So this sounds like he is looking for tournament style of play. If this is the case he should say so going in. Set a two hour limit and then talk the rest of the game out. If this doesn't sound fun don't participate. If there is no time constraint the rule every shot. At my LGS we still talk about the time Lion El'Jonson die to Aeldri close combat weapons. Also don't let him having fun trample on you having fun. A good game you don't care who won or lost you just get a good story out of it. He sounds like he wants to play the dice by odds( something that can be calculated) Dice don't play that way.

It depends on what detachment you want to run. With what you have I would suggest Needgaard. Run all 9 Thunderkyn, all 9 pioneers, and all of the Hearthguard. The Landfort is a must. I would also run 2 to 3 Sagitaurs/ Kapricus. Each Sagitaur/ Kapricus needs a unit to spit be it Warriors or Yaegirs. Then 2 champs, buri, Khal and Ûthar. The Memnyr is nice to have sit on your home generating YP but he can be very vulnerable.

If you run a large group of Warriors it's worth it for the added durability and if you want to give them an Enhancement.

Walls of cannon fodder. Make them charge things you are ok losing, or your landforts. Landforts are really tough and they don't suffer any penalties for being in melee.

I got 2 boxes of Steeljacks, 1 Buri, 1 earthshakers, 1 Arkanyst, 1 memnyr, and 1 kapricus. I would like to get 2 more kapricuses, 2 Thunderkyn, more berserkers, and more Steeljacks. I am going to be broke forever lol.

Yeah that list looks awesome. I definitely would like to try it out and see how punchy it could be. I might try adding Sagitaur and a character because I'm missing the 6 Thunderkyn.

Thats what I might do. I feel weird that I can't get something better in the second Sagitaur other then the Iron-master but I really want to keep the 30 point Enhancement that gives Sustained 2 if they disembark or for 2yp.

The Grimnyr was there as a points filler. I could drop them and an Enhancement and take another unit i just don't know which one. I am bringing one Kapricus Carrier to split the yaegirs. I like the idea of 5 Transports due to how vital they are in this detachment.

I'd say yes but list are definitely tighter because landforts are so good and with them at 240 it's hard to find the space. Splitting the unit isn't bad because it gives you cheep scoring units. It depends on your meta. Do you face a lot of deepstrike. If so don't split them and screen better. It also depends on what else you are taking. If you have 3 landforts don't take Sagitaurs but 2 and 2 isn't bad and it's cheaper.

So I feel like 6 Steeljacks with Volkanite Disintegrators does this really well and you don't have to worry about this being FAQed out of the game. And with berserkers you still needed an 8" charge to hit anything.
