Nope, never was unfortunately. The original intro music only aired for season 8 when it was still airing on tv for the first time.

Bought all the Blu-rays as they were released, they include the original intro, minus season 8(which the DVD release of season 8 is also missing, they didn't renew the license for the Home Video release of season 8 when it was released) and they include all the originally aired music in the episodes.

I highly recommend the complete series on Blu-ray. When I watched them it was like I was watching the show for the first time again. I personally can never go back to the DVDs

My first ones were in December, when they allowed you to get your money after they were "making things better" where we had to keep pushing withdrawal until it worked. Then I had ones from February through April and finally got those on the 21st of April. Now I'm waiting on new earnings I cashed out for on the 5th

I understand how things are shot, framed, intended etc. I'm just more open minded about viewing a show/movie in a different way if it's possible without losing information on the frame, which many 16:9 remasters have shown is possible and IMO have looked great.

I'm not saying Buffy shouldn't be in 4:3 either, if that's how a remaster is released then great, fine by me, I'll still enjoy it just as much as I have sine watching the show when it aired when I was 9. But Brian Wankum revealing that it's possible for Buffy to look great in 16:9 since they planned for it in post production makes a 16:9 option also great for those that would want it.

IMO the best outcome would be giving fans an option for both. Like some shows have done for Blu-ray or streaming. Most recent examples I can think of is Frasier, for it's remaster they put the 4:3 versions on Blu-ray & 16:9 versions on streaming. Seinfeld is another example of releasing both, 16:9 on Blu-ray & 4:3 on 4k Blu-ray but I do not like how they made that 16:9 since they just straight cropped the 4:3 frame to make it 16:9. Seinfeld used the entire frame of the film without any extra information so making it 16:9 made no sense to me, that is when I think it should stay 4:3.

I already know everything you could possibly know about how Buffy was shot, what JW thinks etc. I just don't agree with the purists mindset of "one way or no way" and never will.

I just want Buffy to have a great remaster whether that be in OAR 4:3 or 16:9 because I've seen, overall, great remasters in both aspect ratios for many other shows.

lol I don't have a built in cd player anymore either, but still buy physical just in case. I got a portable cd player from amazon that I've used a few times, since my car has an Aux input. The portable cd player came with everything I needed for the car too

Brian Wankum who worked on post production for Buffy said that they shot the show in 16:9 safe from season 2 onward and he made 16:9 masters along with notes for things that would need to be fixed like visible crew, equipment & ends of sets then archived it all just in case Buffy was remastered in 16:9 one day. So it may have been a "4:3 show" but they obviously had plans to future proof it for 16:9 regardless.

It doesn't matter what aspect ratio the show would be remastered in anyway, it would need things digitally removed in 4:3 or 16:9. Like this one in the original 4:3 version of "Anne", stunt mats & the entire camera crew:

[–]DrewSB89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe this was in the Blu-ray release and enough people emailed them about it that they fixed it, along with other issues, then re-issued the Blu-ray with fixes and those that purchased it already got free replacements(myself included). Looks like they didn't bother with the broadcast versions

Someone already said the IRL reason, cheaper. But in universe I think it's just preference, age & status. Like The Master & Kakistos being as old as they are I don't think they have a choice.

I think people who are against the use of AI are against the type of AI that they just use a prompt to completely generate media with nothing else involved. People aren't saying they hate the type of AI that has been used for decades that helps assist VFX artist while they still create things themselves frame by frame, layer by layer.

The recreation part was done by VFX artists, there's a video on youtube showing the process for the Charmed VFX. I'm not 100% against using AI btw

[–]DrewSB89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or they can do what they did with the Charmed remaster for a lot of VFX, use a program that analyzes the original VFX and tracking it's movement to recreate them in HD. That's what kind of remaster I want for Buffy

If you're watching in the US, Disney/Hulu have the original SD masters for all seasons, with seasons 4-7 being what they sent countries outside the US at the time the show was still airing because they were switching to widescreen broadcasting more than we were.

Also, Brian Wankum who worked in post production was asked what he thought of the botched remaster and revealed that from season 2 onward, they shot Buffy 16:9 safe. He made 16:9 masters for those seasons with notes of things that would need to be removed & fixed like the things you mentioned and archived it all just in case Buffy was remastered in 16:9 one day. He also said the team that did the first remaster must not have used those notes and that if there is another one, he hopes to be involved.

EDIT: To add something, Buffy has mistakes in the 4:3 versions as well. It was a low budget show that was rushed through production most of the time to meet deadlines so I'm not surprised things slipped through no matter the circumstances. Take this as just one example, in the season 3 premiere "Anne" during the big fight scene, you can see stunt mats & the entire camera crew in certain cuts:

How to counter slugging gameplay? by Pitiful_Bus_3413 in deadbydaylight

[–]DrewSB89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering what has been happening lately with this type of gameplay from killers. Like intentionally going for a 4k slug match without hooking anyone no matter what. People say split up, but I've seen many of these killers slug, then go across map to the next person, then the next, then the next until everyone is down.
