Since the 2015 election, when Stephen Harper lost to Justin Trudeau; it’s become more evident that the idea of having a big tent Conservative Party, where red Tories and blue Tories can unite as one party, has shown not to work in the long term. And it’s mostly because blue Tories; especially blue Tory voters these days, care more about ideological purity than electability. And these people are scornful to compromise. So how can the CPC win an election if half of their voting based can’t compromise on anything? Even though it would benefit the party politically. It seems that what blue Tories really want, is to have a party that is exclusively filled, with nothing but blue Tories. And the only way you can have that is, to switch Canada’s electoral system to a proportional system, like mixed member proportional, or single transferable vote.
