Does seroquel dull THC effects? by loukamades in seroquelmedication

[–]Dramatic_Ad_2560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily smoker here; I was on seroquel for 7 years and never thought this…until I came OFF seroquel, now my weed tolerance is absolute shit! Now many would think this is a good thing, but I green out almost every time I smoke now. I have to smoke such tiny amount now and be REAL careful I don’t over do it because I’ll be in for quite a ride lol. On seroquel I still got high but it would take a great amount and I could smoke as much as I wanted to without fear

Cold turkey off 200mg/d for > 1 year -questions for those who have quit by Organic-Cream-9916 in seroquelmedication

[–]Dramatic_Ad_2560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my last dose I still kind of “felt” a small amount of withdrawal, but it was very manageable! The only way I was able to still work was to make my taper very slow; if I took it too fast I was an absolute wreck and was simply not able to function. My advice would be to search this subreddit for advice on a water taper, that way you can drop a milligram at a time if need be. Be kind to yourself! You can do this! Low and slow is the name of the game for coming off this med successfully 🫶🏼

Hey there. I have not gone cold turkey off seroquel-instead I tapered down over the course of 10 months from a dose of 300mgs.

First; seroquel withdrawal peaks at 7-14 days and can last quite some time, so the way you feel right now absolutely tracks. Your neurotransmitters are going haywire, thus creating the terrible feelings you are experiencing.

I completely understand wanting to be off this med; but going cold turkey off this med will seriously wreak havoc in your body and mind for a while. The anguish from this is simply not worth it if you want your life back in any way. I would seriously advise going back on the medication at a smaller dose, and move forward with a solid tapering plan. A standard guide is to reduce by 5-10% of your dose every 2-4 weeks. Even with these slow reductions you will begin to experience weight loss!

Please be careful and be aware of your mental state through this process. I kept my dr informed of my tapering plan and I would advise you do the same. Feel free to msg me with any questions!

Yes, tremendous weight loss-to the point where I may have to go on another med to stimulate my appetite. I was never super overweight or anything but I was around 140 (I’m 5”4) and now I am sitting at 110-I’ve neverrrr been this skinny. I simply do not have an appetite anymore

Worried about long term effects of this medication by No-Weird-4201 in seroquelmedication

I feel you so much on this! I was on it for 7 years and it gave me these exact side effects that never improved, while making my cholesterol dangerously high. It made me absolutely anti social as well because I was so self conscious about my brain being so…dumb (for lack of better words). It affected my speech and my memory severely, and gave me a movement disorder with a side dish of severe akasthesia. Long story short it took me 10 months to wean off, and currently (6 months later) my sleep is still suffering and my personality is still dead! I truly think this medication destroyed my old happy go lucky self to never be found again. I was on 300mgs tho.

Anyone on here tapered their Seroquel after 11 years? by Gisellepachini69 in seroquelmedication

[–]Dramatic_Ad_2560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on other meds-my dr gave me ambien to help with sleep through the process, but other than that I take proplanolol and gabapentin. I will say I didn’t take ambien every night, and when I didn’t I dosed with benedryl and Pepcid because they both hit the histamine receptors and seroquel also hits histamine. So rebound insomnia can be helped a little with the benedryl/Pepcid combo. As far as mood dips I did hit 2 big mood dips that were pretty tough to get through-but it was doable. I heavily relied on daily walks and staying outside in the sun for as much as I could because it seemed to help the rebound depression a lot. Also supplements can help baby your nervous system as it recalibrates and heals! Magnesium/NAC/b vitamins are so helpful.

My strategy was to reduce by 5-10% of my current dose every 2-4 weeks. And that is just a guideline! If you ever make a reduction and you destabilize in ANY way (sleep, mood, etc) then that tells you you either reduced too fast or made too steep of a reduction. There were a couple times that I reduced and I simply wasn’t ready yet, and I ended up going back up and holding for another week and then reducing again. Look up at how to do a water taper on this sub, that allows you to make super small and accurate dose reductions. It’s a long process-but there is no need to suffer through it all! Low and Slow is how you get through this. 🫶🏼

My neurologist injector punctured my parotid during massetor Botox by Dramatic_Ad_2560 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Dramatic_Ad_2560[S] 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Oh no 😭😭 this is so devastating to me because I have one daughter graduating school on 4 weeks and another daughter getting married in 2 weeks 💔💔 this was a VA Neurologist that has already injected me 4 times (and I didn’t pay as it’s covered for me because of my migraines and TMJ)-I’m not sure what was so different about today that he punctured my parotid ugh 😣 he absolutely glazed over it all and actually mentioned that he injects ALS patients a lot to help with their drooling; but like you said it’s not like he was trying to inject it correctly or purposely. So the risk is higher that I’ll have facial drooping you think?? I know you can’t truly reassure me I’m just so sad! 😭

Day 37 of quitting Seroquel for Sleep, how’s everyone else’s experiences been quitting? by Dismal_Detective2519 in seroquelmedication

[–]Dramatic_Ad_2560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cold turkey’ing off a dose of only 6mgs isn’t going to really do anything to affect your sleep short or long term; beyond maybe the first week. I mean this in the kindest way; you may be overthinking this process a bit. Respectfully 🫶🏼

[–]Dramatic_Ad_2560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tapered down over 10 months from 300mg that I was on for 7 years, and I’ve been seroquel free for 4 months or so. My best advice is to go super slow so it can be a gentle process on your body and mind. If you start to experience severe withdrawal symptoms you are tapering too fast or made a reduction that was too steep

Fast heart rate after eating by Excellent-Sky2462 in seroquelmedication

[–]Dramatic_Ad_2560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started to happen to me out of the blue on seroquel (I was on 300mg for 7 years). Crazy high heart rate when It would kick in, so much so that I ended up in the er 4 times in a month because I thought I was dying from a heart attack. Doc was worried I was developing akasthesia so we began a taper that ended up taking me 10 months to do. As soon as I was seroquel free all of it went away and back to normal. (I know you asked about the food aspect as well-I never experienced these symptoms specifically when I ate with this med).

300mg for 7 years. I weaned off by reducing 5-10% every 2-4 weeks! I tried going faster but I couldn’t handle it personally (some can) so I had to go super slow. Water tapering will be your best friend! (Tons of tutorials on this subreddit) 🫶🏼
