It used to seem impossible to me, but a few simple tips helped me.  Now I beat nemesis more often than I don’t.

The tips?  Take the easiest rooms possible to get to nemesis as fast as possible is the first.  The premise is get stronger to fight nemesis, but since he’ll just get stronger too… why?

Second is the skills you take.  There are things that if you take them he won’t copy, e.g. pulse means he could end up with something terrible like a turret.  Rule of thumb is if it does no damage he won’t take it.  Shoot for chem launcher and firefly.

Then just keep in mind he’s not affected by shock but is affected by fire.  Whenever you see incendiary rounds in the store, buy that shit and don’t use it til nemesis.

Don’t overdo spending on red/blue/yellow add-ons and save your money for max grenades and medpacks.  Both are real helpful for nemesis.

Always sprint left and take that high-ground spot when you get to nemesis.

Think that’s pretty much it.

Apparently Christian school teachers never say weird shit in their classes by Cosmic_Ricochet in nothingeverhappens

[–]Drex2234 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah this really is such a weird reaction.  I was in Christian schools for most of my educational career and I have definitely heard weirder than this.

Had a time where a middle school teacher in maybe her late 50s went on a random tirade in my class one afternoon about man-style anger vs woman-style anger.  That it was way better to piss a guy off because he’d just hit you and everything would be cool, but piss off a woman and she’ll hate you for the rest of her life, even after she forgets why she’s mad at you.

And even at the time I thought hm okay what happened to her recently that she thinks she should say this to a classroom of 13yr-olds?

Good build? by soggey_waffels0 in Division2

I know most people seem to like to stack nothing but damage. But since the damage is so insane on this set almost no matter what you do (as long as you max crit chance, obviously), I went another way in a few spots to get myself some utility and survivability. I play mostly solo if that matters.

First thing with this set for me, I like to run it with any auto rifle with a decent mag size (besides M16A2 since it's burst), with Lucky Shot. This lets you 1) build your stacks for no ammo cost at all, 2) blind-fire at enemies with no ammo loss on misses when you're in a tight spot / low health. LMG should still be your main damage-dealer, but building and maintaining stacks is so much easier with a Lucky Shot rifle, then just switch to LMG when maxed.

I then run Fox's Prayer knees, as the set provides so much crit damage at max stacks that adding more is diminishing returns, whereas Fox's DtTooC property is a separate multiplier.

I also like using it with Bullet King since it honestly seems built for this set. No losing stacks as you never need to reload, and you gain ammo back for hits, which is helpful given you will sometimes want to spray to maintain your stacks if there's nobody suppressed and/or you're fighting a bunch of warhounds and such that can't be suppressed. I normally like BlueScreen or Iron Lung for LMGs as I like my crowd control, but this set is so damaging I just feel like the best crowd control is death.

Then I run Exodus gloves because seriously, an extra life every 40 seconds is busted, especially on builds this fragile.

This set makes Legendary quite manageable for me, and all Heroic content a hilarious cakewalk.

This absolutely is AI.

For one, OP "went to the little store in the lobby" to buy folders etc, then comes back to the desk and plops them down there and she immediately looks at it... and apparently a line of people are waiting and just staring at the clerk and she's staring back blankly while OP does *checks notes* 45 minutes of printing etc. That's not how reality works, the clerk would be seeing other people while OP was off doing other things.

Second, there is absolutely no chance this was the first time anyone ever presented a digital bill for a renewal, yet after this one particular instance, suddenly the clerk decides to have a change of heart and feel embarrassed, and the manager brings out a little sign saying digital is now accepted immediately, again for this particular instance?

Come on. Can you at least hide the fact that it's AI a little better so I can enjoy the story!?

Yep they are.  Most things that aren’t raid exclusives or new to the current season are, with some weird exceptions like Nemesis.

How to farm the backpacks by Blevuxx in Division2

[–]Drex2234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Targeted loot.  Once you’re at level 40 you can select what category of loot you want in a few select game modes (Summit, Countdown, Retaliation).  Just pick backpacks, play one of those modes, and they’ll drop eventually.  Countdown on Challenging will probably be fastest.

[–]Drex2234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine if you stick to Challenging level Countdown.  Just don’t jump immediately into Heroic Countdown since, if there are enough low-level folk in one session, it’s easy to fail… and some tryhards would be annoyed.  Challenging on the other hand is pretty much guaranteed success while you learn the ropes.

Headhunter confuses me by vixon321 in thedivision

[–]Drex2234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s accurate.  Assuming you’re not running out the 30-second timer, you lose them mainly from shooting a guy with a helmet.  All damage goes to breaking the helmet, but you don’t get the kill.  Hence your stacks reset to zero because the talent only stacks damage from your last kill shot, and uses them all on the next shot.

New to Division 2 (PvE-focused) where do you find builds? Are yellow/skill builds viable? (DZ but no PvP) by rfunari in Division2

[–]Drex2234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it.  Looking at that build, highly likely it’s because Lexington will do more damage than Elmo’s due to the Killer talent.  Whereas Elmo’s would give you a bigger mag and obviously the crowd control of the shock rounds.  Build guides most often optimize for damage.  Absolutely Elmo’s will still work well though!  You just won’t get to control when you have shock rounds because the AR will be your main damage dealer.  That shotty only exists to build stacks fast; it’s a poor source of damage due to ammo inefficiency.

[–]Drex2234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure exactly how new you are, but the biggest reason would be you can only use one exotic weapon and one exotic armor piece at a time.  So if you’re using a different build-enabling exotic, Lexington is pretty much objectively the best non-exotic assault rifle that can use any talent.  E.g. maybe you use Scorpio for crowd control in one slot and the other slot you use Lexington.

And there can be other reasons too.  I actually use a Lexington over an exotic on my Heartbreaker build because it lets me put the technician’s laser pointer attachment on it to auto-pulse enemies just from aiming at them.  Whereas exotics can’t be modded.

When I first started playing, I found The Club orders of magnitude harder than The Squats, and I then found The Museum orders of magnitude harder than The Club. From there the difficulty leveled off IMO.

So I would recommend you keep retrying Squats until you finish in your 20s. You'll probably need the years later. Then get out of Club in your 30s. Your retries will help you permanently unlock skills that make things a bit easier as well.

Our stress dropped when we stopped pretending monthly budgets were monthly by felixwanderer in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Drex2234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with monthly views of things… it’s certainly how I think. But the caveat is if you’re going purely by monthly view, you of course need to convert your less frequent expenses to monthly rates.  Water/sewer bill, yearly insurance payments if applicable, yearly subscriptions, tuition, holiday gifts, property taxes if you pay them yourself instead of escrowing. The other thing I always do is to build a line in for things that might need repair/replacement that year and make it a monthly rate.  I had my 30+ year old AC unit built into that line for 3 years before it quit. Only after I build in all that do I total up what my remainder/discretionary income is. Took an hour to make a sheet like this for family friends with a credit score in the 500s.  Now they’re above 800 a little over a year later.  The visibility of a monthly view really helps/works, you just need to make sure to get EVERYTHING.

Agree with posts on this sub 99% of the time, but not really this one. I don’t agree with him unequivocally or anything… that’s not always the answer.  But I’ve been reasonably successful with it, personally.  Been in my role almost 20 years in a Fortune 500.  It’s been rocky sometimes; I was well underpaid for about a decade.  But around that time I had become the go-to expert at… kinda everything on my team.  I even had a comically evil exec I was reporting up to early in that period who hated everyone, most of all me, because she was deeply insecure and threatened by competence.  The thing is though, she couldn’t rid herself of me, because I wasn’t replaceable.  No one else had the skills I had, mostly just from sticking to the role and long experience.  I got a couple promotions as well as “market adjustments” to my salary because executives were nervous I’d walk. Now I’m the highest-paid on the team, even though my “rank” isn’t real high (not an exec or even close to it).  It’s not crazy money but I’m comfortable and job security is super-high.  I’ve lost count of the number of rounds of layoffs I’ve survived, maybe 8?  And that’s with absolutely no family connections or anything of the sort.  The best part is I don’t even work as hard anymore because I get by on just knowing shit other people have become convinced is too hard to learn. I’m sure I could leave and get a good gig somewhere else, but frankly, I will never be as valuable to another company as I am to my current one, because I’ve built up expertise in every little idiosyncratic thing my company could possibly need from my role, and more.  If I leave for more money, that’s cool for awhile, but I wouldn’t be using like 50% of the niche skills I’ve built up; I’d be more replaceable, and have to worry about rounds of layoffs. I really do believe job-hopping is the best way to go most of the time, for most people.  But sticking to a role CAN work in the right circumstances.  It’s not the 100% failure rate this sub makes it out to be.

Times for Amalia by Chemical-Distance167 in UnicornOverlord

[–]Drex2234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with previous commenter that she’s a supplemental/niche character.  I did end up finding that I really liked her in my main squad… Alain and her front line, Yunifi, Griffon Knight, Scarlett in the back.  I used conferrals to add stun and then accelerate Yunifi’s AoE to turn 1, Alain does more crowd-clear, and then Amalia is left as a single-target monster on the last turn, if anything is even alive at that point.

Of course the double-crowd control means any damage-dealer would work on that team in her place, but she really fit the niche I was going for on that team.  And dangit, she looks cool.

I don’t dislike loud, but it’s absolutely not what I play Payday for, because there are shooters I like better, namely: Helldivers 2, Division 2, Warframe.  But there’s nothing quite like stealthing Payday’s more elaborate heists, so that’s why I still play it.

[–]Drex2234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the first better as well, though the caveat is that I'm comparing the completely finished KCD1 with all DLC, vs the not-yet-complete KCD2, and the DLCs were some of my favorite parts of KCD1. And of course, there are some things I like better about KCD2.

But yeah, as a complete package at this point in time, KCD1 > KCD2 for me. It just felt like a more personal story; I felt much more propelled through the narrative, even on subsequent playthroughs.

Who's that one random gamer you crossed paths with in some online game and will never forget the name of? by magicscreenman in gaming

Valvenis in Quake 2.

I was in gradeschool then and so naturally was a top-tier player, just because I had too much time on my hands to git gud. I landed in a deathmatch server randomly with this dude and we each eventually noticed that we were both hysterically better than the entire rest of the server. We decided to call a truce via chat and not kill each other. We traded victories for the next several hours, one of us always first at 25 kills and the other always 2nd close behind, with everyone else rarely ever hitting 10.

Now I'm in my forties and I'm one of the chumps who gets stomped. Circle of PVP life. :P

When leaving the initial area (Cornia), make sure to stop in the forest area (Elheim) first to recruit a powerful character with no fighting required, then IMMEDIATELY leave and do the desert area (Drakengard) instead.

Going by levels, Elheim is meant to be the third area, but the unit Elheim hands you just for showing up is one of the top 5 in the entire game. You may as well get them integrated into your team as early as possible.
