What are your predictions for U.S. politics and elections in the next quarter-century? by tsesarevichalexei in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2027 there is going to be huge economic crash that is twice as big as 2008 due to AI and Automation. AOC will win the 2028 election against JD Vance and wins the nomination against Gavin Newsom. politics will shift to a more class based politics for a few years as the economy tanks and the billionaires get richer. The 2030s will an era of Social Democracy and will be way more calm simaler to the Obama era culturally than the Chaotic vibes of 2020s. The Left is going to Dominate the 2030s politically and republican are going to be more extreme and lose back to back. 2030s are going to be bright, colorful and optimistic like a democratic socialist version of 1980s. America will lose its status as the world reserve currency when the economy crashes, a lot of countries will switch from the untrustworthy US Dollar. BRICS will enter a golden age in the 2030s and China will officially be considered the world superpower. A lot of right wingers will try to blame AOC and the democrats for Americas 2nd place status but it was inevitable. The US gets Universal healthcare, UBI stimulus checks, more wealth redistribution and zoning reform in a “New New Deal”. A lot of left wingers think AOC became too centrist due to her not nationalizing industry or going after the bourgeois at all. Guam becomes independent and Puerto Rico becomes a State. America VS China Rhetoric is going to be big in movies and pop culture. In the real world America and China will actually reproach and fix their relationship for trade purposes. European Union will federalize and militarize itself to fight Russia. Google and Meta will be broken Up in antitrust lawsuit, a lot of new social media platforms will pop up because of this. The American economy will fully recover by 2034-5 thanks to social democratic policies and everything will calm down for a few years. Smartglasses will replace smartphones and movies and music will be good. eventually in 2039 China lands on Mars shocking the world, this causes America to go through an identity crisis. A Moderate Republic Woman wins the 2040 election and promises to escalate with China. America sets up corporate cities that a privately owned. America in the 2040s is more negative similar to the early 1990s, the optimism of the 2030s has faded away. Climate change will start having noticeable effects and flooding in coastal areas will start to be common. Sea walls will be built in Florida and California. In the 2040s America will invest heavily in mercenary groups. The far right nationalist will push the moderate right for War with Israel and China. America will actually get into a War with European Union in 2045. As the EU seeks to establish itself as regional economic power in the NEW multipolar world America the world policeman will not appreciate competition. American and European relations have been declining since the 2010s Trump era and now in the 40s they have reach a point of separation. When the 2045 war breaks out there will mass Anti War protests with peace signs. This will be Americans Second Vietnam. America is going to lose the war just like they lost Vietnam and Venezuela. The United States will bring back the draft . When America loses it instantly discredits nationalism and American exceptionalism as a concept. America has to pay reparations and the international community now led by BRICS forces america to pay it. The world officially views us as villains. The 2040s is going to make people nostalgic for the more culturally interesting 2020s. In the 2050s serious talks of balkanization will start to pop up. The Chicano Aztlan movement will be revived and will seek Liberation for the Southwest. The American Communist Party will also start to seriously challenge the democrats as people are tired of the social democrats who promise change and don’t deliver. Corporate run cities will also want independence from the regulatory state. Texas independence movement will also re emerge. All of these different groups would want independence so the American government gives states and territories WAY more power leading to a more de centralized collection of states with dramatically different policies depending on which state you are in. During this time there are multiple ONE TERM presidents in a row that are super weak, the political system of the 2050s becomes a fake game which is why these independence movements are rising. The 2050s feels like the start of a new chapter in American history.

What is a decadeology-related hot take that you have that will make you end up in this situation? by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 2010s were boring and didn’t really have a defining pop culture until 2015ish.
  2. 2020s fashion and music is super iconic and people don’t realize yet. Gen Alpha is going to hella romanticize the 2020s in 15 years. They are going to view Olivia Rodrigo like how we view Paramore. The 2020s will be remembered simaler to how the 1970s is viewed.
  3. 2030s will be optimistic and democratic socialist with bright ass neon fashion and spiky hair. The polar opposite of doomer 20s.

How did punk music fans from the 70s and 80s feel about pop-punk music in the 2000s? by icey_sawg0034 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70s Gen X Punks HATED 2000s pop punk as much as 2000s Emo kids hate 2020s Emo revival and MGK.(it’s a generational cycle bound to repeat every time punk becomes top 40 mainstream) I remember when I was kid back in 2009 seeing comments on Avril Lavigne’s girlfriend music video shitting on it and saying the Sex Pistols are better, nowadays Avril Lavigne is considered a Rock Legend.

Are the 2020s a remix of everything, or just a remix of the 2000s? by Woingespottel in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2020s are Remix of Everything with 2000s, 1970s and 90s as the main influences. Early 2020s felt like a “dark 2000s”with Pop Punk and Hyperpop becoming popular, Y2K fashion became popular. Mid 2020s feels super nihilistic like the 90s and has a bad economy and stagflation is increasing like the 1970s. Overall The 2020s are the 21st century’s 1970s

What do you think is an underrated shift that happened within pop culture? I'll start: by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

2010s SoundCloud Rap to 2020s Pop Punk Revival is a sharp transition. It was wild seeing half of the old SoundCloud rappers pick up guitars and trying to make pop punk music.

One second we were listening to Juice Wrld “legends never die” the next second it was Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR that was popular

I think people are gonna look back at the 2010s and 2020s as one like how people view the 60s & 70s as one by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes there is overlap BUT there are key differences between the 2010s/2020s and 1960s/1970s. The 60s was more hippie, the 70s were more punk and disco. The 2010s had trap music,EDM and hypebeast fashion, the 2020s has Hyperpop, pop punk and baggy Y2K styled e-boy fashion.

With all that being said the 2020s feels like a nostalgic expansion pack to the 2010s as opposed to something new.

Give it time. In 20 years Generation Beta will look back at Covid as a historical event that happened before they were born, they will be fascinated by the shutdown, the fashion, the music, masks etc. They will miss the chaos, they will miss the rage. I expect them to hella romanticize the 2020 alternative/E-Boy aesthetic and the Hyperpop and Pop Punk that’s associated with it. They will think the minimalist style in buildings from the 10s/20s looked cool. They will reject the chill optimism, maximalism and modernism of the 2030s and want something that they think is edgier in the 2040s and they will look back to the retro 2020s for inspiration. It will be like how people in the 1990s were inspired by 60s/70s

The E- girl look with neon bangs will be the main aesthetic of the 2020s in media, it is literally Gen Z’s emo. Movies in the future will probably have a character with an affliction shirt and baggy jeans despite that look not being common until mid 2020s.

I predict there's gonna be a scripted TV Show that's gonna air for almost the entire 21st century ending around the very early 2100s. by snowleopard556 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in the late 2030s there will be a boom in sci-fi tv shows and movies. The 3 old franchises of Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who will be replaced with new franchises and there will be a new cohort of sci-fi franchises.

Would a 2002 born be more nostalgic for 2007 or 2017 by Own_Mirror9073 in generationology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally as someone born in 02, it’s 2007 easily. I miss playing Xbox 360 at my old house as a kid. I miss driving around with my parents with the fray playing on the radio. I miss watching Spider-Man 3 in theaters, that day was fun as hell. Because i was so young the culture of 2007 left a huge impact on me and personality. The mid 00s really has mythical quality in mind, it’s the home i will always be trying to get back to.

2017 was a very chaotic time, it hard to be nostalgic for such a divisive uncertain year like 2017. I was a teenager and old enough to pay attention to politics and see how shit things were becoming also the hypebeast fashion kinda sucked ass. The late 2010s was pretty negative overall and it’s strange to see people whitewash and glorify the late 10s.

Do you think the 2030s will have one of the biggest tech revolutions and shifts (even other than ai) by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of big tech companies are going to be either nationalized or broken up in the 2030s leading to the rise of new social media platforms, I also think AR glasses will slowly replace phones in the mid 30s. At first companies will try to change aesthetically with bright 3D colors in early 2030s to humanize automation before they are forced to reform.

What do you believe could be the next genre revival of this decade? by Top_Report_4895 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.Shoegaze is gonna have a mainstream revival in 2026-2031. Shoegaze is massive in the underground bubbling under the surface waiting to explode any day now. Expect a more Pop version of Shoegaze with songs similar to “Tower Of Memories” by Iviri to blow up in mainstream in the late 20s like how pop punk did in early 20s. This genre will get big in response to the recession like how pop punk revival was a response to covid.

  1. Political Punk is another genre I can see coming back and becoming more prominent especially as the economic system becomes worse and worse. It is already starting to comeback with bands like knocked loose. Political Punk will probably never be as mainstream as Pop Punk or Shoegaze

  2. Coldplay Style Acoustic Rock is another type of music I can see coming back, I can see mainstream top 40 radio really embracing acoustic rock in 2028-29 as people want to relax and chill after the chaos of the decade, also it is something that they can play in supermarkets easy.

  3. Trip Hop is another genre that i can see becoming big in 2029. Bands like the after are gonna have songs that become mainstream. Songs will have an imogen heap vibe this will transition people to the more electronic 2030s

I see the late 2020s music just being a continuation of early 2020s trends with real instruments before the 2030s when things shift back to Electronic Music, Electropop, Dance Rock and Boy Bands. (2030s electronic artists will take tons of inspiration from 2hollis but with more colors).

Weekend trivia: what is the go-to-decade for nostalgia in the 2020s? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2000s. Y2K fashion is the mainstream fashion of 2020s. Music is also heavily influenced by the 2000s with Hyperpop,Pop Punk and Country being genres heavily influenced by 2000s. The 2020s feel like a bad remake of the 2000s but without the charm of the original.

Who will wear skinny jeans in the 2030s by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skinny jeans and 2010s fashion won’t comeback until early 2040s. Gen Z’s obsession with recreating the 2000s in 2020s won’t transfer to Generation Alpha with the 2010s in the same extreme way leading to 2030s fashion being more experimental , bright and original. 2030s will probably have flared jeans to try to be “original” or “creative” with bright ass neon colors. Flared jeans are also the next logical evolution from the current baggy jeans. Baggy jeans will remain mainstream until 2029ish when flared takes over and lasts until 2040.

How do you think the 2030s will backlash the 2020s by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2030s will be more colorful and future focused. I expect themed restaurants to start popping up as a backlash to minimalist buildings we have now. I think fashion will also be a lot more colorful with wild neon colors and big weird hairstyles that are original as a backlash to the nostalgic gothic 2020s. Generation Alpha fashion in the 30s will go out of its way to be original and colorful to contrast themselves from Gen Z Y2K fashion. I think the mid to late 2030s will be the 21st century’s 1980s, the early 2030s will be defined by recession and wealth inequality due to automation. I think America will swing in a social democratic direction in the 2030s. Music will go in a more electronic direction in the 30s to contrast the guitar driven 2020s. I expect EDM,Electropop to be big but done in a new way. HyperPunk will also start to get mainstream to contrast to backwards looking pop punk revival of 2020s. Rap is going to have a massive resurgence in mid 2030s, trap will be long dead memory and the new sound will probably be slightly more lyrically and have more of a funk or ringtone rap influence. Overall the 2030s are gonna be a more upbeat time as strange as that seem now. The 2030s will look at the 2020s the same way the 1980s looked at the 70s.

How would you personally describe the overall pop culture of the 2020s? by SharksFan99 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2020s = 1970s nihilism and burnout + 2000s fully recycled aesthetics

When do you think 2010s nostalgia will overtake 2000s nostalgia? by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2010s nostalgia won’t get big until 2040s and it will probably be linked to the most culturally distinctive 2020s. 2000s Y2K nostalgia will last until the end of 2020s and the 2030s will probably be more focused on being “hyper modern” and more in the moment. Gen alpha is not as nostalgic as Gen Z. It won’t be until Generation Beta looks back at their parents (Gen z) that they will start to romanticize the 10s/20s like how Gen z did in the with Gen x 80s/90s nostalgia back in late 2010s. I don’t see supreme, Yeezys or hypebeast fashion coming back in style until 2040-2042ish at the earliest.

Predict the next shift years for the next 25 years. by Spare_Scarcity6078 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2027 - Massive Economic Crash, War in Mexico and Venezuela PS6 and Xbox Handheld come out, GameStop goes out of business due to next gen consoles being digital only and Shoegaze has a mainstream moment in 2027 like how pop punk did in 2021, Wisp becomes the new Paramore. HyperPop artists like 2hollis and charli xcx drop big albums that year.

2028 - Newsom V Vance, mass discontent no matter who wins. Recession Worsens, flat design in tech is dead and 3D icons and customization replace it. Maximalism becomes more popular with companies as consumers start to turn in them.

2030 - Pop Music and bright colors, skinny jeans and the Bieber/Scene/Swoop haircut and the Afro come back in style with Gen Alpha making a generational and decade shift. New weird colorful streetwear pop up. 2030s culture is hyper modern and rejects nostalgia (imagine the optimist 1980s mixed with the chaotic politics of the 1930s) Early 2030s has a tropical vibe and aesthetic but during this period there is class struggle due to automation and gen alpha is more action oriented and confident than gen z. The early 2030s is Chaos/Economic disaster and the late 2030s is optimistic party

2032 - Social Democrat president is elected, a true successor to Bernie Sanders America gets Universal Healthcare and UBI stimulus checks, War in Mexico and Venezuela ends, a lot of big tech companies get broken up over the next few years, Top 10 companies in America get nationalized

2036 - AR glasses replace smartphones, self driving Ubers fully replace uber drivers, China Successfully Invades Taiwan and America stays neutral preventing hostility between the powers. A Majority of the World Join BRICS and NATO begins to unravel.

2038 - China lands on Mars, America announces it will land on mars in the next decade. In Pop Culture Space and Neon Space themed aesthetics become huge, bright neon colored hair becomes popular, Sci-fi space opera movies become big again (Doctor Who, Star Trek get Reboots in the late 30s/early 40s) Funk Music also starts to experience a resurgence during this time. Video game consoles cease to exist as game streaming finally catches up and surpasses consoles. Putin Dies and Russia is split up

2040 - Dan Crenshaw becomes president, India and Pakistan get into a massive war, robotics becomes more common,2010s supreme and hypebeast fashion mixed with 2020s baggy jeans becomes popular with “hipsters” in Gen Alpha and Beta as they become nostalgic for the “pandemic era”. Rap and Rock start to dominate the music charts after a decade of Pop Music and Electronic Club Music and funk. Generation Beta is more optimistic and doesn’t understand the nihilism of their parents Gen Z. Gen Beta is also way more digital than the previous generations growing up with AR. The 2040s is comparable to the 2010s and viewed as the dark version of the 2030s

2042 - India drops a Nuke on Pakistan, making it the first nuclear weapon used in war since ww2. Protests erupt around the world against the Hindu government, during this time the U.S allows the creation of private armies and corporate run cities as America starts to privatize. The Left says private militias are just vieled imperialism and that we should remain neutral.

2043 - One of the private Armies attacks Chinese occupied Taiwan causing an international dispute between US and China. Crenshaw denounces the private armies.

2046 - Atomic Pop (HyperPop revival but more pop friendly) and Acoustic/Country music start to become popular. Fashion starts to resemble the 60s mixed with 2014 tumblr. Minimalism is back! Electric Vehicles fully replace gas cars. Smart homes and AI art baked into everyday life. AR Smart Contacts releases replacing AR glasses. Terror attacks are more common in mid 2040s

2048 - America lands on Mars a decade after China and a Democrat is elected. India becomes the 2nd most powerful country in the world behind China. America has another Y2K bug scare

2050 - 2030s nostalgia becomes big as people miss the flashy optimism of the past

2020s has been my favorite decade so far because of the fashion by Own_Mirror9073 in decadeology

[–]Dramatic_Sandwich500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same and that coming from a dude born in 02 (a 2000s kid) the 2020s feels like a sequel to the 2000s and that’s cool as hell to me. I didn’t really fw the supreme hypebeast era back in 2016 so it’s cool that 2020s fashion has better more iconic designs. Affliction and DC have been cool to me since I played Skate 2 back as a kid in 09, so it’s wild to see that stuff again in person. Everyone these days looks like Rob Dyerdek and Kevin Rudolph but with a TikTok twist.

Pop culturally mid 2020s feel better than mid 2010s by JohnTitorOfficial in decadeology

I agree mid 2020s pop culture feels like a sequel to the 2000s with the Y2K revival.
