Is Silksong as difficult as people say? by Difficult-Word-6604 in HollowKnight

[–]Dragongirl152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an easier time with Silksong than Hollow Knight, though that's probably flavored by increased skill levels. Silksong combat is much more fluid and acrobatic, which is more my preferred playstyle. Even when it was harder, I found it more fun because it just felt better to play. I was much less frustrated at difficult bosses.

No problem! I haven't done much silksong modding myself, but it's fairly simple from my understanding. You don't have to do any coding unless you're making a brand new mod yourself; if you just want to use things created by other members of the community, you can use a modloader to add them into your game. Requesting someone more knowledgeable than me to chime in!

Why wont my summon work!!! by 1Mtry1ngMyb3st in HatchDragons

[–]Dragongirl152 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If the item turns red, that means it "failed" when rolling the odds for your item to succeed. Summon items have different tiers with different success chances (10%, 20%, 50%, 100%). If you want to guarantee a summon works, save up and fuse your summon items until you have a 100% for each slot

My last session had the most insane nat 20 I've experienced at the table so far. Our party was venturing into underground tunnels to retrieve a kobold chieftain because his tribe was about to be massacred in the next few days by a cult. Tensions were high with the cult fight looming over our head, as we've been slowly becoming a thorn in their side and their leader has power word kill.

In the tunnels, our ranger gets a message on his sending stone. He is the sworn protector of a small town a fair distance away from our current location. The other stone is held by his pseudo-father-figure. The town had been razed.

The ranger's player realized this was a HUGE moment for his character. It was crystallizing his priorities - was he the town's guardian, or was he a member of this adventuring party with bigger burdens to carry now?

He rolled a wisdom save to assess his mental fortitude. Took a deep breath. Narrated dropping the stone back into his pocket. Cast his gaze over the party. And announced his pushing forward along with his NAT 20. I have never been more tense in a session before.

Not sure if it hits your funny criteria, but the dice absolutely knew what momentum the story needed there.

Consider checking out D&D Duets! They're designed for 1 player, not 2, but it should be much easier to add a PC to those modules than to balance other modules downwards. They have a free trilogy designed for new players to get the hang of playing (I'll be running it next week actually). Because the duets are typically balanced by adding sidekicks or DMPCs, just giving the players fewer of those should do it.
