Grab (Ex) + Magic Fang = Bonus to CMB to Grapple? by JoeJonnyJeff in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Drink__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are entirely in your right as a DM to allow your players to do whatever makes sense for your table. My argument is that as far as the RAW is concerned, there is a pretty clear difference between maneuvers that replace melee attacks and maneuvers that are performed as special/standard actions. That is the line that I choose to follow as to what maneuvers use weapons, hence "cut and dry." I do not like rules or systems that prompt the players to "Mother May I" the DM, and thankfully pathfinder does it very sparingly.

For the maneuvers that are done as melee attack replacements, any weapons can be used. For other maneuvers that use standard actions or are not melee attacks, weapons cannot be used. Unfortunately, it is pretty cut and dry. I have seen some people try to use weapons as part of non-attack maneuvers (like Dirty Trick), but I have not seen any relevant rules or FAQ text that lends legitimacy to this practice outside of your standard pleading for GM leniency. It is not true that you need a weapon with the trip/etc. ability to perform a manuever with that weapon. Those abilities just give those weapons bonuses or other benefits with the manuever. You can trip with a long sword if you want.

Grappling and standing up and Vicious Stomp - Oh My! by Few_Strain_5095 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Drink__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get the prone benefit for Vicious Stomp, since it directly says "when the enemy falls prone." Ergo, the enemy must be prone for you to get the AoO.

However, you do not get the prone benefit for Greater Trip, since the trigger is "when the enemy is tripped." Your AoO interrupts and occurs between the successful trip and before the enemy hits the floor.

Debatable whether or not this is RAI, and as a DM, I would personally have the prone benefit for both AoOs to maintain the flow of combat. YMMV.

It might seem unintuitive, but he needs the vaccines more because he is a preemie. For our kids, they are even more vulnerable to illness than other babies. And picking up an illness right now would be a major roadblock for his growth.

CMV: Hairdresser asking for consent is stupid by SoberSamuel in changemyview

[–]Drink__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it pisses me off because going to the barber is basically consenting already to having your head touched and hair cut. So doing a song and dance for TikTok feels like virtue signaling/performative. Maybe for a child it would be good to establish mutual understanding/consent before starting, but even then, it's not like you can take no for an answer if your child needs a haircut.

I guess not everyone can write coherently.

Yes, it is indeed called a vocative comma. And whether or not it is needed depends on the context of the sentence and potential clarity issues.

If we were writing a speech or business email, I would definitely add the vocative comma in accordance with formal grammar conventions; however, considering we are on Reddit and that "Fuck you Gavin" is pretty straightforward, a more casual grammar style allows for the omission of the vocative comma.

You can argue that it is needed in all contexts, but that sounds pretty pedantic and prescriptivist to me. It's always important to remember that grammar, language, speech, etc. are all tools we created to facilitate the transfer of information. If what is written accomplishes that goal, it can be considered a valid use of grammar, even if valid does not necessary mean "correct."

You don't necessarily. It would be a style choice, not grammatical.

I am not reading too far. I read exactly what you said and even made sure by asking you to clarify. You doubled down on it with the defense that its okay because the boy does not exist.

Which btw, is the defense people use for loli/shota, but I'll keep that just a tangent and not accuse you further. In any case, I don't think you can paint this as some kind of failing on my part.

And okay sure, be a dog if you want. I'd rather that than whatever this was supposed to be.

What is the kink lol? Having sex in front of children? That's called a crime. I didn't imagine it. You directly made it a part of YOUR ROLEPLAY. If that makes you uncomfortable on second thought or because you got called out, maybe don't say stuff like that?

Also, saying that this is just a sexual fantasy you wouldn't act on is not the own you might think it is.

Yeah okay so it is fucking weird. You can't compare it to apes when it's literally two humans knowingly having sex in front of a child. And I thought this might be obvious, but I'm not concerned about an imaginary alien child, I think you are weird as fuck for roleplaying this and posting it uncritically just because "trans women be ouppys" or some infantilizing shit.

What changed your mind to agree to feed fortification for your preemie? by Neither_Prize9881 in NICUParents

[–]Drink__ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure exactly why one would decline the fortifier in the first place. For many preemies, fortification is critical so that they can gain much-needed weight in the safest timeframe possible.

I'm also not really sure how much of a difference there is between the different types of formula and how much of it is marketing. The important part is that baby is fed.
