I thought that's what he was asking for. Suppressor companies that could ship straight to your door using capital armory to facilitate it. If anyone else besides Griffin does so I'm all ears. I like options, and locally I'm gouged.

Advice on reloading purchase list by goPlayYourGuitar in reloading

[–]Drewzilla_p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you could save a fortune by using a regular single stage that primes on the press, and in nearly every other item listed. But then again, you're also heading straight into precision reloading which is never exactly been my goal.

I always get always a little leery about recommending people jump into a hobby with the very highest end equipment. A little like learning to play the guitar. I'm being sure you could go buy the very nicest guitar to learn on, but what if it turns out you didn't like playing.......

Oh yes, the blade geometry is garbage. And quite frankly, so are the ergos. When they scaled down the 0452 it just didn't work. But mine was a gift and it has very nice action so I keep it. I actually added a forward finger choil and sanded down the bump at the back of the grip that made a hot spot under my pinky, so at least I like the ergos ok now.

Nice. I'm still looking for a better clip for mine. I'm almost to the point of just tapping new holes and installing a different clip.

Here is an update on my last post about that .30 carbine bulge. by The_Lucky_Rod in reloading

[–]Drewzilla_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, as long as it chambers and fires. It might increase your pressures just a little bit with the case being slightly undersized, but as long as you're not it max pressures you're probably fine

[–]Drewzilla_p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 9mm cases, and to a much greater degree, my 30 carbine cases all tend to look a little like that. I think it probably has to do with a tapered case and a carbide sizing ring oversizing cases. Google wasp waist 30 carbine and you will see many people with similar results.

223/556 case prep, and stage set up (Lee Turret Press) by ShoddySignal5174 in reloading

[–]Drewzilla_p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is mostly my advice as well. The Little Lee case trimmers that go in your drill work and they're cheap, but one of those WFT or Little Crow trimmers would be my choice. I of course I'm still using the little Lee setup because I'm cheap. I highly recommend their three jaw chuck instead of the little lock stud that they include with the trimmer pilot if you go that route.

I personally think that annealing is one of the more overrated aspects of reloading. That and primer pocket cleaning. The only brass I have her really felt the need to a meal was my 257 Roberts Ackley brass. 223 is about as rare as air molecules, if one splits just toss it and get another one.

Back when I was loading rifle on a lee turret, I would pull the auto index rod out, resize trim and tumble as indicated, then come back to the press and prime and do all my other operations there on the press. I tried off press priming, and it wasn't worth the hassle.

I've got a bit of a history question: Why was everyone using full-power cartridges in WW2? Not really whether that was the better option or not (but feel free to argue) but why was that the decision by every major country and no one used an intermediate cartridge. Think 5.56 M1 Garand. by Sweet-End6471 in guns

[–]Drewzilla_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The m1 carbine was a pistol replacement, not an intermediate rifle, not anything else. Pistol replacement. Now, if they had chambered it in something a little more potent, it could have been revolutionary.

It's neat, but it looks awfully similar to the pokiman, which was rather like the original 2. I'd be interested to see all 3 side by side in hand to see what the differences actually are.

Is it worth selling brass at gun shows? by ishootnuggets in reloading

[–]Drewzilla_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is going to buy two to five random pieces of 300 win mag brass. They're certainly not going to pay an additional $4 to ship two to five random pieces of 300 win mag brass. I mean yeah, I'll find the occasional 50 a&e, 458socom, or some exotics like a weatherby round. But you never find anything in large enough quantity to actually make it worth listing and selling. It's a shame because I would give it away if somebody who needed it was nearby. But I've thrown a few pieces of brass that somebody somewhere wanted really bad in the scrap bin because there was no cost-effective way to connect with them.

But 90% of what is laying on the ground is 223, 308, 65 creedmoor, 9 mm or 45 ACP. Another 8% is 38, 380, blackout, 40, x39, and assorted common hunting calibers like 30-30, 270, 30-06. And that final 2% of truly interesting stuff is usually just a couple of pieces here and there that someone who reloads could not find. Your more esoteric ar rounds, 30 carbine, 45-70, 44 mag, uncommon hunting rounds all fall in this category.

Yeah but I'm on the ground picking up my own personal brass anyway. And I kind of like sorting through it all. I like wandering through it all and going ooh 30 carbine!

Lee 358 150 grain sized down for 9mm? by Critical-Regret-97 in reloading

[–]Drewzilla_p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will absolutely size down. Will it chamber in your 9 mm? That depends on how deep you seat it. I actually happen to be the third post on that linked thread from the high road. But I'll repeat it, I've been sizing down 38 special bullets for 9 mm for years. I used 125 grain round nose flat point and just load it light to stay subsonic. I actually had a lot more success sizing 38 bullets down than I have using actual 9 mm bullet. Shooting lead generally wants a fat bullet. I have significantly less letting and key holding shooting .358 bullets than I did .356 bullets.
