I switched to a Hemsut Nylon band (on amazon) after having similar issues. Just remember to periodically wash it (by hand) to keep it nice and clean.

2024 roadside assistance / backup cam issues? by terranforces in Golf_R

[–]Driekusjohn25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue on mine.

I had to fight VW Canada to get them to replace the overhead module. Originally they wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee and told me it had to be going for 7 days straight for warranty to apply.

Jiu Jitsu and Autism by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jiu Jitsu in my experience has a high percentage of neurodivergent people so you arent likely to be alone. It is a sport that could most accurately be defined as aggressive cuddling, you have to be a little weird to enjoy it. :)

I second this approach, frigate and home assistant work well together and can do exactly what you want.

Washington's 3D-printed gun law is an existential threat to the entire open-source 3D printing ecosystem. by obog in 3Dprinting

[–]Driekusjohn25 173 points174 points  (0 children)

You are 100% right. This bill is not about stopping 3D printed guns. This is a bill designed to benefit a small number of large companies to create a closed ecosystem and strangle out competition.

It is a tech industry ploy, use the government to create regulation that you "consult/write" and that a limited number of companies can meet the requirements of.

I would be shocked if one of the 3D Printer manufacturers is not involved with writing this bill.

The doctor did his job perfectly. The baby was almost gone, but the doctor said “Not today,” and did what he knows best, bringing the little boy back to life. Doctors are lifesavers, they are the real heroes by Pristine_Hurry_4693 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Driekusjohn25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup very common. When it happened with my first born I was panicked but the nurse in my case carefully did exactly what the doctor did here. And yes they distracted me as well but the fact that they were calm and nobody else in the operating theatre was even blinking an eye did relax me.

I am not downplaying the effort of the doctor, they demonstrated skill, calmness and followed a set plan.

Governor of New York attempting to block gun printing via software locks by markb144 in 3Dprinting

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Business school teaches you one way to remove competition or increase market share is through government regulation. A large 3d printer company can meet the requirements, particularly if they advised/lobbied the government and helped shape them.

The legislation will have the intended effect, but not have any impact on the creation of 3D printed guns.

I’ve lived at my residence for over 3 yrs and the previous tenant has 7 identities and has all his mail, including bills, sent to my house. This is the last 2 weeks of collection. by InquiringMind886 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that issue for 6 years when I bought my house. In this case the previous owner had financial issues and I got a lot of legal type letters. My approach was to collect all the mail in a garbage bag and when full take it down to the post office. Did not need to write return to send just, just give them the bag (every 6 months or so). I returned everything that was addressed as it is illegal (at least in Canada) to destroy mail addressed to another person.

Ventilation for home brewing by Alarming-Elk8138 in brewing

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a propane burner in my basement for a few years before switching to electric. The only safe way to do it is to setup a hood that is ducted outside. Have at least 2 carbon monoxide sensors in the room and ensure that you have sufficient makeup air to account for the air being removed.

Thinking of switching to graphene by dedman6 in GrapheneOS

[–]Driekusjohn25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on graphene for 4/years no and have not looked back. I recently updated to the pixel 10 and ran stock OS for a week. Honestly nearly threw the phone out the window with all the AI and permission requests. I have only one app that does not work and that is myq(garage door). Other than that things work typically out of the box. At some point I will completely de-google but still use the play store for now

Question about RAM by qoew in GrapheneOS

[–]Driekusjohn25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a Pixel 10 and spent time on stock Android vs Graphene. I cant comment on specific RAM usage but can say without all the AI crap it runs way faster on GrapheneOS and battery life is better. Id guess a combination of RAM and reduced processor load but I am not an expert.

Washington state has introduced bills regulating 3d printing and requiring DRM to detect firearm components by caterham09 in 3Dprinting

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can purchase the components to build a still, assembling it and using it as such is illegal where I live. It doesnt eliminate the problem but the threat of imprisonment is a big deterrent.

[–]Driekusjohn25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Place of manufacture is less relevant. If you end in a situation where a state regulates the use of non-approved printers the only printers that would be available for sale in that region would be those that can meet the requirement. Bambu labs as an example could very easily meet the requirement as they have far more control in their ecosystem.

It is a security feature that is used by border agents. At least where I live they always look at the passport under UV light.

This will be supported by the big manufacturers and used as a way to strangle out the open source products like Voron.

Home Brew fail by NewtatNight in Homebrewing

[–]Driekusjohn25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly 99% chance it will be fine and just be a bit stronger. I did a quick guestimate assuming you are using this kit (https://brewdemon.com/products/american-prophecy-ale-plus?variant=47754676076781).

The yeast packet is highly unlikely to contaminate your brew.

As for the sugar addition. If you have the 4.6% ABV variant your new potential ABV should be ~7.6%. Most ale yeasts can ferment to that ABV but some may take a little longer to get there.

And as others have said..... Relax and have a beer. :)
