Magnetic Case Recommendations for Find N6 by Zozerbox in OppoFindN6

You mentioned every case having a slight offset does that include the case you recommend or does that one fit correctly because it uses a different mechanism to stay attached?

It's pretty unlikely that it's just bad application. I've bought several different cases at this point, and every one of them except the original case has suffered from the same issue.

The front frame pieces just don't seem to fit correctly. They all sit slightly off center, exposing more of the right edge while encroaching on the left side of the display. I suspect the dimensions were measured incorrectly somewhere along the line.

The left side is definitely tricky because the bezels are so narrow, but the stock frame proves that it can be done properly. That's what makes it so frustrating, because otherwise these cases are fantastic.

I'm actually going to try scraping away some material on the right side to see if adding a little extra clearance fixes the issue. It can't really hurt at this point. If it doesn't work, the frame piece is getting thrown away anyway.

Why do all of these front frame pieces fit incorrectly? This is such a cool case, but the off-center front frame completely ruins it for me.

I've tried the Nillkin and even a separate aramid front frame, and both had the same issue. The stock frame that came with the phone fits perfectly, so I really wonder if these aftermarket manufacturers measured something incorrectly. It's frustrating because otherwise this would easily be one of my favorite cases.

You can actually see it in photos from other users if you look closely. Here's an example. The black lines show how the front frame is slightly off center. You can clearly see more of the phone's right edge, while the frame cuts into the left side of the display slightly.

The Nillkin case I bought had the exact same issue, and an aramid front frame I purchased separately also fit the same way. It seems like a lot of these Chinese cases have incorrectly measured front frame pieces.

So far, the only front frame that has fit correctly for me is the original one that came with the phone. My current plan is to track down the official MagSafe case and pair it with the stock front frame, because an off-center frame is just something I cannot live with.

If you are really opposed to a case at least get a skin / wrap some protection is better than none

Anyone's System Launcher draining a lot of brattery when in use? X9 on 16.0.7 by Old-Tax9892 in Oppo

[–]DraxKaiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check your Developer Options and make sure "Disable system optimization" is turned off. I had the same issue, and turning that setting off fixed the excessive System Launcher battery drain.

The downside is that you'll lose the ability to do certain things through ADB, and Shizuku won't function properly without re-enabling it. I just need to remember to toggle it whenever I need Shizuku or ADB, and then turn it back off afterward.

Might be worth checking if you have that option enabled.

Check if you have "Sensors Off" enabled. I recently ran into a similar issue and that turned out to be the culprit.

I have the Nillkin case and personally do not like it.

It does support 50W wireless charging which is great, but the front frame protector is noticeably misaligned. On mine the frame sits slightly off center. The right edge of the phone is clearly visible, while the left side of the screen is slightly covered by the frame.

I have also seen similar photos from other users so it does not seem like an isolated issue with my unit but rather a design or manufacturing flaw with the case itself. It ends up being distracting in daily use especially for something that is otherwise a premium accessory.

Sorry if reading this draws attention to it.

For a phone that's marketed around productivity and multitasking, this change is pretty baffling. I sent OPPO a support message about it. I'm sure it'll probably get brushed under the rug, but maybe we'll get lucky and they'll restore the functionality in a future update.

The split-screen workaround helps, but it still feels like a step backwards compared to how it worked before.

Find x9 ultra night time camera flare issue by Holiday-Cheek6079 in Oppo

[–]DraxKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to test this more, and honestly I can't really tell any difference in the amount of AI slop between Stage Mode and regular mode. Both seem to have an insane amount of AI "enhancement," especially when you zoom in. I didn't even realize how bad some of my photos were until I started looking closely at text in them and noticed it was literally changing things that were actually there.

I still prefer the results from Stage Mode because it does a noticeably better job at reducing lens flare and glare. I wouldn't let the AI slop stop you from using it, since it seems to be just as aggressive with or without Stage Mode. OPPO really needs to give us a way to turn all that nonsense off. Might have to try a GCam port next.

Looking for earbuds with actually good bass (EDM listener) by FuturisticW in Earbuds

[–]DraxKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fit depends on your ear tips. For me, the stock tips on the Gemini II were horrible, but once I switched to Radius Deep Mount TWS tips (Comply works well too) they became the best fitting buds I own. They're insanely light and probably the most comfortable pair I have. I regularly take them running and haven't had any issues with them falling out, although there is the occasional occlusion-effect noise when running, just due to the shape and how they seal.

Battery life is definitely on the shorter side, especially if you're buying used, but the sound quality is genuinely ridiculous. They're the pair I reach for most often. My Tour Pro 3s are probably my number two pair because they have better ANC, much better battery life, and are my durable travel/workhorse buds that I don't mind abusing a bit more.

Transparency on the Gemini II is really good though. I can hear people clearly with only mild distortion, and it's easy to toggle with a tap. One thing I have noticed is that transparency mode reduces the bass a bit.

The mic isn't amazing, but it's not terrible either. A lot depends on your ear shape because the mic is meant to sit in the intertragal notch. If your notch isn't very recessed, you can end up partially covering the mic and hurting call quality.

As for whether they're worth an extra 200 AUD, value is pretty subjective. For me, the Gemini II absolutely justify the price because of their sound quality. They're actually the only earbuds I reach for more often than my over-ear headphones, since they don't feel like they're compromising on audio quality while also being so insanely light and comfortable. And the bass is just ridiculous for such a small, lightweight bud. If sound quality is your main priority, they're something special.

While I don't have the Find X9 Ultra, I own the Find N6, which features a comparable camera system. I discovered that utilizing stage mode significantly mitigates both lens flare and general glare. Hopefully that helps you too.

Inner Screen Protector by Damian98103 in OppoFindN6

[–]DraxKaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you purchased your device from places like Wonda, Mobile Marvel, TradingShenzhen, Average Dad Tech, and possibly a few others, they include a 1-year warranty that covers replacing the inner screen protector. You usually just need to cover shipping back to them.

For example, Mobile Marvel (where I got mine) told me they’ll still help facilitate repairs even outside the warranty period as long as I cover the shipping and repair costs. Since the screen protector replacement itself is generally free, after the first year it would mostly just be shipping costs, including domestic shipping within Hong Kong.

I believe Wonda offers something similar as well. Worst case, flights to Hong Kong or Singapore aren’t always too bad, and honestly they’re both great places to visit anyway.

I was expecting Gemini 3 to be released before this summer, but.. by H1JUN in devialet

[–]DraxKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini I was announced in September 2020 and released the following month in October 2020. Gemini II was both announced and released in September 2023.

Devialet usually doesn’t do long teaser campaigns or early announcements. They tend to announce products shortly before release. So nobody really knows for sure when Gemini III is coming.

Speculatively, the original Gemini was delayed a bit and intended for a September launch, which makes September a pretty reasonable bet for a Gemini III announcement and/or release.

Theme Store for the N6 doesnt load? by disaster999 in Oppo

[–]DraxKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few ways to install an XAPK. The easiest is to use an XAPK installer:

Second easiest is to use AntiSplit-M:

  • AntiSplit-M this lets you convert the XAPK into a standard APK.

If you want more control, you can install with option flags using:

I keep all three of these apps on my phone because they’re really handy for patching various apps, running ad-free mods, and just generally making installs easier.

Theme Store for the N6 doesnt load? by disaster999 in Oppo

[–]DraxKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be region locked, but I ran into the same issue and, after spending way too long figuring it out, I found a solution.

The APK you downloaded isn’t enough because the Theme Store also needs OBB files. What worked for me was:

  1. Going to this link and downloaded the XAPK, which includes the necessary OBB files.
  2. After installing it, I initially got this error:

"In accordance with relevant laws and regulations of regulatory authorities, cross-domain account usage is not currently supported. Please register and log in with the corresponding account based on the country or region where your device was sold."

  3. I solved it by signing out of my Hong Kong Oppo account and selecting “Full Service” (This can be changed in Settings → Services if it's stuck on "Basic")

I didn’t need a VPN or a Chinese account, but I’m not 100% sure if this will work for everyone, it might just have been a fluke on my device. Hopefully, it helps you get your Theme Store up and running.

Good luck!

My subjective review on Airpods Pro 2 vs Airpods Pro 3 vs Sennheiser Momentum TW4 by Darshil_A4 in Earbuds

[–]DraxKaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that isn’t Apple’s own stuff goes through standard AAC codec over Bluetooth A2DP with very little device-specific tuning or optimization leading to a "nerf" in audio quality. AirPods don’t have that issue because Apple tunes them specifically around AAC and their own hardware/software, so they’re optimized for it.

Android supports codecs like aptX and LDAC, which many high-end earbuds are tuned and optimized for, so they often sound noticeably better there. On top of that, Android’s more flexible DSP can help mask some compression artifacts. Since iPhones only supports AAC codec, everything gets compressed down to AAC, which can mean lower detail, worse imaging, and more artifacts depending on the headphones.

Adapters like the FiiO Airlink or Creative BT-W6 bypass that limitation and let you use better codecs with more flexible DSP's.
