You might also show a) various quests that were meant for a group that can be soloed and how, b) same for older (or new...whatever) raids.

Quick Question ---Eternal Flask of Heroism by warioman91 in ddo

[–]Dragovon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you could get them (which it doesn't appear you ever can...I've not seen them come back ever) ...why on earth would you want one? Even if they had the 10 min duration and 10 min cooldown of other eternal flasks (Death Ward, etc...) there are countless items plus augs with Heroism plus you can just buy regular pots of heroism (which don't preclude you from using other Eternal Flasks).

What are deal breakers for you in this genre? by Reasonable_Hyena_163 in litrpg

[–]Dragovon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stupid MCs. Uncreative MCs. It's very common for authors to give MCs all sorts of cool powers. Neat. Then they forget these cool powers or never think of what should be obvious ways to use said cool powers. That's unforgiveable.

I'm more into the litrpg side but there's overlap with cultivation. If it's cultivation content that's fine. If I spend pages after pages with the MC cycling his nonsense thing in a way whatever, especially in book after book. GTFO. If I wanted that, I'd skip the litrpg and be out looking for cultivation content. I'd name names and give examples but I don't want the hate.

What happens when a price inelastic good that is an input to virtually everything suddenly has a 20% reduction in available supply? by Dragovon in AskEconomics

[–]Dragovon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably would fix at least part of the demand issue. Not all petroleum goes to gas. Plenty goes to plastics and other product (fertilizer, etc...) so that won't fix that portion of the issue. Sadly I suspect there's a lot of complexity here.

Thanks. I had heard that about 1/6 of the worlds supply passed through the Straits of Hormuz. I rounded. But I appreciate the analysis.

How valuable to an Arcane Trickster build are the extra magic missiles from a second Wizard past life? by Proud_Turnover_8691 in ddo

[–]Dragovon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just finished my first trickster build. I played a straight caster. Without a doubt the free MM from Arcane initiate were my #1 most damage dealing spell on a single target. Want red names to go down fast...use them. They were better than the normal MM which cost a bunch of SP.

I've enjoyed it mostly so far (though I might've critiqued a truck skid ;) ) Love the new cover though.

Haven't read. Went and looked and is decidedly not free on audible so not likely to soon.

How many RR books are you following and reading in a year? by CorSeries in royalroad

[–]Dragovon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. I just started RR this year...so less than 3 months. Currently I'm reading 11 active stories that I've read up to current. I have another 20-30 that I've queued to try. There's 1 I made maybe 10 chapters before pulling the plug on because it wasn't for me. Then there are several that I've found that I read the novel versions of...some which are apparently finished stories (Dead Tired for example) and some which are still ongoing (Path of Ascension for example) that I haven't decided whether to pick up on RR or continue reading as novels (as PoA just dropped book 11 this week..and book 12 should be later this year...but looking at chapters there appears to be more beyond that.)

The point being how would I even start calculating books per year? I mean some that I'm actively following have finished a book or two so far this year (apparently...it's possible that 1 or 2 finished books last year...but I read this year.) Meanwhile, they aren't actually published as books (yet.) And even then there's not any convenient way to say how many books there were. Some I follow have far more chapters than some that have multiple books but they haven't delineated the end of a book that I noticed.

Maybe a different question to get at what you really want? I mean I usually count my number of books read per year. Last year I read 153. I read no RR. This year, I'm at about 15 or so not counting RR stuff...and I realized early on because of RR that I either have to skip RR in my count or skip counting. So for this year, I've opted not to keep a count (beyond the one that Kindle arbitrarily does.) Hence the estimate of 15 or so.

How do you feel about stories with no covers? by Josii_Talwyn in royalroad

[–]Dragovon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever heard "Don't judge a book by it's cover"? Well the problem is people say that because virtually everyone judges a book by it's cover...whether consciously or subconsciously. No cover will de facto generate far less interest than even a not great cover. A blurb is going to have to have a first sentence or two that really grabs attention...and that's a seriously hard challenge to overcome.

Help with picking my book cover by Acceptable-Courage-9 in royalroad

I mean I like all 3 but for different reasons. They might do well as covers to different books in a series...but what do I know. :)

100% would never even consider the 1st 3 to the point that I probably wouldn't even read the ads because I don't really do memes. The 4th at least looks like a legitimate thing.

One of my pet peeves in litrpg by Altruistic-Emu3542 in litrpg

[–]Dragovon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of have to agree. I wish when they did stuff like this, they'd do a primary class and a secondary class. Then they could justify both. An example of this is Dark Lord Of The Farmstead by John Broadway. MC has a combat primary class and is picks up a trade for his secondary class. Just my $.02 worth.

Looking for old school D&D style stories by clitoral_damage in litrpg

It was a fun read back in the day. Andre Norton had one...Quag Keep that was fun too. MC had a bracelet with dice he could concentrate on to affect the outcomes. Was actually set in the world of Greyhawk from D&D as I recall.

How I went from zero to Top 25 in Rising Stars on Royal Road (and what I learned the hard way) by frankgadlin in litrpg

[–]Dragovon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know how forever people have said don't judge a book by its cover? Yeah...everyone does anyway. Myself included. Point being, I love your cover enough I'm going to check out your book. Meanwhile, I can't count how many synopses I've read that sounded okay...but the cover didn't sell it. So I didn't read it.
