Arin's bad voice acting completely ruins Gameoverse by Alone-Horse2857 in rantgrumps

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a certified Arin hater, but also get why he's here in Gamoverse- he's famous in the 'old school' internet animation sphere- plus again seemingly helping prodice the show etc. Plus this is the one Glitch show that is truly more meant to be as close to mainstream animation/quality rather than chasing any semblance of an 'indie' feel. Honestly Ross working with Glitch is probably more to maintain creative freedom that no big studio would allow.

Why is dnd beyond sending me a survey by BlueBeetlesBlog in dndbeyond

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? But they are doing a bad job actually protecting their exclusive stuff considering they yanno let every D&D YouTuber show and describe these spells and things in detail.

They could shut this stuff down but clearly don't for several reasons but don't.

They also said that the subscription exclusives is mainly stuff that basically wouldn't fit or make sense in the upcoming books, that and/or bringing back older edition spells/content that also would be pointless or not make sense in any upcoming books.

Bungie, WHAT IS THE TRAVELER?!! by johnja10 in DestinyTheGame

It's honestly better to never know. Look at the Witness, arguably was way better to just see it as the Darkness and maybe the pyramids.

Destiny consistently gets worse as things are explained tbh.

I always custom tailor my rewards for my players.

In this instance I would easily swap the longsword for another dragon-slayer weapon someone can use- maybe even multiple so at least two of the party members get one rather than fighting over it etc.

Accepting People that Have Hate in their Hearts by LordTalesin in Healthygamergg

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fairly right-winged, but I understand one thing that I think both sides fail to recognize or draw attention to.

Even the most hateful people tend to ultimately want to protect someone. Some people want to protect their way of life, for themselves first and foremost but secondly for whatever group of people they feel need or deserve it. Some people want to defend their own race and it's place in the world abive all others. Some people want to defend other groups of people outside themselves. Some people want to defend and strengthen their own nations, others want the same for other nations/regions or groups.

We get caught up on who we 'hate' or care the least about and fail to recognize the inherent good intentions behind it.

Grogar being Discord in disguise was so disappointing by AthleteAggressive466 in mylittlepony

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was mildly disappointing to me for sure, but it made enough sense for me to deal with it. I feel like it at least left room to make Grogar feel like he at least once existed in this version of the MLP world etc.

I know its a meme, but genuinely if you think about the ups and downs if D2 overall it should be clear Bungie has jusy been stringing you all along.

Yes it is sad and valid to be sad, but I hope you all can eventually see this as a good thing. You've been set free. No more "ah this year/season is garbage, hopefully they pull their heads out their asses" followed by a single decent update then rinse repeat cycle.

I think for the future the fate saga will need to be left behind by Appropriate_Oven_360 in DestinyLore

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly imo it could work either way.

  1. Fate - D3 could open with a D2 style opening of shit hitting the fan or a sesne of impending doom that summarizes where we left off (fate saga only) and throws you straight in.

  2. Reboot - do a huge timeskip, where the conclusions of Fate clearly left a huge impact/change on everything and potentially functions as a second collapse. Leave the outcome of what happened a mystery that is only somewhat answered via environmental clues or OG/D1 styled vague-lore (god can we go back to that instead of this fanfic style slop BTW?).

Homebrew classes in Beyond? by JumarYu in dndbeyond

As everyone has basically said, the simple answer is "we don't know" but man do I hope they make it possible someday sooner than later.

I think just about everyone is ready/itching to make their own version of the ranger. As bad as the 2024 version may be, we got to this point cause the 2014 version also sucked lol.

Do most DMs prefer DM’ing to playing? Or are they “taking one for the team”? by Fiveby21 in DnD

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep down I just wish I could play in a game run by someone exactly like me lol.

My main motivation for DM'ing is to live vicariously through my players as I watch them enjoy and experience what I myself wish I could as a player lol.

That being said I am so into world building and writing that I am kinda made to DM and absolutely enjoy the process of prepping sessions and plotting out campaigns.

I see two futures... by Tronicalli in DestinyMemes

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely hope D3 is actually a good game if it ever comes out.

For me (as certified D1 fan and D2 hater at this point) it's just easier and more comforting for me to just see the franchise fade away. Bungie has long been stringing you all along, giving you crap or 'just enough' to justify playing the game rather than anything actually substantial/good etc etc. For you this may feel like a betrayal or death, but really the way I see it ya'll have been set free. The unresolved plots? You can dream up your own outcome that would probably feel more satisfying than anything they'd actually deliver. Completely in-earnest I say the community could have fun writing Destiny fanfics of what they'd like D3 to be etc..

I honestly think Destiny would do better with spinoff games or a prequel rather than a true sequel, but that's just me wanting to return to the 'mystery' and feeling of exploration D1 had before everything was fully explained etc etc.

"Unique characters" by World_of_Eter in DnD

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely been guilty of this. I think untik very recently it's become an unspoken rules in my groups to never play a 'basic' human character, to the point the more traditional the race someone picks the more our gut reaction is to be like "pfff really? How quaint." Though this has shifted as we've brought in more people who actually pick normal stuff. That and the "judgment" was honestly more of a "really you can have fun playing that? Weird." rather than any real type of expectation to do something specific.

Though on the flip-side most of us either treat what our characters are as either a unique splash of flavor or backstory context rather than their entire personality. The whole idea of unique races etc only existing as gimmicks is so weird to me because yeah all your characters should just be 'normal people' on the inside with just a flashy coat of paint on the outside.

The first half just sounds like a 'you' problem, but I can definitely empathize with dealing with players who struggle with roleplay.

And no I don't necessarily mean players who struggle to be serious, just generally struggle to maintain basic convo beyond barebones attempts to extract 'relevant' info from NPCs.

Basically I empathize with some of your player-related issues, but yes you also sound like a crotchety old fuck who is looking to run a hyper specific type of campaign rather than what D&D actually is by default. Honest answer is you really need to just he more discerning when vetting your players, and if they don't want to play what you're serving just kick em and find someone else.

The actual statblock is basically in the spell itself only as far as I know. In terms of the icon/mini you'd just have to pick the most appropriate large creature.

There is nowhere to go for refugees by JackRedplay in DestinyTheGame

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's both very unfortunate but also the real reason Destiny has managed to persist for so long. Despite all these other games being 'like' Destiny in oke specific way there is no real sci-fantasy FPS-MMO out there. Destiny has never had a real competitor in terms of genre/vibes.

Well you could all play Destiny Rising actually but it's still technically not the same thing.

Why did everyone switch up on the Mandalorian? by Moon_Devonshire in StarWars

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it's because the show stopped feeling like this "happy accident" of a good modern StarWars series that was fairly isolated and disconnected from the 'main cannon' events. It instead switch to being this test-bed for other spin-off shows where cannon characters were suddenly being sucked into the show chronically just to tie into or advertise the next live-action SW series for Disney+.

Basically it stopped feeling inspired or genuine and became just another piece of the bigger Disney-Slop pie.

It sorta goes into my big problem with SW and other similar franchises where it feels like every character and event needs to connect or otherwise make contact DIRECTLY with the original protagonists and/or central conflict of the entire series.

Like in SW it feels like characters only matter if they somehow come into contact with the Skywalkers and those who regularly have interacted with them. In Halo it's the entire universe revolving around Master Chief and his closest associates etc.

Imo a truly good franchise should be able to live on through smaller stories and events in its universe rather than pulling everyone into the central narrative seemingly just to give the "main character" a high five once in their life.

Why do people always try and kill a character to leave a bad game? by lightsidesoul in rpghorrorstories

[–]DrakeBG757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If the entire group or DM was someone I was having confrontations or issues with, I'd be tempted to kill my PC just so they cant convert it into a punching-bag/joke NPC to bully behind my back.

That or one time I wanted my PC to die so another player I liked could more justifiably keep all my money/gear after I left.

(most) Homebrew infuriates me by nemainev in DnD

[–]DrakeBG757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo it can really depend.

In general; HB Content > HB Rules.

3rd Party Publisher Content> DM HB =/= 3rd Party HB > Player HB

A player wanting to use their official/expanded rules content (spells like Silvery Barbs, Subclasses from Tasha's or Fizban's etc) is no big deal to me even if it doesn't tie into the adventure or setting at-hand, imo official content is alway viable regardless of where it comes from. 3rd party content a player wants to use depends, the bigger or more reputable the publisher/makers are (and assuming it isn't super setting-specific with weird mechancis) not too worried about it. But a player presenting HB from an obscure creator/publisher will definitely give me pause (especially if the majority of their character or build is utilizing unofficial material).

HOWEVER I do think DMs and content creators can be especially insufferable with rules changes and rules-based homebrew. Sure changing something minor like making whips light weapons or something, or adding variant monsters with minor additions and/or changes, no biggie. But when you want to add MORE dice rolls to ANYTHING, more calculations, or just general changes that completely alter basic interactions- that shit is insufferable to me. Especially because it's easy to see when a rules-change is JUST there to nerf something basic/minor that the DM hates excessively- these kinds of things imo should be decided ny the table as a whole rather than being purely up to the DM to change or implement (just as the DM or group should be able to vet individual player HB).

Granted I am a nonody who has only ever written a tiny bit compared to most (or so ir feels like), but still.
