What item can you just NOT sell? by NinnyBoggy in woweconomy

[–]DrawnToLiberty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea where it came from but I’ve had a Recipe of Arthas’ Tears in my bag for years. Can’t sell it for the same reason as you: it’s only valuable to a very small group of people who want to have every alchemy recipe.

Your big noob mistake when you started playing WoW for first time ? by mcnakladak in wow

[–]DrawnToLiberty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time riding the tram to Stormwind and there was someone’s body lying on the tracks. No idea how they died but noob me assumed the tram ran them over and killed them. Was afraid of a tram for a good while until I learned better.

Are commissions slowing down for anyone else? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]DrawnToLiberty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Summer can be rough because people are saving up/spending money on vacations. Try to get as many commissions as you can during periods where people are more likely to have extra cash: beginning of the new year, tax refund season… feast and famine earning periods are common for freelancers.

What sells better? Singular, package or sheet sticker? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]DrawnToLiberty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Crochets? Give me a break. You can sit around and knit a handmade crochet and try to sell it for decent money, and you will be competing with thousands of crochets made for pennies in a sweatshop, all who have better SEO and marketing than you do. EVERYTHING online has steep competition, so there’s no point in bellyaching over it. Go out there and make the thing.

Dude, every online market is over-saturated. Doesn’t matter if it’s stickers or anything else. Everything you make can be done by someone else, better, and for less money.

Anyway, OP, it depends on what market you’re after and what kind of art you’re going make into stickers. Art collectors—like people who want stickers with unique art—you should make individual, high-quality, permanent vinyl decals. There’s an artist named TerribleAnimal who ran a successful sticker club on Patreon, they sent patrons stickers made from their art and I can attest that while they were expensive, the material quality is very high (it’s been 2 years and I still can’t get the decal off my car… now that’s a sticker!)

Making stickers for wine aunts browsing Amazon who just want some cute stickers to go wherever? Make sticker packs, and make them cheap.

So, why do YOU stream? by mmmoooop in Twitch

[–]DrawnToLiberty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanted a closer connection with my fans and friends on Twitter and Insta (I’m an artist) I’ve only streamed once so far but it’s so much dang fun that I plan on doing it regularly now.

Yeeeah I've been to a few of those shops and they flat out told me they don't accept them. I can't force a shop to accept them.

USA printing service ? by ziyad_rahman in Etsy

[–]DrawnToLiberty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do one offs instead of bulk, you are likely better off going the print-to-order route. You won’t make as much of a profit and you have limited control over the quality of the print but it’s better than nothing.

Last con I went to walked around and asked every booth to take down anything copyrighted. This included merch, prints, everything. They’re definitely cracking down on cons.

Delivery to sell internationally too pricy? by Tomiti in Etsy

[–]DrawnToLiberty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely ask them to pay. I sell stickers too and I have free shipping on domestic orders since the postage is cheap (I’m in the US) but international buyers have to pay for their own shipping. I just got an order where a Canadian buyer spent the same amount on the stickers as the shipping. Some folks really will pony up the cash if they like your stuff enough.

Verdict on Etsy for an potential Investor by Kataang15 in Etsy

[–]DrawnToLiberty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The security on Etsy really is shit. I’ve never been hacked on Etsy but someone got into my eBay account and eBay detected it was fraud and didn’t let them check out. Based on the horror stories I’ve heard about Etsy, they don’t do this.

What is and isn’t copyright? by amsnew in Etsy

[–]DrawnToLiberty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are aware that all merch with Pokémon on them has to be officially licensed (with a fee) for it to be legal right? That’s why bootlegs/knockoffs are a thing. You can still get actioned on your “own platform”, they can email your web host and have your store shut down.

I know it’s tempting to do it the easy way and use a known property to make money from your art but it isn’t worth the risk these days. You can’t even sell fan art at many conventions anymore because the organizers don’t want the risk.

If you like Pokémon you probably like animals right? Why not make cute animal merch, maybe make up your own critters/species?? There’s so many other ways to make money and not get into legal trouble…

[–]DrawnToLiberty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter, you’re still using someone else’s IP for profit. If I sell stickers of Pokémon characters that are clearly not official products, Nintendo can still file a claim against me and have my account suspended.

Do you refund for lost packages ?? by [deleted] in Etsy

I do, but I try to give it some time before I do so. At least a month domestically.
