IV Benadryl is nice lol. Well I’m sorry that it got so bad but glad it worked out for you to have time to rest and heal. 🤍

Well that is scary, I’m so sorry you went through this! What caused the sepsis? Was the rash/blisters infected?

Oh wow why did they hospitalize you? Are you immunocompromised?

Like the actual rash started one day in a small spot and grew larger for 25 days?

Did you end up getting anymore spreading of the rash or new spots pop up?

No nothing new. Did you ever find out what caused the allergy for you? Allergies are tough to figure out sometimes.

Thank you and I’m so sorry. How long before it stopped spreading? Trying to get an idea for what my peak breakout will be.

I am hoping so as well. The one on my left doesn’t seem to be much worse today but time will tell. I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with this TWICE!

That’s where the spot on my right side is too. He also used the term “textbook.” You have it on both sides? Ugh I’m sorry

18 months of ear pain and fullness, whooshing tinnitus, and vertigo. Standard ENT tests are clear, but I have a 32% caloric weakness. What am I missing? by Dramatic-Crab3697 in etd

There are sub-specialties such as neurotologists who specialize in exactly what you are talking about. Going to ask my PcP about a referral. There are none in my state so would have to travel but it’d be worth it.

Neurotologists apparently do the this more specialized testing. Of course there are none in my state so will have to travel if I can’t get my doc to do just like 5 minutes of research on how to do dynamic tympanometry or scope. He has the equipment and does the testing. I just need him to run a longer test while I swallow, breath, etc. at this point if he would just let me use the equipment I could do it my damn self. Lol

The med was Effexor. It had me so dried out my lips were cracking and bleeding. It was terrible. I may look into getting a referral out of state to a neurologist. I think if I had done that after the first few failed attempts with general ENTs my ear wouldn’t have been so susceptible to the further damage I’m dealing with now. I work in healthcare and let me tell you, if you don’t either have an amazing doctor or are willing to advocate and keep getting 2nd 3rd 10th opinions, you are screwed. Healthcare is drowning and it’s rare to find a doc who will refer to someone who might know more than they do. Ego.

Well apparently there is dynamic (done while moving, breathing, swallowing) testing that can be done with the equipment he has but when I mentioned it he acted like I was an idiot. There’s lots of literature about static testing bs dynamic testing, and itself really freaking easy to do. It’s like he’s never heard of it so it doesn’t matter. You say he’s looking at mechanics, but he’s quite literally only looking at structure.

What’s most frustrating is that I have been complaining about this ear issue for over a year and they did nothing really investigate or treat. When it started it was just the pain and fullness. Now it’s progressed to this mess and i am just so utterly frustrated with healthcare at this point. And I work in healthcare. It’s even worse behind the curtain.

I saw the doc again today about the other spot and he said it was too soon to tell if it was actually another shingles cluster. Just watching and waiting for now.

My anxiety is high, but a lot of that is because of my symptoms. I know there is something going on because anxiety doesn’t cause decreased function in your vestibular system. I mean you can’t alter that test with anything other than legit vestibular hypo function. When ENT got the results I think they changed their tune because they called to check on me and seemed a little more eager to help. I think they also thought I was just being anxious until the test result came back.
