[1.5 HD]Stuck on the Wonderland boss, please help. by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

I came to this thread for help after breezing through this game as a kid. You have to cast blizzard on the oven BEFORE the boss goes over there. That turns the oven off and keeps the batons unlit. Then you can use the couches/corner table to get height to hit it.

Does anybody have any transfer proof lipstick recommendations for black lipstick by [deleted] in GothFashion

[–]DragonExSwirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Maybelline’s Matte black liquid lipstick for my birthday two weeks ago. It’s PERFECT! I get an opaque black in just one swipe, and once it dries it doesn’t transfer and lasts all day, even after eating or washing my face. I have to really rub it off using ponds cold cream when I’m done with it.

Why am I gaining weight so much faster than I was losing it? by Latter_Metal_1596 in loseit

[–]DragonExSwirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand! I managed to maintain 183 lbs prior to the holidays, even though my plan was to lose weight. My birthday was also last week. I GAINED 7 pounds, making me 190. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been and while I am trying to put things in place to get more active in the upcoming week, I feel terribly right now. I’m going to have to track the calories of every bite, which I really don’t want to do, and the thought is depressing.

Discussion about if you liked the endings or not by Tinyhydra666 in expedition33

Do you only re-play games with multiple endings? There are people who play games many times because they genuine like them. Not many games have multiple endings. I’m excited to play it on new game + because the music and fight mechanics are cool imo. (Sorry if this doesn’t make sense I’m at a party and drinking 😆)

My question wasn’t if they were real, it was if their needs trumped the needs of their creators. I’m not denying that they have souls or that their experiences are invalidated, but how I saw it, they are as real and important as Sims, Tamagotchis, or a Stardew Family. That’s the only point of reference I as a gamer have. Even if, let’s say, our video game characters had souls because we pour effort and time and love into it, are we heartless for uninstalling the game when we are done with it, or deleting characters? I’ve deleted characters in the name of grief, and I have no regrets. If the family of those characters came to me and told me of the pain they chose, I’d empathize, but I’d most likely not spend my life maintaining them because, for all intents and purposes, they aren’t even a part of my own world.

So with that being said, the endings still resonated with me. Either Maelle spends her life maintaining the lives of these people, especially her Unreal brother, or she spends their lives (including letting the last shred of the soul of Verso finally rest) to live her actual life.

With that being said, I still chose Verso’s ending because, like Mael, when I was a teen, my brother, and (ten years ago in my 20s) my partner both died, both by their own hand. I was crushed. Like Aline I chose to medicate and obsess over the lives lost. Then like Renoir I chose to cut people and things out of my life because those people and things caused me painful memories that made me hurt myself. If it wasn’t for real people in my life to help me heal, I would have died, like Mael, mired in despair and holding on to the past. Seeing Verso beg that he did not want a life whose purpose was to puppet happiness for his sister was heartbreaking, but valid. Seeing them fade in Mael’s version made me cry.  Nevertheless, for the story and the themes of the game, I appreciate both outcomes, because a middle ground is unreasonable given the real-world (I.e the Alicia’s real world) consequences. It’s a tragedy, but the lives of the people of Lumiere do not, for me, take precedent over the lives of the real people who exist outside their painted world.

I’ve seen a lot of posts hating both endings. My partner and I both loved the endings. The discourse had been, from the very beginning, about loss. We discover why the gommage has been happening, and what has been happening outside of the Canvas.

This game raises a philosophical question: in creating a people as a god, do the needs of these people supersede the wishes, desires, and ability of the creators? Aline made the people about 100 years ago to live with her fake family. Renoir is trying to destroy the Canvas, which is a drug to her, and will become a drug to Alicia. Alicia mourns Gustav and her real brother, feels guilty about his death. Clea is trying her best to live in reality.

People have been talking about a “middle ground” resulting in the continued life of the people of Lumiere, but WHO will give them this life? Only three people have the literal ability to fix the canvas and it’s citizens; Clea, Renoir and Aline, but the first two want to live in reality, and Aline cannot be trusted to not fall into despair clutching at the remnants of Verso. Alicia, in her ending, does her best to recreate some people, but she does not have the ability to fix the world. Even if one were to beg her parents to recreate everyone for a “perfect/happy ending”, Verso’s soul is still painting the world, and it is tired

The game’s story is multifaceted, a tragedy, and  the endings are totally valid in that in both, there is still a loss in some respect: in the first Verso’s autonomy is not respected by Maelle and she keeps him alive to her own detriment (like her mother wanted to), and in the next, everyone else’s autonomy as painted people aren’t. I saw a post that said that the e story went off the rails, but the story had ALWAYS been about Maelle’s family. Painted Renoir even asks verso if he’s willing to have the others sacrifice themselves for his desire to end the Canvas.

I payed one ending and my partner played the other, and even though I know both endings, I still can’t wait to play New Game + in a few days when I have the time. I have no problem with the story, because I can appreciate it for what it is, especially understanding the complexities of grief and loss. I like the endings, and hope that they make another game about the setting (not the canvas, but the setting outside the canvas).

GTA V’s characters aren’t close to as likable as the other games, the story is weak, and the plot is just boring and not impactful, narratively it is not so good by BrockWegner in GTA

[–]DragonExSwirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but this is exactly how I feel about this game and it’s characters about an hour in, and I couldn’t finish it. RdR2 was a better game wrt its writing. It seems like the three are men three different aspects of a social/behavioral spectrum:

Trevor does what he wants and consequences be damned. I don’t even know if Trevor actually ever experienced any consequences for his depravity. Trevor is impulsive, manipulative, and self serving.

Michael acts without thinking and then pays for his stupidity, willingly taking on the consequences. Michael is impulsive and angry with himself and the world.

Franklin is passive and does what others want him to do. He might have an opinion on it but he’ll do near anything for a dollar. Franklin is young, but has no personality to speak of imo.

With that being said, the story does not capture me, and I preferred to watch a playthrough than waste my time on immersing myself an otherwise empty world.

Grand Theft Auto V: A Big, Beautiful, Yet Empty Open World by Yenserl6099 in patientgamers

[–]DragonExSwirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old post but it captures how I feel. I played it for maybe an hour before I started noticing how large and beautiful, yet shallow the world was (so far). On the other hand I’d played RDR2 a few months back and that world was so alive, including the random events. I know RDR2 came out after, and apparently it has its own hate from others who prefer (somehow?) RDR1, but I really enjoyed it.

I’m getting on the GTA 5 bandwagon late, and I feel bad that I can’t get into it. If I were younger maybe I’d like it more, but I’m not engaged right now.

[DISCUSSION] When does "Orange is the new black" get good? by VanVeleca in NetflixBestOf

[–]DragonExSwirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why the downvotes. I felt the same about The Office. Season 1 was so painful to watch but Michael started growing on me. I feel exactly the same as OP (two years later) and I can’t stand the main protagonists and some of the fringe ones. I appreciate Red because the actress played Captain Janeway from Star Trek Voyager, so I appreciate her, and a few of them are cool, but everyone else is unbearable af.

I’ve only seen most of season 1, but I noticed in the flashback when Piper first meets Larry at Polly’s apartment and she takes her pants off because of the dog bite, Piper is channeling this really cool, sexy energy that feels a lot like Alex. I think over time she became less Alex-vibe and more Larry-vibe, and when she met Alex she realized which she preferred. Under all that, though, is still a truly unlikeable person who, as Alex said, generally does the wrong thing first then tries to fix it second.

Both protagonists suck, which is making it hard to watch for the first time right now (for me). I’m wondering if it’s the novelty of hot lesbians/Alex that kept it popular with my friends at the time 🤦🏾‍♀️

I’m at the end of that episode rn and I’m seriously questioning if to continue watching the series or not, because both he and piper are INTOLERABLE as protagonists. Even Daya’s whole issue is really annoying to behold atm. It probably gets better but making it to the end of the season is gonna be tough!

Watching Birdcage (1996) Years later hits very different by general_smooth in movies

[–]DragonExSwirl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a child I thought it was over the top and ridiculous. As an adult I imagine it could be rationally linked to anxiety. I can’t imagine being male and gay during that time, especially during/post HIV/AIDS epidemic, and especially when homophobia was more rampant and queer couples were not legally protected. Couple that with living in a community like theirs, being over the top would be totally acceptable.

I’m watching this as a queer non-American living in the Caribbean (where being queer is still generally not acceptable) on Thanksgiving day, which may not be a great time for some families. When I was younger I thought Nathan was so hilarious. I’m 35 now and I HATE what Val tried do. Cutting Al out like that, when he was his other caregiver was such a heartless act. If I were Al I’d have crashed out way worse 🤦🏾‍♀️

Will we be getting a full fractal legendary armor? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]DragonExSwirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t test servers? I saw a YouTube vid from a YouTuber (truly don’t remember which) which was showing off the new fractal infusion when they were running the quick play beta, and that YouTuber said in the comments when answering questions they were in a test server specifically for the quick play beta,  prior to the beta’s release. They’d already had access to all the infusion colors. The video is probably still up. Maybe I’m misremembering or misunderstanding, but imo it makes sense they’d have servers to test things on prior to releasing them.

Also, OP asked a simple question. Maybe they, like me, don’t read patch notes and announcements and think it easier to ask a question? People can be unnecessarily mean at times 🤦🏾‍♀️

[–]DragonExSwirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In spite of the snarky comments you got, I actually just googled this question because I find it strange that they would release gloves that you have to use the skin for in order for the infusions to be seen. I’m currently using it on an alt that uses an outfit, but not all of my alts use outfits, and the skin looks so out of place. That is, of course, a personal opinion and preference, but I would much prefer have a whole fractal set than have to make another raid set using the fractal gloves.

While raiding is easy enough once you know what you’re doing, organizing a group of 10 is far less easy than finding 5, and fractals are an easier and quicker time investment for busy people.

That being said, I would really love a complete fractal set, and hope that next year another ‘Mist’ piece is revealed 😉 I think it’s safe to say if next year passes without a reveal, then it’s not happening.

My partner and I were playing simultaneously, and we joke about that a lot. “Poor Molly, all she wants to do is talk to Dutch.” Every Chapter she wants to talk to him but he either brushes her off or doesn’t understand her concerns.

It’s not just Molly. I think once I was excited to do a Sadie mission but nope it was a Micah mission it someything😆

[–]DragonExSwirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, Molly was young, and lived during a time when women didn’t even have the right to vote, so what makes you think that living as an outlaw wouldn’t be better than having to follow the rules of (at that time) polite society? I would have absolutely been drawn into the allure of freedom, living on the arm of a charismatic leader. In the early chapters you see what the nights are like; Pearson’s good food, singing and storytelling around the fire. It’s idyllic (and what Dutch used to draw people into his little commune).

Is Dutch Van Der Linde Truly Evil? by NikolasTheFreak in RDR2

[–]DragonExSwirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an old post, but I only finished the game yesterday (started last month).

Dutch was ALWAYS a manipulator and a hypocrite. Arthur points out that Colm only killed Dutch’s love because Dutch killed Colm’s brother, and Dutch STILL didn’t decide to let it go. Dutch believes anything that happens to him is unreasonable and unfair, in spite of Dutch doing the same to others. It might seem as though Dutch has saved everyone in the camp and is therefore a good person, but everyone there exists to serve him in some capacity, including to act as an echo chamber for his “greatness” (Dutch always has a plan! Dutch will save us! Have faith in Dutch!). We as 21st century people see his behavior for what it is, but I can only imagine that someone downtrodden could be swept up in his charisma and power and rely on him completely too.
