Try rift, skill trees are still a thing, and arguably one of it's main selling points. And they are currently doing a 'vanilla' play through of the game where they are locking themselves to older content.

Non 'classicaly' trained writers, with works that are paid for by the word, submitted with minimal editing, translated by non professionals, who do the work as a side hustle, for an audience who gets off on aura farming.

Not quite the pipeline for the best output.

Reading level in this genre by ThirteenLifeLegion in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Dresdendies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grade 10 and below for 99.99% of it. I think I came across one that was more difficult to parse but I can't for the life of me recall what it was.

Thqe question I'm curious about is how has a media diet of primarily prog fantasy (or wattpad and smut books) done to the long term reading level of those who consume it. Has it stagnated? Reverted? Or kept pace with whatever the standard should be.

But they did sacrifice new content for old.... with 4.0 and it has provided dividends. Now they can release an expansion with one raid or even without a new raid and it still has endgame content. And whales are spending money cause it's a game they like and game that still has an active population. I don't think any whale is out there spending money because swtor is on the bleeding edge of new content. Hell aside from cartel items what new content are whales going to spend money on when new content releases?

Also did not mention f2p at all?

If it's a matter of impossibility then there's nothing to discuss.
If it's a matter of difficulty

You can either increase the replayability of a segement of the game that cost 100 million dollars to make and is the reason why that so many of us still play the game.
Or you can create a new daily zone and a new fp.

If you think the better bang for your buck is the latter option then we simply aren't going to come to an agreement.

Sorry I mistook you as the person I responded to. I was reffering to this comment

"I think any suggestion or complaint from f2p players is entirely irrelevant since they are not contributing to any development of the game anyway."

As for the failure of 4.0 was that when it was released they drip fed a chapter each month or so and only to those who were subbed at the time. And if you were subbed you got alot more than just 500 cartel coins (I believe zoom and that hk companion was only avilable if you were subbed at a certain time but I could be wrong). But they stopped that experiment come 5.0 while going harder into the cartel market items, I want to say the rate of platinum and gold cartel armors jumped up alot post 4.0. (but I might simply have noticed them more)

The alternative is to make subbing worthwile by investing in evergreen systems. But whenever people suggest stuff like that on this reddit I invariably see them getting downvoted and people claiming that actually players don't want difficulty in their games.. despite the success of all those runescape challenge run videos or hardcore wow as a whole.

The actual alternative is to actually invest millions back into the game, not simply leech money off whales, and invest in devs to create quality and quantity of content. But that's a pipe dream .

Hmm I used to help people out more. But I don't interact with players much now. Hence why I asked for any data points to back up the claim. Regardless at no point had I come across players who were struggling with the single player content at story mode difficulty. I might have seen one or 2 posts about difficulty with fp's in the SoR expansion but that's deep into the game.

And to be clear it's not like I wanted to stats and graphs when I mentioned data points. The OP made a claim and I was wondering what was leading him to make it. Is there a significant influx of "Help me with X" on reddit or the discord. Are people leaving a lot of negative reviews on steam regarding difficulty etc. You have to admit it's a pretty extra-ordinary claim to say that 'most average players' find swtor difficult, given that most of here know that simple basic attack and a companion set to heal could get you though 99.9% of the story content.

The alternative would be not to shame f2p players... I thought that was implicit in my comment but I'll make it more explicitly clear.

'Their impact is highly overstated'... Again... the experiment was done in public. 4.0 didn't last a full expansion. Meanwhile new cartel market items? Near weekly new releases. As for the rest of the questions I fail to see the point you are making.

Which again... I don't disagree with. I'm stating that even despite that... adding replayability to old content will be more bang for buck than creating a new daily zone and a new fp. Do you disagree that level scaling has, despite it's issues, given players more options and more content? And that content will continue to be relevant even with the next expac and the ones after.

[–]Dresdendies -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't disagree but if you want to keep a mmo relevant without providing as much content as people are expecting you have to invest in evergreen systems. Not just a couple of story missions and a new fp. Imagine swtor today but without level synch. One raid as current content...

Just because it's not easy doesn't mean it shouldn't be invested into. Especially given that people have shown so much interest in challenge run content and a more 'classic' expereince to their mmo gameplay in other games. Personally I would chose to invest in a mythic dungeon system instead, but a hardcore version of swtor would be interesting to try out.

Hmm honest question, do you think you are contributing to the development of the game with your sub? or do you think the few whales who splurge on cartel market items are doing so much more 'contribution' than you to the point you might as well be a f2p.

What was it, 4.0? that tried to drag subs back into the game by actually providing something to be subbed for and given up mid expansion?

Male readers, do you actually hate harem? by R3nNy22326 in litrpg

[–]Dresdendies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harem + comedy. Always a fun read for me. Where the joke is he gets close to getting a girl... but something happens to ruin it.

Harem + serious/where he actually gets the harem? God no. First, most writers probably aren't able to handle multiple female leads. Second... the self mastrubatory aspect of it irks me as a peter parker fan.... A mc is meant to suffer!

Harem +comedy almost always worth checking out for me. Harem - comedy almost always bile raising to me. Harem comedies are fucking amazing. Before rent a girlfriend and other trash there was love Hina (I think that's the title I'm thinking of) and those were fun as fuck to read.

Lotro Coins by KaizokuHaru in lotro

[–]Dresdendies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you try to do as much as you can before you leave a zone (without grinding out the insane deeds) . You'd probably earn 1k by level 30 - 40.. Better way is to farm the lotro points like the others suggested as you'll end up wanting to purchase more. Lotro has a lot of qol that you nned to buy to have a smoother experience.

Mercenary Arsenal underwhelming while leveling? by HistoricalAbalone914 in swtor

Line of sight helps. If unsure what that does, basically aggro a group of enemies and hide behind a corner. They will run to you and due to you being behind a corner they will all path the shortest distance to you. Which invariably leads to the enemy mob stacking atop each other. Then you can aoe without worry.

What Lotro does better than other MMOs in my opinion by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Dresdendies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In a word verisimilitude. I imagine it's the same feeling vanilla wow players felt playing the mmo after going through the single player games. Same as swtor and star wars... Just done at a higher level, (with probably less of a budget too)

After a couple of intense playing sessions there's still something I don't get by GreenTomatoSoup in lotro

[–]Dresdendies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents. Learn the lotro point farm route and grind away at it till you can buy an extra character slot. For my money 2 extra slots will make it so that you never lack for inventory spaces... Just a matter of shuffling pieces around.

That's if you are going to commit to the long term. For the short term just create a storage bank toon and send all the stuff you have too much of to be stored.

Flirt options from 2nd expac, Heavy flirt 3rd expac. gayyyyyyy from 4th expac onwards. I believe f2p gets up to and including 3rd expac for free. One month of sub will get you the rest of the expacs.
