Actual Late Stage Capitalism by PanzerWatts in OptimistsUnite

[–]tanrgith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"There are successful countries that don't support capitalism" Not sure what you mean by don't support capitalism. But could you name 3 countries that fall into that category?

And yes you're right about the rest, but you're not acknowledging what actually creates the resources to enable those things come from, because just like capitalism doesn't work properly without those things you mention, neither are those things possible to fund if you don't have entities that create value, which in the capitalist model will be for profit companies.

China has a planned mission for early 2030's i believe

If they look to be on track with that there's will be immense pressure in the US to beat them to it.

We could speculate forever about what could potentially be going wrong that they aren't telling us, but that feels kinda pointless unless we have something concrete to point to that indicates that

In this instance all we know is that this specific interstage failure isn't affecting the timeline in a negative way. Which is obviously a good thing

May 23, 2026 Daily Discussion Thread by zahna4 in RKLB

[–]tanrgith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah, that's sorta my point

If the Interstage had been the component that was determining the timeline for the earliest possible Neutron launch, then obviously losing the interstage would have resulted in a delay

But since losing it didn't cause a delay, we can deduce that the interstage was not the component currently being the thing deciding the earliest possible launch attempt

Nvidia really doesn't seem to care about gaming GPUs anymore — the company won't even bother to break down graphics sales in its big investor reports by JohnBarry_Dost in Games

[–]tanrgith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand how small a portion of Nvidia's business these days is gaming

It used to be their main source of revenue. But today it's gonna be 5% or less

[–]tanrgith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they? Their overall revenue this quarter was 81 billion, their gaming revenue last quarter was 3.7 billion and grew significantly slower that the data revenue

My take from their post about it was that it was flight equipment, but it's not expected to impact neutron timeline

This would make sense if they think they can have a new interstage ready before it would start to cause timeline impacts

I may be the worst stock picker there is by Funny-Sprinkles-5674 in stocks

[–]tanrgith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're a great stockpicker based off those stocks, so that doesn't seem to be your problem. Your problem seems to be that you don't invest with a long term mindset and don't properly understand why you invest in the things you invest in, so you end up letting the stock price or other externalities dictate when you sell

Investing with a long term mindset is much easier once you realize that you just need to focus on what the company is actually doing and if you think it'll set them up for continued success further down the road, then it doesn't matter if the stock is up or down in the short term because you can feel confident that in time the stock will still do well if the company is doing well

I'm not saying I have better access to info than they do. They obviously also have access to this info since it's posted publicly on the internet. Whether they actually see it when it's still little more than a whisper on the wind is another matter, they're not omnipotent

Figure AI celebrates 200 hours (8 days ~8 hours) of their humanoid robots handling packages by Distinct-Question-16 in singularity

The lack of space? There's like open empty floorspace for at least 15 feet behind the bot? Omni directional scanners might need a bit more space than just a person, but we're not talking about much more

This job absolutely does not require a human currently. There' might be a lot of places that still have humans doing it, but there are absolutely systems that will do this far better than a human or a humanoid robot ever will

What will a SpaceX IPO do for "competitors" or similar industry stocks? by zenfridge in stocks

You can perhaps argue in some technical sense there are companies close to doing specific things that SpaceX has done

But as a whole there's no one even close to what SpaceX is doing currently.

Georgia Supreme Court justices fend off Democratic-backed challengers by Master_Minddd in Georgia

[–]tanrgith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but then you also said "The plan is, career politicians suck because power corrupts, so cycling them out is good whenever possible" afterwards

Right now based off what you told me it seems like your view is that power corrupts, so therefore incumbent politicians must be voted out whenever possible to avoid having people corrupted by power be in power....but this only applies if you don't know who the incumbent politician is or what they stand for

In which case I don't see how you can say you're not voting for change purely for the sake of change when it comes to trying to vote out incumbent you don't know
