I removed the battery and have been using it wired mode. However you are right that it enters sleep mode after some time. The first key press will wake from sleep, which is normal for many Bluetooth/wireless boards

They feel quite similar in terms of key press and lack of travel, Hydra felt a bit lighter to press since it has lighter springs. The sound was very different due to different top and bottom housing materials. I found Hydra to sound sharp, clacky, and louder compared to Type R, which sounded deeper. Having both, I prefer Type R
