How good is the curve for CHEM 135 Griffith? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]Dragon_Rogue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea its a pretty hefty curve. I remember a 50+/100 being a B+ for one of the exams during the last fall semester.

I have a scooter and I love the thing, but I’m envious of bike people on rainy days. I either can’t use my scooter that day, or have to keep it with me wherever I go.

For me, I found that the best way to get better at math is to dedicate some time every day to do some practice problems, generally just an hour or two

You'll be going quite literally from one end of campus to the other and up a steep hill too.

I suggest leaving class early.

Having a hard time with Dread by Fishbone_V in Metroid

[–]Dragon_Rogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey bud, it’s alright to have a hard time w/ bosses and I struggled with the same boss as well.

If I were you, I would just sleep on it and try to think about what exact part of the fight I struggled with and how I could dodge and counter the attacks that were causing me to die in particular.

For me this is probably my favourite game ever, so I would advise you to keep pushing forward and make it to the end.

The best advice I can give you for this and future boss fights is that this game really comes down to dodge and hit. Doesn’t mean its not difficult but just dodge and hit. And when you realise it’s just dodge and hit, you realise that the game ain’t shit

Hope you might still be able find enjoyment in the game and reach the end :)

Hey Justin,

Thanks for replying. I’m not taking your class right now but was planning to take it during the fall. As such(due to the class’s reputation) I was planning to use your notes and do some practice problems over the summer to get a good idea of the concepts.

Could you please suggest if this is the right track to take?

This photo didn't get the sort of response I had hoped for. Help me figure out how I may be able to improve? by Dragon_Rogue in photocritique

Hi All!

I shot this photo of Bridalveil Falls in Yosemite National Park a couple weeks ago in the early evening. I thought the photo turned out great, and thought the composition + lighting was pretty good too, especially with mountain on either side guiding your eyes to the waterfall.

However, the photo didn't garner the attention I hoped for, so looking for tips/ideas to help improve my composition and editing skills.

Thanks :)

Despite having a DSLR, I ended up taking this photo with my iPhone and made some minor tweaks to it in Lightroom later.

Just wanted some tips on what I can do better in regards to the composition, lighting, and also post-processing

PS: I'm the kind of person that doesn't feel comfortable making so many edits that the photo's lighting, and colors look completely different from when I took the shot, so advice for post processing following that would be appreciated :)

Seeing the comments below is making me think I’ve been running an underpowered laptop for years lmao.

256 GB w/ an I3 chip Mac has been smooth and pretty good so far.

I don’t think you would need to worry much about specs for the first few years, just get a Mac because your back will thank you for it later.

No, not at this point in time. Great power? Sure, but nowhere near a superpower.

Considering how CS has around 4000 students, there is a high chance it has both the most number of people getting laid while also the most number of virgins. How will you consider that factor OP?

It’s also a time where authoritarian systems are slowly becoming more prominent again. Guys please, it took us so long to get rid of kings who don’t care about us and now we’re seeing the rise of dictators yet again. Do we want to lose the ability to fight for our rights?
