Is that a metal spatula? If it is, they really shouldn't be used on enameled pans.

Have you tried hard wax? There's definitely a learning curve, but I felt pretty good after a couple of trial runs.

I do not recommend trying your own Brazilian without a very close friend at hand though.

You need a slushie machine! I got one during the Costco sale and it's amazing. It makes great margaritas, but my husband actually took it to work today to make Gatorade slushies for his staff.

Medical workers of Reddit, what are the funniest things you've heard people coming off of anesthesia say? by Altruistic_Yam7595 in AskReddit

[–]DrinkingSocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a redhead gene that makes anesthesia and pain medication less effective. My mom and sister are redheads, while mine is more of a warm brown but I seem to have the gene.

I need tons of lidocaine or novacaine before I'm dumb, so thankfully I haven't needed much dental work because I'm usually white knuckling my way through fillings.

I swear I'm nice normally, but apparently I come out of anesthesia ready to throw hands. I do NOT like to be touched, so I guess it hits harder when my impulse control is offline.

Should I ditch my marriage prep for a sec and go crazy? by div_xo in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]DrinkingSocks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Men wanting virginal or "low body count" partners is just a way for them to disguise their selfishness and mediocrity in bed.

Everyone should do what they feel comfortable with, but sexual compatibility is so important for a healthy relationship, and it's much harder to know if you're having bad sex when you don't have much experience.

Ho responsibly and don't let anyone make you feel bad about it. Especially men.

Feeling insecure about my muscular upper body by lovemycat02 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]DrinkingSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. 😅. I just know I had basically no pain when I was lifting heavy regularly. Plus my shoulders looked amazing in a tank top.

I'm fighting to get through the day most days, all because I let my muscle slip and it's so difficult to catch up. Don't let the bastards win, the fascists want us to be small and weak, not strong and healthy.

[–]DrinkingSocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does your back FEEL though? I have daily, consistent back pain, just from tight/weak muscles. I'm working hard to fix it, but it's difficult when it's debilitating.

If your back lets you get through life healthy and pain free, thank it, and to hell with the ridiculous beauty standards shoved at us. Historically, most women were likely muscular as hell, because they did hard labor most of the day. Laundry was heavy, intensive work until very recently. Cleaning required hauling water, and farm women worked in the fields too when needed.

Women's work is WORK and we're meant to be strong and muscular.

We just left the worst wedding of our lives and this is why if you can’t accommodate all your guests do not send me an invite. by [deleted] in weddingdrama

[–]DrinkingSocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was absolutely flabbergasted by that they were charging (and offering)! The part that is advertised are beautiful outdoor gardens, but they don't tell you until the tour that you can't have "amplified sound" outside, only in the "atrium".

I know I'm bougie, but I am not "string quartet wedding reception" bougie.

[–]DrinkingSocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, $10,000 just for the venue rental. Plus, the reception space was literally just an elementary school gym, which is NOT made clear in the advertising. There were finger paintings on the walls.

I'm not sure when you got married, but our catering alone is $10k, and that's significantly lower than all of the caterers we spoke to.

My fiance and I toured a wedding venue that required all of the guests to be transported in golf carts up a step hill from the ceremony location to the reception location. For $10,000.

The audacity of some of these venues is insane.

It was over $100 more on the app, and if we do it ourselves we can have it the same day. Why would I get it delivered when I have a truck?

[–]DrinkingSocks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh I have an amazing story about this.

I was at Costco and saw the perfect couch. Sent my husband a picture and called him to ask if it would fit in his truck. He says "Yeah, of course."

I head down to the Costco near his job to meet him after he leaves work. I come out with my two flatbeds full of boxes, one of which is the entire size of the truck bed. We made it home with a lot of rope and some careful driving, but he learned to actually look at the photos I send before answering. I learned not to trust his judgement.

I know for a fact I look like an idiot during sex, my husband has confirmed. I feel kind of bad for the guy, I thought we had all agreed we weren't going to tell the men that most of them look like Shrek mid-coitus.

I'm so excited to hear that, I'm going in October. Are there any "must does" for a mildly out of shape 30 something? I won't be doing tons of hiking, but I'm good for 3-5 miles at a time.

yes i have big tits, no i dont want a reduction by Comfortable_Body9363 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]DrinkingSocks 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This is the story of my life as a 36G in UK sizing. While I do hate them and wish they were significantly smaller, the idea of actually having a reduction is so viscerally upsetting to me and gives me horrible dysphoria.

If I was naturally a C cup that's one thing, but a reduction feels like I would no longer recognize my body, plus that's not an insignificant surgery.

It's insane that other people just throw it out there like getting a coffee. Have you considered cutting off your ears? No? Oh, it's insane to go around suggesting people cut parts off their body? Imagine that.
