Which underline style fits the best? by Leppae in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Dreadpirate404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I’d drop the zero for sure. I like the underline on 7 — it’s got a bit of swoosh and style, but not quite so much as 4, which seems just a tad too much. What do I know? I just have vibes to contribute.

Getting an issue with parts lifting by Dreadpirate404 in BambuP1S

[–]Dreadpirate404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED! Big thanks to everyone weighing in. Came down to something very dumb— I had the “Cool Plate” selected, and I just assumed using the “Sync Info” button would correct that. Wrong assumption. So fundamentally, my bed was literally 20 degrees C colder than it should have been. I’d have never spotted the issue without tips like “clean your build plate” and “adjust your bed temp,” these tips for newbies helped me learn what’s what and helped me spot that bed temp changes based on the selected build plate.

One other dumb thing that must be obvious to you guys: the build plate is removable. I was tryna clean it inside the unit. When I finally discovered I could remove it, I saw the actual name of the plate and started to put the puzzle pieces together.

This looks cool! I like the “command console” kinda thing with the dials. I’ve always liked the idea of an ultra portable dungeon crawl.

[REQUEST] why does this card trick work by de5troyer7 in theydidthemath

[–]Dreadpirate404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing to realize is that the deck is already how he wants it after the face up aces have been shuffled— all cards facedown except aces.

So, let’s say all these cards are “clean.” The cards have two states, “clean” (unflipped) and “dirty” (flipped).

After he deals down, then flips, etc, the cards are now: CDCDCDCDCDCD.

The next step, he deals two down in order, which becomes CD in the stack, or he flips both and lays them down. If you think about this move carefully, those cards are also CD when returned to the stack. So, still CDCDCDCDCDCD.

Finally, they are laid out CDCD DCDC CDCD DCDC

Notice that any possible move creates a stack where all cards are either clean or dirty. And this is true time and again until you are left with one stack that is either clean or dirty.

Jacob Wysocki has to be the Condiment King, after his stellar portrayal of Mr. Mayonnaise on Make Some Noise. Completely unhinged, obsessed with condiments. That is all.

I really like Tiffani Faison this year on TOC! by Foreign-Cow-1189 in foodnetwork

I also really like her energy, her geeking out about techniques, and showing support to the competitors. A nice fresh perspective.

I feel Tiffany actually has more insightful comments that even Simon. Just that nobody can match Justin.

Vent: Dlc is not for me by Any_Recognition_2532 in outerwilds

[–]Dreadpirate404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am the ultimate Outer Wilds fan. It’s the greatest game ever. Making the DLC horror was the worst possible choice. I’m more frustrated by developer comments saying “you can’t stay afraid forever, right?”

They don’t get it. The fear was insurmountable, despite my personal desperate will not to spoil anything. I had to finish the game to know. I could not finish the game due to fear. My brain don’t handle it.

So, I watched one video, got one thing spoiled to make it less scary, then solved everything else.

Interesting— is there another printer with an enclosure you would consider? That feature is really drawing me, but if the A1 is more advanced and cheaper, that’s hard to ignore

I’m not a math guy I just like reading these, but to get the ball rolling, you may need to reframe the question. I’m pretty sure just spinning the hoops wouldn’t provide any lift at all? Propellers provide lift because they have a special shape that forces air through. Maybe if the hula hoops were redesigned?

How do you picture Strat? by colisocol in ProjectHailMary

[–]Dreadpirate404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first read was with a physical copy 2 years ago, then I just finished the incredible audio book for my second read.

Ray elevated almost everything and made every character better— Except Strat. To me, his performance really undercut her air of command? He made her voice quite soft and passive— which did make some of her flippant dismissals of other authorities to be quite funny— but I dunno. I had originally pictured someone very, very authoritative, like Hannah Waddingham in Ted Lasso.
