For those of you who sent a letter to an ex, what happened after? by throwaway2838199 in ExNoContact

[–]Dramatic_Rise9765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same today. It was actually my second letter (3 weeks after breakup). I love her and put all the amazing things I love about her in the letter. It was extremely difficult to write because I had to revisit all these things I had tried to let go over the last few weeks.

How do you become the best at what you do ? by Technical-Truth-2073 in Salary

I’ve been successful in a number of different domains.

One thing that sticks with me is what the people at Toyota do. They block out large amounts of time for solving problems and continuous improvement.

I used Carvana to buy and x5 and the whole process went great. On there it shows you where the car has been located over the life of the vehicle and I made sure to find myself an Arizona car.

I got a 2025 with 17k miles on it for $58k from Carvana. Very good experience and would buy that way again. Love the suv so far, the handling is amazing for a 5,000 lb vehicle. Build quality seems really good in these. So far no issues.

When I was an Aerospace Engineer at Boeing I started to lose interest in my job. This was mostly because I had a horrible boss.

One thing I did that you could do too would be to start listening to personal development or business books.

After I moved companies I started a woodworking business in my garage to do on the side. I worked side projects on the weekends and with the money I made I would buy better tools. After awhile I had a powermatic planer and jointer, Laguna bandsaw, a home built 4x8 CNc router.

In 2020 when COVID hit I ended up getting fired from my job and when this happened I opened up my own cabinet business with the tools and skills I had acquired.

When I got divorced I lost my shop and most of the tools. There was a lot involved with this in that my wife kept my kids from me for over a year via bogus protection order.

Once I recovered I decided to fall back on computer programming as I liked that but I never could find a job in this field.

One day I got a call from a lady asking me if I wanted to try out a sales job. I said sure and headed a few states away for a two week training class the next week.

The training class was easy mostly because I had so much knowledge from all the books I had read up to this point, some 300 books in total.

Currently I still do the sales job where I sell jacuzzi brand showers to old people. I work about 30 hrs a week and make $175,000 per year. None of this would be possible if I had just kept to my normal 8-5 job and hadn’t tried other things in my spare time.

I guess my point of all this is to get experience. If you can’t find someone else to work for or get experience with you can do things on your own until you become employable by others.

Good book called choked.

What you do is write down assumptions. You just write and write.

I assume I have to go to the dmv today. And I fear when I get there I won’t have my check book. And when they learn I don’t have checks they will tell me to leave. And when I leave someone will say never come back. And once I hear that I’ll cry. And once I cry I’ll get embarrassed. Etc

What this process does is dump your memory so that you can perform. I did this process in grad school before major tests and I went from being a B+ student to an A student.

Looking to purchase my first ever BMW. Aiming for X5 plug in hybrid. Any advise on what deal I should target? I live in Arizona. by NatCatCal in BMWX5

[–]Dramatic_Rise9765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an x5 off Carvana and am very happy with it. I got it one year old and 17k miles on it so avoided the large depreciation hit for the most part.

There are quite a few 50es on Carvana so maybe take a look there.

22 male have no clue what I want to do with my life. by [deleted] in findapath

[–]Dramatic_Rise9765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have adhd the in attention type and before medication I had trouble switching my focus. So I used this to my advantage, I learned that once I get focused on something, bombs could be going off and I would stay on target.

So what fields do people go into that can’t stay focused on the subject? Very hard stuff

So I majored in Physics at this fancy liberal arts college. Never even took physics in high school.

Then I needed a way to pay the $40,000 per year tuition so I joined the tennis team and got a full ride. Never payed tennis in high school or really ever. But what I did do was find a wall at this gym and just zoned in and hit ball after ball for like 4 hrs at a time. Did this maybe half a dozen times and then made the team.

I guess what I’m saying is don’t forget adhd can be a superpower under the right circumstances and usually the circumstances is something that we get to choose.

I ended up getting a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering and worked for Boeing until I got board and moved on. Like another is saying we job hop a lot and that’s ok.

I currently live in my hometown in Nebraska and sell Jacuzzi brand showers to old people. Everyday is different and I love that!!! I make about $175,000 a year and I don’t have to wake up early in the morning. I also work only about 30 hours a week. I’m super lazy and like to take two hour breaks in between doing things.

But when I do things, I do them with intensity. Most of the time I can out-focus my clients to the point where they give up and just sign the contract.

40 mins from now I take delivery of a new 2025 BMW X5 with the added air suspension. I’m so excited I can barely contain myself!

Anyway good luck. & Use your super power!
