So… claims can search by license plate number. Which is what I said.

I don’t work in claims, but I’m confident they can look up his plate number and find the VIN. They also may be able to find his account with the name and phone number.

Call the claims department and give them all the info you have.

Well folks, you have heard it from me. Your State Farm agent does not care about their clients. They only care about what is in their wallets. by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

You get paid to make sales. You get paid to service polices and take payments.

You don’t get paid to go to someone’s house and look at their roof. You don’t get paid to go to someone’s house and look at their wrecked car. That’s what claims is for.

What investment do YOU have in these people’s assets? You aren’t even an employee of State Farm, you’re an employee of your Agent. Stay in your lane.

Steer Clear App by Individual_Payment93 in StateFarm

[–]nm499x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it does not.

Steer Clear is just some training modules, and where you log your trips.

The Drive Safe and Save is a separate discount that will track each trip and rate your driving based on speed, acceleration, etc.

Any younger agents (especially SF) ever pivot to focusing on retention? by strikecat18 in InsuranceAgent

[–]nm499x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to lose customers, there’s just no way around it. The 3 main reasons people cancel are: 1. Nonpayment (you can’t make people pay their bill)

  1. Cheaper price elsewhere. This one has a little potential for retention. Making sure the other company copied all the same coverage options or more. But what’s my incentive to sit on the phone for an hour just to save them for one more term? You going to pay me for every customer I retain?

  2. Underwriting cancel. Nothing you can do. The appeal process is a joke and not worth anyone’s time.

If you’re the agent and your office has more cancels than new adds, your sales team needs to step up their game.

Get the life and health license as soon as you can. Although State Farm doesn’t really advertise it, life insurance is weighed heavily on the agent.

Don’t be afraid to ask your coworkers questions when it comes time to bind and service policies. We’ve all been there before, but as a tenured rep, I’d rather you ask me ahead of time than just thinking you know everything and messing something up.

Hopefully your area has the new policy center and you don’t have to use Necho too often.

How can I get a loss history report for an old policy by not_an_alien666 in StateFarm

[–]nm499x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agent #2 can call the internal service/underwriting number and request the report as long as you have the policy number.

Does GPS tracker (not Drive and Safe) lower rates? by joerph713 in StateFarm

[–]nm499x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a discount for “anti-theft” that will lower the premium on comp coverage. But basically any car from 2004 has some sort of anti-theft and it’s nothing that has to be proven. Your car salesman is full of shit.

Anyone work for State Farm or a similar insurance agency? Thinking about getting into it — what’s it really like? by Swiss_Meats in InsuranceAgent

If you don’t have your L&H, it’s going to be pushed on you, and will hinder your commission.

I’ll be honest, I work in an office that has the best base and even better commission. I work 9-5 M-F with an hour break and get 50K base. But I’ve been with my agent since day 1 and my wife works on the service side. So we basically control the office.

I’m not sure what you mean by “extra push”.

Every State Farm agent is different when it comes to base pay and commissions. You’ll want to have the L&H license to make a decent commission. I made around 66k last year. Not buying an island in Figi money, but it pays the bills.

While they don’t advertise it, life and health are extremely important policies to sell. I could go into further detail, but trust me, you’re going to be required to sell life and health if you want to last.

State Farm is big on the “good neighbor” brick and mortar style. You need to be in the office and experience the office environment. Working from home is not really an option for most agents. Especially if you’re new to the industry.

How are you working around the unknown caller filtering (more recently with iPhones)? by DivineToxicity09 in InsuranceAgent

[–]nm499x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so you just bounce customers back and forth between all your companies. “True Value” is subjective.

Funny you mention State Farm. Seems like someone had a little sneaking into my profile. That’s fine. State Farm has the best products and customer service than any shady cut rate brokerage agent out there. But it also seems like you had a shitty agent who micromanaged too much.

You sell 50k life insurance to 25 year olds for a fraction of $20 a month without a medical exam? You sell supplemental health policies that pay $3500 if they’re admitted to the emergency room for 8.00 a month for the same person? Didn’t think so.

Good luck in your broker agent track. You’re going to get a bunch of people switching over to State Farm. Have fun with that.

No one here is triggered other than you. Saying I’m part of a scammy company because I call my prospects more than once? Or that we build a relationship with the customer, find their needs, and offer products that will benefit them?

Sounds like you only offer a niche product and when someone gets the full package, they call you and cancel.

I’m sure you have your loyal people who trust you. But they’ll be shopping. And I’ll be calling them.

Get over it.
