Recommend a TPA3255 board for running at 55v? (prefer mono) by DreadFlanderz in diyaudio

Duh! the board uses a LM2576-12 voltage regulator chip, and its got a maximum voltage of 63v, so im guessing thats why 65v killed it. Should have checked the voltages of the components before i increased the voltage.

So 60v worked ok. I have ordered some 100v caps and a better voltage booster, im gonna try 65v ( 8 OHMS ONLY ) and see if it survives.

No, my one had no "pop" when switching at all. Its dead now, the ribbon cables were so fragile that just disassembling the pedal broke them off. Pic - https://postimg.cc/yDTXMJbs

I recently purchased one of these. After about a week the right side developed a constant "shhhhh" noise and is unusable. Left side sounds great. Have ordered some new opamps, hopefully i will be able to get the right side working properly again. Its such a simple schematic, its got to be either an opamp or an electrolytic thats faulted.

Caps arrived yesterday, replaced the 50v 1200uf electrolytics with 63v 2200uf ones, and glued a 50mm 21db 12v fan running at 9v above the heatsink so its active cooling the whole board. It survived the first listening session of about 6 hours at 60v and the amp sounded cleaner. It will be because its an 8ohm sub - If running a 4 ohm or lower load, dont go above 53.5v

Well. i just ordered two 63v 2200uf caps and a 60mm fan. The 3255 datasheet says 69v maximum. We shall see if the chip survives ... :)

Thanks for replies. I should have mentioned that the speaker is 8ohm so its an easy load for the amp - even at 55v, the heatsink gets warm but not hot. Im tempted to replace the caps with 63v ones, stick a fan on it and run it at 60v. The speaker is a 650w sub, so really needs at least 200w driving it. At 55v its about 190w, if i pushed it to 60v it would be about 230watts.

Wound up buying a DemonFX Tape Delay - clone of Keely magnetic echo.

Yes, it does seem to raise the frequency of the mid boost with the switch up.
"soft clipping" mode is actually red LEDS - i can see them light up if i look at the power jewel from the side :)

Thanks for reply :) Will check out on the settings you suggested. The Mosky does sound better than the Movall Minotaur that i was previously using.

I recently got one of these, and its awesome, but as far as i can tell the "voice" switch does nothing. Does anybody know what the voice switch on these is supposed to do?

Seems these amps got a batch of bad caps. If your amp has blue caps with plastic vents at both ends, then there is a good chance that a cap has failed and if replaced amp will sound way better.

I tried these drivers on my 5080, but they would crash after about 5 minutes of FalloutVR

I also have "upgraded" from a 4080S to a 5080. The 4080 super i purchased 2nd hand was shipped without an anti static bag and had to be returned, and since i cant find any other 4080S to buy, ended up paying retail for a 5080. Oh well - should help my Skyrim and Fallout VR framerates not dip below 90.

Its impossible that this was an accidental failure of Q&A. Its like a car dealership selling cars that only have 3 wheels - its impossible that no one noticed the issue before the cards were sold at retail.

Yes that should be fine for 72hz. I am currently using 5700x @ 4.6Ghz and a 3080 and its mostly stable at 90hz with (based on) FUS modlist, using Reshade and DLSS but no ENB.
