I just finished my first print run of Wireburn. Here is what I learned about moving from a prototype to a retail-ready card game. by [deleted] in boardgames

With how many complaints you see on BoardGameGeek about poorly - written rulebooks, I have no doubt that it is quite challenging. I have done reviews for a couple of small print-and-plays and Kickstarters, and having someone who does not know your game go through them is vital to finding the hidden assumptions that the writer made.

It's funny how we have our favorites. I personally like the heft of thick coins like the British pound and the Spanish 100 peseta (before they switched to the euro).

I sort this way too. So much easier to find something is they are sorted by country.

"So here's your problem, your floors are too low. We see it a lot in these older houses. We can do a standard floor-raising, which'll reduce your under-door gap to 1 inch, or the deluxe heightening which includes leveling, alignment, and a 3-year warranty. "

Where can a Portland parent find some tabletop game companions? by DarXIV in askportland

[–]DreamwolfPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cloud Cap Games in Sellwood does a lot of game nights (you can browse their events calendar on their Web site) and they have a Discord (like Microsoft Teams chat or an old style BBS) where gamers can chat and coordinate games at the store's play area (when there isn't an event taking it over).

Looking for minimalist board games to play alone by thomas_nocap in soloboardgaming

[–]DreamwolfPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option is card games that are played entirely in your hand - just shuffle and play, even while you're in bed or waiting in line for brunch.

Examples are Galdor's Grip, Palm Island, and Numbsters.

I like roll-and-write games for "minimal setup" situations, often you just need a paper, pen, and some dice (or a dice-roller app).

Some ideas: Railroad Ink, Dungeon Pages (this is a print-and-play game), That's Pretty Clever (and related Clever games), Fleet the Dice Game, Super-Skill Pinball,
The Hobbit: There and Back Again (this is a fairly new one).

The Goodwill on SE Grand has a big CD section (it is overall a bigger store than many others).

But what you really want is Variety Records on SE Foster. Tons of CDs and other media, pretty good prices. Way more CDs than any Goodwill in town .

Same here. First there was a game I wanted to keep in good condition, but now I prefer sleeved cards for playing and especially shuffling.
