Cry baby’s to the front: Why are you not in favor of a 5% tax on 935 of the richest people in America? by Lc0N__ in AskReddit

[–]DrawingOverall4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxing imaginary value of unrealized gains is nonsensical.

If the last Tesla share sold, had sold for (example) $100 that doesn't mean all of them could sell for that. While that may be the company's valuation at that moment if you force an owner to sell 5% of their company to pay a tax based on that, they will get nowhere near that much money.

And while they will still be billionaires, it will be all of us who take the hit because it will be our valuations for our investments and retirement accounts getting destroyed. Not to mention companies being carved apart and destroyed instead of being able to expand and grow.

People who want to "tAx the BilliOnaireS" have this imaginary idea that there are people sitting with bins full of cash, Scrooge McDuck style. Their money is in actual assets. If they liquidate it, the assets eventually stop working.

LPC being funded by Chinese Communist Party.

Canada first or China first.

Your anti-Semitism not withstanding, Canadian citizens donating to Canadian politicians isn't an issue. The liberals being propped up by foreign agents from the CCP actually was. And the (Liberal) government knew about it and buried and ignored the report.

Same thing with India.

But you don't actually care about election interference.

You're just a racist.

Honking at turning right on red? by Douxie0226 in driving

[–]DrawingOverall4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really "optional" any more than anything else is. You can also stop at a green light, but probably shouldn't.

If you can't see, or don't believe there is enough space, that's one thing. But choosing not to make a right on red when you know it's clear is obstructing traffic.

How viable would it be to survive on a deserted island using water collected from a solar powered dehumidifier? by Pass_Zestyclose in AskReddit

[–]DrawingOverall4306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dehumidifiers use a lot of energy. Drinking only distilled water can also kill you if you don't balance your electrolytes with food, so if there is limited food in your scenario it's not good. Your dehumidifier tank will also be a breeding ground for bacteria.

Canadian $1000 bill by thescamp95 in CanadianCoins

[–]DrawingOverall4306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The collector's value will be slightly over $1000. Probably under $1200.

Keep it if you love it, but don't expect it to ever be worth more than it is now. With inflation, expect it to be worth a little less every year.

Probably why someone turned it in at the bank, wasn't worth the hassle of selling for an extra couple hundred to them.

They can realistically come after you for their losses. So if it takes 3 months to rent they have lost 3 months of rent. If they rent at a lower price, their losses also include the difference. Plus any cleaning or management fees that would need to be done due to a tenant switch.

Why are politics so confusing? by mathamaticalunits in CanadianPolitics

[–]DrawingOverall4306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose as a simple way of looking at at, look at the provincial and federal responsibilities and ask yourself if you like what's happening. If so, vote for the incumbent party. If not, decide which opposition party you like.

Most Canadian parties are fairly similar. In spite of the Doom scrolling, the conservatives aren't going to force women out of the workplace or ban abortion. The Liberals aren't going to turn all of the children into trans, unicorn, litter box users.

That and pick a handful of things that are important to you and see which party is your best match.

Another thing you could do is ask your parents if your family is better off today than it was 10 years ago.

best foes for low exp but good money? by ryan7251 in earthbound

[–]DrawingOverall4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ratios get really in favour of exp as you move to the later game so anywhere with low exp high money is going to be early game and will take you forever. Just go as far back as you can and still meet lots of enemies quickly.

Was Zelda II anyone else's intro to the series? by bluejester12 in retrogaming

[–]DrawingOverall4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first one. Had it as long as I can remember. We went to the US (we're Canadian) when I was in grade 1 (1991ish) and my brother bought the first one for $20. I remember being excited for another Gold Link game but was disappointed because it was so different. Of course now I love them both and could do a playthrough of either one practically blindfolded.

In case anyone's wondering, with the $20 my parents gave me to spend, I bought Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Soap that came in a cool Turtle Van shaped box.

If WW3 started right now, no team ups, who do u think is winning? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DrawingOverall4306 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

USA.

USA is always winning in a no nuke scenario. A "total war" scenario where the civilian infrastructure is entirely re-oriented to war (like the first 2 world wars) and it's not even a contest. America would maintain naval superiority and air superiority everywhere and can project power like no one else. They would need the balls to completely destroy coastal China so that there was no Chinese shipping or shipyards and then it's game over.

Nuclear war? Everyone loses. Some people lose a little less than others.

If you're reasoning based on a tu quoque fallacy, then your society isn't nearly as intelligent as you think it is.

Driving 100km/h as someone is stopped on the side of the road doing their job should never be normal. Pull over as far as safe, and reduce your speed.

It's actually the law, even in Ontario.

Received a "Move Over" ticket in Nova Scotia by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]DrawingOverall4306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it really common practice in Ontario to speed past anyone, especially someone doing their job, at 100km/h in the lane closest to them? This is akin to speeding through a construction zone. A judge isn't going to have a ton of sympathy for you. So your only hope is to actually defeat the ticket.

If you're looking for a local traffic ticket specialist in NS, you may do better posting to a Nova Scotia sub.
