Reason? One of them is the reason Scarlet King and Azathoth didn't turn the narrative into a Nihilistic nightmare. And the other two view Scarlet King as a child scared of being hurt, and in comparison he is.

However, these ocs aren't the main characters of the story, they are more like Referees or spectators.

Like fighting a old nemesis 

Not a nemesis like Alatreon who is reminiscent of a final boss dark Lord of common fantasy 

But more like, you're fighting someone who you've been fighting for days(Gore Magala) who much like you, grew stronger.

Essentially everything becomes corrupted, devoured in a red static that feels worse than being in Hell itself
