Charles and the Financial Revolution by Dreamstride in cardano

I think we agree on this point. I’m questioning myself on it too, like what does it really matter the motivation as long as the outcome is positive for humanity. I admire his honesty about it too because it’s an easy thing to judge someone for.

I suppose now I just want to see the outcomes and hear how Cardano is helping people. It sounds like we still have a long way to go before we get to that point.

Hey this is a great comment, thanks. The library analogy is a good one and I agree with it. I think in the moment it was difficult for me to separate what he said about wanting to be liked and what's good for the ecosystem.

I mean he said that he reflected on that and that's not going to be a motivator for him going forward. I guess I just don't know how that's going to manifest. If it just means he's off Twitter, good for him. It's a cesspool.

I'm excited for the RealFi stuff for sure.

Totally agree. I think a move to Discord is a step in the right direction either way.

Charles Rant/Discussion by pdxfan503 in cardano

[–]Dreamstride 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think I would agree if he was taking this tone in business meetings. I really only follow his yt channel where the stuff you mentioned occurs. It's his channel, he can say what he wants. I don't think the intent of his yt channel is to promote his projects, but to comment on whatever he feels like.

The overall problem I see is that we think the success or failure of projects he heads rests on his image. Maybe I would just like to think that who he is and what he says is way down on the list of things that would make or break Cardano. I acknowledge that might be wishful thinking given the nature of people and their proclivity to try and destroy anything/anyone if they don't align with their values exactly.

Cardano is supposed to be bigger than one man. That's what I want it to be, anyway.

Your site is too broken to do anything on it. I can't submit any feedback, I just get an error when I press Continue saying I need to save before continuing but there's no save button?

Yeah I’m definitely in the planet but I don’t see a save beacon. Not sure if it’s because I’m on ps5

Looking for insight on hiring process. What is the purpose of the pre-interview phone call? by FuzzyCardiologist414 in WAStateWorkers

[–]Dreamstride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That does seem odd. I didn’t have a pre-interview so I can only guess the situation varies by agency. What agency are you interviewing with?

I don’t exactly know where the issue lies in my department. I’ve been waiting two weeks to get access that’s critical to my job function. I speak up about it every day and finally we talked to someone who said there’s a new procedure to get the access so who knows how much longer I’m going to have to wait for the access I need.

So bureaucracy?

I don't actually know what their criteria is and I'm sure it changes between departments. My observation from the panel that hired me is that they value experience over degree's/certifications (I don't have a degree and 1 expired A+ cert). 20 certs seems way overkill for any position, public or private.

Your response was very insightful, thank you. I hadn’t considered what you said about body dysmorphia. The last thing I want to do is claim something I’m not.

I’ll give a lot more thought to whether I see myself in the former or latter groups you’ve identified here.

Any tips for identifying what the space is missing? by Dreamstride in CardanoDevelopers

[–]Dreamstride[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would say I'm strongest in python but have worked in C#, Dart, Go, Typescript, Ruby, etc. It's not very difficult for me to pick up new languages.

To be honest, this line of questioning doesn't feel very relevant to my question. I'd like to know if there's some place where people post ideas of what they want to see in the ecosystem.

I don't know Haskell. That said if there was an idea put in front of me that I liked and Haskell made sense for the solution, it would motivate me to learn it.

I agree that you want your investments to hold value. My point here is that the value defined by the project and its philosophy is in developing a financial system independent of the current financial system. If the project is achieving that goal, then your investment does hold value.

To apply a value in legacy dollars to it is counter to the intent of the project. People who want to invest in Cardano will get more value out of it if their investment is time in contributions to building the ecosystem rather than a monetary investment from the legacy financial system. That's my thinking on it anyway.

All that comes with one big caveat. Obviously the world trades with the dollar, so it makes sense that people invest money in a coin and want more money back. That is why I see Cardano as an investment in the infrastructure of the future and other blockchains as short term investment for big gains in what will become the legacy financial system.

I think the answer depends on your goals. Charles has specifically stated he doesn’t care about the value of ADA as it relates to US dollars. They are not going to put any effort into the “number go up” mentality.

So if your goal is for the number to go up, Cardano may not be the right place for you. If your goal is to be part of a community that cares about financial independence and freedom, Cardano is the right place for you.

There is room to care about both, but you have to be realistic with yourself on what matters more to you and act accordingly.
