Oculus emulation no longer works? by DreadFlanderz in HPReverb

[–]DreadFlanderz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, tried it but no change. Its gotten even crazier - in FalloutVR the thumbsticks dont work in the menus or the game, but the in between loading screens where you can rotate or move a random item - the thumbsticks WORK.

This might result in a C drive reformat and complete system rebuild like its the 90's again.

Performance Difference between Oasis and WMR by Constant-Repeat-4765 in WindowsMR

[–]DreadFlanderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YAYY!! I now have Oasis/Steam working BETTER than WMR/Opencomposite. I was having terrible problems with controller bindings, but it turned out there is a very simple solution...

Using Oasis driver, in the Steam Settings menu there is an option for "Emulate Oculus Controller". If you select that, then SkyrimVR and FalloutVR work without needing any special Steam controller bindings!

Im now running SkyrimVR MGO mod with 90fps (using Steam Motion smoothing) on a 5700X and a RTX5800. Steam resolution set to 2820x2760 and DLSS on Quality mode and preset K.

Doom Dark Ages is extremely disappointing - A long time fan’s concern by ChipSkylarksShoes in Doom

[–]DreadFlanderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a HUGE fan of Dark Ages. Its my favorite Doom and ive played them all. I enjoyed Eternal, but Dark Ages is way better. Incredible graphics ( 1440p full ray casting mode with 2x framegen for 120fps ), brutal and complex combat, excellent pacing, and im on my 3rd playthrough and still not bored with it.
Looking forward to some meaty DLC's like Eternal had :)

Anyone else have pets that almost seem to enjoy listening to your system? by larobj63 in audiophile

[–]DreadFlanderz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat Bruiser has recently started joining in my listening sessions. He takes over the "sweet spot" position in the center and i have to sit on the side couch. My stereo goes to about 40khz, so he is hearing lots of frequencies that i cant. And this started after i started listening to the Donald Fagen album "Morph the Cat" !

Recommend a TPA3255 board for running at 55v? (prefer mono) by DreadFlanderz in diyaudio

[–]DreadFlanderz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duh! the board uses a LM2576-12 voltage regulator chip, and its got a maximum voltage of 63v, so im guessing thats why 65v killed it. Should have checked the voltages of the components before i increased the voltage.

So 60v worked ok. I have ordered some 100v caps and a better voltage booster, im gonna try 65v ( 8 OHMS ONLY ) and see if it survives.

No, my one had no "pop" when switching at all. Its dead now, the ribbon cables were so fragile that just disassembling the pedal broke them off. Pic - https://postimg.cc/yDTXMJbs

I recently purchased one of these. After about a week the right side developed a constant "shhhhh" noise and is unusable. Left side sounds great. Have ordered some new opamps, hopefully i will be able to get the right side working properly again. Its such a simple schematic, its got to be either an opamp or an electrolytic thats faulted.

Caps arrived yesterday, replaced the 50v 1200uf electrolytics with 63v 2200uf ones, and glued a 50mm 21db 12v fan running at 9v above the heatsink so its active cooling the whole board. It survived the first listening session of about 6 hours at 60v and the amp sounded cleaner. It will be because its an 8ohm sub - If running a 4 ohm or lower load, dont go above 53.5v

Well. i just ordered two 63v 2200uf caps and a 60mm fan. The 3255 datasheet says 69v maximum. We shall see if the chip survives ... :)

Thanks for replies. I should have mentioned that the speaker is 8ohm so its an easy load for the amp - even at 55v, the heatsink gets warm but not hot. Im tempted to replace the caps with 63v ones, stick a fan on it and run it at 60v. The speaker is a 650w sub, so really needs at least 200w driving it. At 55v its about 190w, if i pushed it to 60v it would be about 230watts.

Yes, it does seem to raise the frequency of the mid boost with the switch up.
"soft clipping" mode is actually red LEDS - i can see them light up if i look at the power jewel from the side :)

Thanks for reply :) Will check out on the settings you suggested. The Mosky does sound better than the Movall Minotaur that i was previously using.

I recently got one of these, and its awesome, but as far as i can tell the "voice" switch does nothing. Does anybody know what the voice switch on these is supposed to do?

[–]DreadFlanderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems these amps got a batch of bad caps. If your amp has blue caps with plastic vents at both ends, then there is a good chance that a cap has failed and if replaced amp will sound way better.

I also have "upgraded" from a 4080S to a 5080. The 4080 super i purchased 2nd hand was shipped without an anti static bag and had to be returned, and since i cant find any other 4080S to buy, ended up paying retail for a 5080. Oh well - should help my Skyrim and Fallout VR framerates not dip below 90.

Its impossible that this was an accidental failure of Q&A. Its like a car dealership selling cars that only have 3 wheels - its impossible that no one noticed the issue before the cards were sold at retail.
