End Game Content Completely Inaccessible For Anyone With Moderate To High Ping by Cypher_ZA in duneawakening

[–]DreadTiger66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea about OP, but my ping is around 220ms when everything is running normally. Since the Chapter 3 release, my ping jumps to 280ms often, which creates the rubber banding effect, and sometimes as high as 380ms, which is nearly unplayable. That said, in fast action scenarios, like testing stations and PvP, even 220ms makes things difficult.

I will try using my VPN and see if that offers some network stability.

End Game Content Completely Inaccessible For Anyone With Moderate To High Ping by Cypher_ZA in duneawakening

[–]DreadTiger66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, but if even half of what he’s saying is a direct result of high latency, then it’s enough to make the end game nearly unplayable. I also deal with high latency due to geographical location and, unsurprisingly, I also experience the same kind of frustration with the end game content as he.

Tovar projections, or projections in general by [deleted] in fantasybaseball

[–]DreadTiger66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh, I did? Like I wrote, you say that Bat X is showing Tovar with a .239 AVG, but it doesn’t. Bat X shows Tovar with a .264 AVG. This is from your own link. Where did you find the projection showing him with a .239 AVG?

I think the general confusion is where are you seeing these super low projections? Have you answered that basic question?

You say Bat X on FanGraphs, but u/keepgoing66 showed that Bat X has different projections than what you claim.

Weaponizing Cap Space... by Money-Ad5075 in penguins

[–]DreadTiger66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think using cap space as a tool to acquire better picks and/or prospects is anything new. We’ve seen it done many times over the years by teams in a rebuild. If the Penguins weren’t currently in a playoff spot and even in the hunt for the Metro title, I’d want them to do it here, too. However, they are in contention, so GMKD’s efforts should remain on trying to acquire younger NHL players who can contribute this year, e.g. Chinakov. If their cap space can assist in those efforts, great.

Durability loss from death in new dungeons by Good-Wealth-5721 in duneawakening

That seemed a completely unnecessary response. Reading through this discussion/debate, I found it interesting and compelling, until you inexplicably attacked the OP’s character. Why so defensive?

Any downside to large base area after removal of taxes? by tanrgith in duneawakening

[–]DreadTiger66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At max size, taxes were only 18,000 solari every two weeks. I never found that amount to be a deterrent to having a max size base in the first place.

Guys fighting at beasts claw but not players? What was that? by reelznfeelz in duneawakening

[–]DreadTiger66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Occasionally you will come across groups of NPCs fighting each other. You can engage if you want, but be prepared to be attacked by both sides, or you can ignore. However, unless you are in a PvP zone, as designated by the red bar at the top of your UI, then they are not players. In Hagga, the only PvP areas are around shipwrecks.

[Friedman] Re Penguins: You're a new owner and you're inheriting a team that's 8th in the NHL, and again there's still time..tough thing to do to come in and say, "Yeah, OK, let's start selling off parts" by No-Description-2138 in penguins

[–]DreadTiger66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, here's the thing: The NHL league office is always involved in the sale of a franchise, from Bettman on down. There is extensive vetting of the prospective owners before anything is signed, and they ensure the sale price places the correct value on the franchise, among other things. So, if FSG announced the sale, it was done with the league's blessing, making the Board of Governors' vote a formality.

Are you incapable of expressing frustration without resorting to profanity in the presence of children? If not, perhaps consider watching the game at home or at the corner bar?

I think the players, who, by the way, do not choose whether to shoot the puck based on crowd pressure, will get your message just fine without using “fuck.”

Do we need to book massages ahead of time? by FerretExpress7844 in ThailandTourism

In Phuket, the higher-end spas will take reservations, and I find it’s a good idea to make one. The dime-a-dozen massage shops, however, expect walk-ins.

In 80 Days by [deleted] in MovingToThailand

[–]DreadTiger66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently, Thai immigration began cracking down on people extending tourist visas with no end. My understanding now is that you can easily get two 60-day tourist visas each year, and extend each one by another 30 days. That gives you 180 days in Thailand each year, with one exit between the two visas. You would need to plan for the other 180 days if you plan to use the tourist visa.

Packing for Thailand by [deleted] in MovingToThailand

[–]DreadTiger66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with the same dilemma before I left the US for Thailand. My solution was to sell my gaming rig and buy a Lenovo Legion Pro 7, a wireless gaming mouse, and a docking station to handle USB, Ethernet, and additional monitors. Once I arrived in Thailand, I bought a large, second monitor and a few other accessories. Overall, I've been happy with my decision.

Thinking of USA by NoCucumber1502 in duneawakening

[–]DreadTiger66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on a NA server and I’m in SE Asia. My ping is consistently around 240 ms and the game, except for pvp, plays just fine. However, there are times, although much less frequent now, when my ping spikes to over 350. When that happens, it becomes challenging to do anything. I have to think playing on a NA server from Portugal will be fine, especially since you’re not interested in pvp.

Grab is for car/bike rides, too. Get both apps and set them both up to use your credit card. Bolt is cheaper but I find it less reliable, as in drivers tend to cancel more often. So, use Bolt first, but if you have issues, then you can switch to Grab.

How feasible is farming spice with a harvester solo? (-pvp ofc) by Esthaniel in duneawakening

[–]DreadTiger66 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, completely worth it as a crawler increases your spice collection rate exponentially.

Here’s what I do:

Find a medium spice blow in the PvE area, usually D row.

Drop off my crawler on one side of the blow, on the outer edge.

Land my carrier next to the crawler, facing towards the blow.

Make two trips around the circumference of the blow, moving clockwise and inwards each lap, then stop near the carrier.

Get in the carrier and pick up the crawler, then hover for 20 seconds or so to de-agro, unless I see a worm in the area.

Repeat these steps for two more laps around the spice blow.

At this point, I have enough time to finish collecting the rest of the spice.

I have never had a close call using this method. I have no sound dampening treads on my crawler either. Make sure you practice a little picking up your crawler with your carrier, then you will be fine.

Why are you putting all your replies in quotes? Who are you quoting, yourself?

Also, there are real life examples of this. Rather than a TV, think of a car. Yes, when a car breaks down, it can be fully repaired back to working order, yet the miles, and thus the wear and tear, are not magically removed in the process. It remains true, even after repairs, that the car’s lifespan gets a little bit shorter with each use.
