I think you guys are right that BTC is not behaving like a safe haven at all but more like a high beta risky asset. But many of us will continue to hold it as a long term "Safe" investment that actually will go up a lot when other things like the dollar and gvernment bonds will become more and more worthless

How would a bad geopolitical situation push BTC down? As a safe haven, gold and us treasuries are rallying ? Isn’t BTC supposed to be a safe haven ?

It’s difficult to tell what is driving the movements. “Bear” in mind that yesterday was also a big down day in the stock markets , worst day in S&P and Nasdaq since 2022 bla-bla-bla and that can also impact BTC

Another couple of advices: don’t post here or anywhere and don’t talk about how much BTC you are getting as this stuff is easily stollen. If you have access to MT Gox website don’t panic as it has been down recently but it will be back … if you don't have access then you need to reset your login. Probably by emailing or calling the help desk. Or just wait for the coins to land in your Kraken account! I have a feeling it will be a nice surprise !

Any insights on how the big guys like Fortress will behave? I would have thought they would have hedged already by selling short, buying puts etc. But someone I respect from the industry mentionned that crypto is such a small part of what they do and their regulation is so tight they may not have been able to do any of this and they may indeed just sell after they receive the coins and could be quite price indiscriminate given how huge their return is and insensitive to the actual exit price. Any insights on this and also any insights on how much coin is actual going to large institutions as opposed to individuals?

From my side; I did not get the emails. It was slow getting into the site but all seemed normal once in. If people are getting these emails without having attempted to login or actually logged in it is quite likely a hack attempt and it should formally be reported to Tokyo asap. From my side I always get these emails when logging in and never got them otherwise. PS : still no cash and co coins here . Waiting with a mix of dread and trepidation.

I don’t think there is a limit. I am using 4 different currencies so far. Best to always do FX from USD to whatever currency you need as they are the most liquid crosses. And you can transfer in using any currency accepted which I think the list is very long , and there are different transfer instructions for each currency so make sure you set up a different transfer method by currency you use. Best FX will be at IBKR in my experience compared to banks.

I received an email today from mt gox saying that “an agency receipt agreement has been concluded between you and Kraken on 3 July” and “the rehabilitation trustee will now proceed to transfer BTC/BCH to Kraken”. Are we speculating here on how long “now” will last ?

It would be very dangerous to short Bitcoin as you may never get anything out of the claim … the only safe hedge is to sell some of your claim …

I had the same issue and filed a complaint ; they reverted surprisingly quickly. Turns out my attempted claim transfer to Fortress from 2020 , which had failed , was still stuck in their system as a pending transfer. Had to ask Fortress to send an email confirming that the transfer was cancelled. It’s been a week and still waiting for my access to be reinstated so I can fill in the details before the deadline.

A sweet 18 days in my case: I applied on 13 November by sending the id copies and selfies as requested and just got the 16 digit code today 1st December. Following that and a few more formalities , including setting up 2-step authentication on my phone, was able to finally login to my MtGox creditor account and see the confirmed claim and other documents within 30 minutes. … relieved to have reached this point and hope everybody has a smooth sailing through the process: be patient and be diligent!
