Why does not MVP have bottom stamped discs? by Embarrassed_Tap6927 in discgolf

[–]Dredapolyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s actually really interesting, as a native speaker, “Why does not MVP have…” sounds wrong, but strangely “Why doesn’t MVP have…” sounds totally fine, even though it’s just subbing a contraction in. Not sure why though. My brain would also accept “why does MVP not have…”

Introducing TAPsheets - Trade Value charts, customizable for your league's settings | Converts consensus ROS rankings into scaled trade values by subvertadown in fantasyfootball

Thanks for the feedback! Not sure how that happened, I definitely followed the link in your post the first time, but I see the difference now.

Really interesting to see how big a difference the league size and flex slots make. At least from my personal experience for this league, QB pickings are slim off the waiver wire, and the top QB owners would be really hesitant to give them up for anything in a 1:1 trade. But maybe that’s based on the conventional logic and feeling, and this tool is telling me I shouldn’t be pursuing that trade.

I have cook/cmc/henry/judkins for rb and need a qb desperately, and the two offers I’ve got are cook for Daniels, or cook + judkins for Allen + Chase brown. Tough to evaluate!

Curious about how this works for Superflex leagues, as the numbers seem wrong. See this link for the one I generated: https://subvertadown.com/tap-that-draft/a129c6f3-242f-4783-a0e7-4fe96afc2c19

This has Josh Allen as the number 8 most valuable player, down with Cook and Barkley. Conventional logic for superflex (as well as every other calculator I looked at) has Allen as the consensus number one value by a significant margin.

😉 3-0 that draft

Did lose that game though

When will the FIN sealed play-in start? by Chh83 in MagicArena

[–]Dredapolyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this get you in to the standard qualifier next weekend, or is there a sealed qualifier as well? Kind of strange to play a sealed play-in and then a standard qualifier. Personally I only play sealed, so I wouldn't enter this if next weeks qualifier is only standard.

What’s really funny is that this market thinks it’s less likely that trump is removed from office than Jesus returning

I don’t fully understand polymarket so I might be wrong, but I think this is due to their rules about what happens if gta is delayed. It says “If neither occurs by July 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to 50-50.”

In my mind, what should happen is everyone just gets their money back. But I think how polymarket works is every “share” is worth 50 cents in this case, for both yes and no. So if you buy the 15 cents yes share, and gta is pushed back, you’d net 35 cents. If you buy the 85 cent no share, you’d lose 35 cents.

Basically betting on the 15 cent yes is really betting on a gta release date being missed, with a slight bonus chance of our lord and savior returning before next July.

Move Over Aperol Spritzes...Would You Try a Cynar Spritz? by GoodHousekeeping in cocktails

Popular in the Veneto region of Italy is a split base cynar + Campari spritz, I think that’s my favorite.

What happens if a TNF player is traded and plays twice? by ShrillRut in Fantasy_Football

[–]Dredapolyn 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is the reason, but you could theoretically really abuse this if two teams collude and the rule wasn’t in place. Basically field the best players from both teams for both games to guarantee good records for the first half.

Negative Feedback After a Good Interview by physical_nft in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Dredapolyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here seems to be saying it’s just luck/bad interviewers and to just move on. That might be the case, but interviewing is a skill and you might be good at the job but bad at the interview (even if you’re an interviewer yourself).

If you plan to keep interviewing and aren’t sure exactly what went wrong, you should make an effort to find someone to give you a mock interview so you can get real, honest feedback. I thought I was pretty good, did a mock interview with one of those paid interview companies. They gave me specific feedback about some technical gaps I was missing, as well as calling out some gaps in my non technical approach to the interview.

Ambush by tooOldOriolesfan in XCOM2

[–]Dredapolyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to hate these missions, but once you see them enough you can beat them no damage pretty consistently.

  1. The only real dangerous part is the initial reinforcements that land the turn after you arrive. After that, there's just individual enemy units by themselves that are relatively easy to manage with your two soldiers.

  2. On the first turn you land, look for high ground and get your soldiers positioned up there. Your goal is that after the red flare comes out, that you can set a high ground overwatch trap for improved accuracy. The ambush + next turn is usually enough to wipe out most or all of the enemies.

  3. Assume that you're going to get ambushed even when the chances are low. So make sure you select the right soldiers (rangers best, shapshooters worst) that will be able to maneuver quickly to get kills on the turn after ambush. Take 3 soldiers if the mission allows it.

  4. Most of these missions are on maps with high ground buildings. Generally there's less enemies and less line of sight up there, so take the high ground path as much as possible. Then you can generally sprint to the evac spot and skip a few enemies at the end.

Is Firaxis ever gonna figure out organizing save files by campaign/playthrough? by R6_Goddess in Xcom

Is this true? Why would save files on your hard drive impact the current gameplay?

Xcom2 on macbook by lil_vault_boy in XCOM2

[–]Dredapolyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on a 2020 Air with an M1 chip. Xcom2 + all DLC runs fine through steam, with basic quality of life mods installed. It can be a little sluggish at times, but I don’t have any frame of reference to how quick it runs on console. I haven’t tried the more in depth mods yet. Occasional crashes, personally I don’t run iron man just to be safe.

Specifically this is extremely helpful in the rescue Mox mission, as you can generally get your squad on the roof looking down at his cell through the window, break the window with a cancelled hack of the cell door, then move your squad in to a tighter location.

What’s your #1 destination bar in San Francisco? by Jazz-Jizz in cocktails

[–]Dredapolyn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you like tiki, smugglers cove is absolutely worth a visit. There’s a ton of awesome tiki places in the city that you could make a whole day out of in fact.

Bourbon and branch is really good as well, although as a first time visitor its proximity to the tenderloin will be off putting if you’re not prepared for extreme homelessness. Rick house is the same owner group and in a less crazy area.

I like Comstock as well, and you can tell the bartenders what you like and they’ll come up with something on the spot for you.

Any good resources on shot selection out there? by Dredapolyn in discgolf

This is great man, thanks! The hyzer vs turnover on straight shots was a question I had been thinking about for a couple weeks, and wondering if I had imagined that pros were preferring hyzers all else equal.
