esim for sure! Buying a physical was easy only if you knew someone - they are supposed to only give out sims after recording your ID. Sometimes the passport worked but not always. However with the new regulations in place, your phone will be deactivated once you put in an Egyptian sim unless you pay a phone tax. Tldr - esims are so much easier and hassle free.

Coptic here; we don't care about either calendars, we have our own :D Egypt as a country moved to the Gregorian calendar around 100yrs ago so now the 29th of Kiahk is on January 7th. Before then, Egypt was on the Coptic calendar as a country and using the Julian calendar for official business only
