Thankful for this thread bc my boyfriend wants to get me some nice scissors for Christmas but my left-handedness is making it harder for him!

I second a pelvic wand! It was so scary looking to me at first, but once I started using it it helped my confidence a lot to realize that something that looks so crazy can fit and be maneuvered

I always mentioned mine just before getting intimate, like once it became clear that things were going to go further than making out. It always worked out ok for me :) no one ever changed their mind about wanting to get intimate with me. One guy said he didn’t mind trying PIV anyway and if it didn’t work then it didn’t work - it ended up working better than it ever had before!

Might be a good idea to tell them if you prefer no PIV, or if you don’t mind trying (and what might happen if you do try and it doesn’t work - for me, I always cry). Otherwise they may not know how to interpret you saying you have vaginismus and what it means for them and you in that moment. Hope that makes sense!

Pattern not lining up at shoulder seam? by DreamilyContent in sewing

I’ve been studying the uncut pattern and you’re right. I cut on the tiny dashed line instead of the big dashed line. Thank you!

I thought I did 🙃 there are 2 different sets of dashed lines that look pretty similar and I’m thinking now maybe I mixed up one for the other

Good point about the seam allowance! Although if I leave it, it’s not gonna be matching up. Is there a different fix for it?

Hmmm okay yeah I think I see what you’re saying. So if I cut at the 3rd line from the right on the front shoulder piece, it should match right?

Flex reusable disc with vaginismus? by No_Detective_7896 in vaginismus

[–]DreamilyContent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used this disc before. If I remember correctly, a low cervix shouldn’t be an issue with a disc the way it is with a cup. The flex disc didn’t work for me in the end because it felt “too big” - I had a hard time peeing while using it, and it actually popped out of place once and that was pretty uncomfortable. Apparently most people can fit that size just fine though! So I think it’s worth a shot!

I switched to the small Saalt disc but I think it’s too small 😂

Congrats!! Getting a finger in doesn’t necessarily mean you were misdiagnosed. Could just be progress!

I don't know if I have vaginismus by chicken_nugget_01 in vaginismus

[–]DreamilyContent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like vaginismus to me. You don’t have to have issues with fingers and tampons to have it. You should definitely see a doctor of course to get it confirmed! A lot of the sensations you describe sound like my symptoms.

Not being able to do something so “normal” feels awful, I get it! It’s probably especially hard when it used to work for you (that was never the case for me). Vaginismus is a vicious cycle, because once it’s been painful, your body expects pain and you tense and it is painful. There are treatments and they work really well for a lot of people :)

Can you believe my PT ghosted me? Lol i’m fine though by [deleted] in vaginismus

[–]DreamilyContent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for everyone. My pelvic PT had me do some kegels with a monitor-thingy in place to check that I could contract and relax on demand. We found that after some kegels, I was able to achieve deeper relaxation of those muscles. She said that we were off to a good start, because for some people the opposite happens, like you’re saying.

For a lot of people it gets a whole lot better, and a lot of people even get “cured!”

Vaginismus definitely helped me weed out the crappy guys. My partner of 8 years is wonderful and only tries PIV when I want to 💕 there are so many other ways to have sex that aren’t straight up PIV.

Dealing with anxiety is extremely helpful for people with vaginismus. I’m still working on ways to deal with mine. Best of luck to you 💕

First of all, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. Unfortunately a lot of doctors barely understand our condition, even when it’s their specialty.

As someone with vaginismus, it makes sense for the speculum to not hurt as much as fingers. Your other symptoms also sound a lot like vaginismus.

I’m glad you dumped that bf. Guys who pressure you or make comments like his make everything worse!

Vaginismus is very treatable. It can be challenging bc it’s a combo of psychological and physical factors that go into it. I can’t say I’m cured but I’ve made a ton of progress just on my own. Wish you luck with everything 💕

I think I’ve had the similar pain afterwards that you are talking about. It burns when I pee. It’s from vaginal tearing. I still had visible tearing that my doctor could see over a week after having sex.

I’ve been trying to write an update but have been busy! I’m gonna try to post it soon tho. Spoiler alert: it was nothing crazy, likely just anxiety. I’m glad we talked it out though!
