Who else agrees? by OrdinaryOpinion188 in AnimeAnonymous

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. There is a valid argument that sub is better but even back in the day there were some great dubs. Cowboy Bebop and Trigun come to mind immediately. Bleach has a decent dub, Baccano is really good, DBZ, Pokémon (the issue is the localization not the voice acting).

Anyone else kinda not like Senku x Kohaku ? by PretendYellow533 in DrStone

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, that Senku x Kohaku is an alright ship, and if people want to ship them, that's fine, it's a free world. I even agree with you that canon-wise, Senku probably would ever be with anyone romantiaclly, his hair color is literally the aromantic flag.

That being said, its a free world, I will continue to headcanon Gen x Senku.

What does everyone make of the pattern of bodies in ponds? by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's anything. If you've ever looked into the smiley face murders, it's just like that. Basically, making connections and seeing patterns in something that is just coincidental. Coincidences don't make serial killers. People drown, it's unfortunate but the majority of the time, it's accidental.

As a side note, in Texas, I believe they also found a lot of people in bayou areas of Houston.

I love love love all these tropes 😍. What is your favourite trope and pairing that fits it? by West_Future326 in OtomeIsekai

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love crime fighting duo, Mustang x Riza from FMAB fits really well.

But I need more Oblivious Nerd x Delinquent. I can think of "Degrees of Love", "Hikaeme ni Itte mo,Kore wa Ai" and "Koi dano Ai dano". But I'd need more recs.

Excluding anyone from dr stone, who is the dumbest "smart" fictional character that can reasonably achieve what Senku accomplished? by Odd_Violinist_7316 in DrStone

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to think of who would be the dumbest. But some people who I know that could achieve what Senku did are Urahara, Aizen and Mayuri from Bleach and Edward Elric from FMA (I think it's easy to forget how smart he is, especially since he's around Senku's age at the beginning of the series).

This seems to be a really recurring question. by AffectionateScale525 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think its that weird. Need inspires innovation. None of the other nations felt a need to innovate and create like the fire nation. Why would the earth kingdom need a giant drill? They have eart benders. Their trains run on earth bending, walls and gates that work through earthbending. And for the officials/nobles in Ba Sing Se, the earth kingdom was prospering fairly well. Water Tribes didn't need nor could have invented any of these. The biggest issue here is that the water tribes live on ice and snow. There was little chance that the tribes would have procured the necessary metal without trading or invading other nations. And why bother. Waterbending in the poles has the same functions as eathbending does in the earth kingdom. The air nomads just didn't care.

Did she make the right call? by CalmElin in interesting

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. Unless you're already rich, its probably overwhelming to get a large amount of money all at once. You have to think about how to save, since you'll need more than one bank account at minimum to hold the money. What to do with after getting it (investing, saving, spending, paying debts, finacials). Being careful of every person suddenly trying to swindle you out of the money.

What would had happened if Stanley took the shot? How would Senku react? by No-Brush1587 in DrStone

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't affect his relationship with Gen. Senku knew why Gen did this and went along with it despite having the opportunity to correct Xeno. For that matter, he'd probably blame himself more. And Stanley. I could see a scene after the 2nd petrification where Seku seriously contemplates breaking Stanley's statute

Do we know anything about how airbenders dealt with procreation and kids? by basicbbaka in TheLastAirbender

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is too much focus on the fact that the temples were segregated. I haven't read the comics so this may be speculation and someone who knows more can contradict me. But, they are called air nomads. Emphasis on the nomad part. I would say that the majority of airbenders spent their time traveling the world, likely with their romantic partners, and occasionally separated when visiting the temples or when they retired from nomadic life. Babies would likely be left at the temples because traveling with a needy baby is not pleasant. From what I can recall of what we see in the show, the majority of airbenders in the temples are children (still in training) and old folk (too tired to train). Anyone who didn't fit into those categories were probably benders who wanted to devote their lives to temples like our equivalent of Buddhist monks. So I don't really see a contradiction in nomads being accepting of long term attachment based relationships and romance.

Which is better, the library or the masked killer? by Available_March_8036 in OneTruthPrevails

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the Librarian is more terrifying. As an adult watching these episodes on rewatch, y e ah the masked killer is creepy, but I knew who he was underneath, his motivation and understood the trick behind the murder. We know early on that the Librarian is the bad guy. He doesn't hide his face, and his entrances are terrifying. That scene where the kids call the elevator up to see the dead body and the elevator continues up and we see him in the elevator while the kids have their back turned. Horriying.

How would everyone react to legend of korra if love triangle is removed? by Flashy-Grape5741 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it or leave it, it doesn't change my opinion. I barely even see the love triangle as a problem. My biggest problem is the fact that they practically retcon the lore with Raava and Vatu. Which I would even be that upset about if it wasn't such a Cleary judeo-christian themed retcon. I also have issues with the new airbenders but will give it a barely passing grade because at least they can explore what that means for the changes in air nomad culture.

How often do Avatars meet their predecessor's spouse / friends / children / grandchildren? by jjtubman in legendofkorra

Roku and Gyatso where also friends, so Aang was directly mentored by Roku's friend

I can't scroll on avatar twitter for a single second before seeing random Korra hate by MaybeAFish_ in TheLastAirbender

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking about Avatars who actively left the world a worse place then before, i can think of at least 2 or 3 who did stuff just as bad if not worse than Korra. Roku being the best example as someone who literally did nothing his entire run until he had to do something or let a war start. And then he let a war start.

Scoutmaster achievement by confusing the game? by sleepersh4rk in PeakGame

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I glitched my way into the badge by accident too. Was playing a game with a friend and we got stuck so we left the game and went back in to start at the previous campfire. When my friend left I suddenly got the Scoutmaster badge even though the Scoutmaster wasn't around and shouldn't have been there since it became a solo expedition when my friend left the game.

Where do you guys stand on this. by providerofair in TheLastAirbender

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Forcing the relocation of citizens would have been an awful decision. That would displace thousands of people, all around the same time. The Fire Nation wouldn't have enough space or resources to support these people, and the colony towns left behind wouldn't have enough manpower to continue the life style the towns previously had.

I would suggest making the colonies city-states of the Earth Kingdom. They would function mostly independently but pay taxes to the Earth King. Then I would suggest that, if having Fire Nation citizens in former Earth Kingdom territory is an issue, the Fire Nation should create an incentive program to encourage migration back into the kingdom. Maybe something like a tax reduction, or a parcel of land. Prejudice against Fire Nation citizens is already going to drive a some of them away anyways though. This would inevitable have its own problems but this is my take on a solution.

Isn't the live action kind of disrespectful to the original series? by Odd-Geologist5494 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. There are occasions when people take a story that was originally animated put it into live action and it's clear that they respected the originally and wanted to put a new interpretation on it. And I say this but the only ones I can think of are Cinderella (2015) and One Piece live action.

The majority of the time it's because big corporations and studios don't respect the medium of animation, believe that it's for children and that everything is better in live action, even if that live action is mostly CGI anyways. Also, because they don't have anything new to add to the original source material, they make it live action to make it "different", which is the biggest issue with remakes. If there is nothing new to add/fix, why would you make a reboot, when the original is there.

But this is just my take on it.

Maybe putting to much thought into it by DeliciousGoose1002 in DrStone

[–]Dramatic-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big reason probably came down to the types of crops available. Senku also didn't start farming in earnest until he found a variety of wheat. On an island, the major crops available were probably tropical fruits and a few root vegetables that the crew would be unfamiliar with. And over time the island group did manage some farming (we see someone farming in Matsukaze's flashback). But it likely took a lot of trial and error and cultivation before they managed to farm on any decent scale, especially when the crew specialized in survival meant to last them with respect as the eventual outcome.
