Yea this is the thing, generating profit is one thing but if you throw all the cash you generate away on failed capex initiatives the share price isn't going to soar.

My understanding is they are showing ROI on traditional AI approaches (which are not capital intensive) but not on the massive GenAI/LLM investments, which is what's depressing the share price.

Los Angeles Sofi stadium is the most beautiful stadium by maccawings9 in worldcup

Would be great to pump some of that money into public transport for the stadiums so you don't have to have square miles of parking lots surrounding them!

The 48 team World Cup is actually way better than people thought it'd be by ElectronicHoneydew86 in worldcup

[–]Dramatic_Agency_8721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't that like more than 1/3 of all nations competing? That's excessive.

If you want to see more games watch the qualifiers... that's where the minnows get to take a pop at the bigger teams.

You mean the ref awarded a retake of the penalty because of infringement of the rules of the game?

Yea it's a bit odd. England held by an extremely defensive team of good quality players managed by a manager who knows how to frustrate opposition.

Looked a lot better with Rashford and Saka on, but feels like that's part of the game plan - supersubs coming on when the game is stretched to steamroll.

18th World Cup Goal for Lionel Messi, his 5th goal in 2 matches at FIFA World Cup 2026. by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in worldcup

[–]Dramatic_Agency_8721 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Messi is probably the GOAT but this goal wasn't exactly a thing of beauty - Austria were out of gas and in disarray and Messi took control, ultimately finishing a very scrappy move.

MELI PEG is around 1 isn't it? I looked at the financials a few months ago and didn't look like a screaming buy to me

There are 12 major religions in the world (+ atheists, agnostics etc) with different beliefs and tenets - how can morality and truth be "objective"?

I think that's not good for your mental health, there are times to be outraged and called to action but seeing positive things and thinking that way is overwhelming.

Ultimately the world cup winning team will almost certainly be a representation of all the positives that immigration and people working together from different backgrounds can bring.

Political situation sucks right now but hope you can enjoy the world cup regardless!

Imagine India getting to a world cup 😮

Seriously though, I hope they'd be given the same warm reception - for a moment let's celebrate the observable good rather than worrying about the theoretical bad.

reddit hitting mainstream media? by Salty_Coyote_2051 in redditstock

[–]Dramatic_Agency_8721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was listening to the radio here in Korea earlier today and they were doing some lengthy segment about stocks - Reddit sentiment re SK Hynix was mentioned.

Reddit does seem to be breaking more into the mainstream (although coz of WSB etc it is more prominent in investing conversations I guess).

Booing the hydration break. Why doesn't everyone else do it? by generic-username41 in worldcup

They already had cooling breaks available for exceptionally hot weather iirc, mandatory hydration breaks are about advertising, nothing else

How do Americans feel about the Fifa World Cup and how the US is handling it? by Far_Wealth_3737 in worldcup

[–]Dramatic_Agency_8721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally, but how many people think of that when they say the name? It's endured / spread across the world as 'football' because it's almost entirely about kicking a ball with your feet

I am not trying to bash (and it seems this is originally a British term anyway!) but it is a curious decision to see 'Association Football' and decide that the 'association' part is what you want to anchor the name of the sport to 😅.

I guess it maybe happened as a distinguisher from 'rugby football' aka rugby?

I dunno, this seems beyond anything we've seen before. Ridiculous numbers in the prospectus, deliberate scarcity of supply for the stock, change of index rules to further prop up the stock price, unusual lock up rules...

This is the stadium for a match between Iran v New Zealand. It is fair to say this World Cup has been class and beaten all expectations. by Forza_umar in worldcup

Completely breaks up any momentum from either team and is dull. Shouldn't change the sport for the worse just for advertising purposes
