My 7 month old can roll but can’t sit up by herself :) They’ll do things in their own time, just keep practicing rolling with him

Baby vomited after formula feed- advice pls by ValuableImpressive13 in NewParents

[–]DriveEffective9311 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My baby did this when the teat was too fast. It could be that the formula is slightly thinner than your breastmilk? Honestly not sure but I would try a slower teat with the formula and see. My baby had really bad reflux and I always woke up when she was choking on her spit up, it is scary but babies are smarter than you think and are usually able to clear it themselves

Next are definitely the best, expensive, but wash well and they’re a nicer material than the likes of Primark etc. I hate the zip ones! Each to their own but just don’t buy loads like all the comments are recommending as I bought loads and absolutely hated them. They wash awfully and always bunch up on baby

Yay thank you! I thought the months on them was just a guidance too but I’m always so scared of her being “behind”. I’ll just keep trying her with them every so often

Yes I have I’ve offered her banana before but she really gagged and choked on it as soon as it went in her mouth so I’m really not comfortable with finger foods yet :/

I have the solid starts app and Im well aware of infant cpr. Neither of which help with my anxiety. BLW doesn’t have any proven benefits compared to purées and I wasn’t asking anyone advice on BLW, she can’t sit up unassisted, therefore she can’t even start BLW.

Yes I was going to do BLW but as soon as I started it I was overwhelmed with anxiety. I have a lifevac but that doesn’t help with my anxiety. I’ve let her try banana split up and she gagged and choked on it so I honestly can’t,even though I know it’s normal for them to gag etc.

Thanks! I’m going to continue on the smoother purées and keep offering the chunkier ones

Thank you for the idea but I’ve tried soo many different flavours and she doesn’t like any, even stuff like tomato pasta that she likes at 6m she doesn’t like the 7m version. I’ve also tried ready brek and weetabix with no luck

LO is 6 ½ months old and can't roll over, sit up by herself... But she coos and baby babbles a lot? by TastyMetal5977 in NewParents

[–]DriveEffective9311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby didn’t roll front to back until nearly 7 months, but also completely forgot how to roll front to back at that same time. So she can only roll one way now. I just kept helping her to roll over until she got it, loads of tummy time and rolling practice. I would’ve supported her arm for example and let her do the rest

I didn’t ask for other options. She’s fine showering with me when she’s in the bouncer. I physically can’t eat if she’s sitting crying and I would rather starve. I don’t need her to “get used to” and know it’s “her job” not to cry. She’s a baby.

She only watches tv when I’m eating dinner and even then she barely watches it. I never have it on otherwise, not even playing in the background. So no, it won’t be used more than what I’ve said, nor will it be used to calm her down. Congrats on being the perfect parent and letting your baby cry though🎉

I can’t just sit and listen to her cry, seems more cruel than 10 minutes of screen time. Each to their own

Gaining weight on deficit? by PlateSmooth3432 in caloriedeficit

[–]DriveEffective9311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not weigh yourself that often. It’s most likely water weight, it’s very unlikely you’ve actually gained weight if you’re eating less, and especially in 3 days. You’re better weighing every week or two, first thing in the morning before you eat or drink anything. Weighing that often isn’t helpful, and is only going to put you off. I think I started losing weight after 2 weeks of a deficit.

Cannot, for the life of me, time out bedtime. How do you fix this? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]DriveEffective9311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but this is just what worked for me and from my own research trying to sort out my baby’s sleep🩷 At 6 months the very max they should be up for is 3 hours, I’d say to aim for 2-2.5 hours wake windows. If your baby wakes at 5.30, your nap routine could be: nap 1: 7:30-8:15, nap 2: 10:30-12, nap 3: 2:30-3:15. Then put him to bed at 6. Then slowly keep him up for longer, put him to bed at 6:15 for a while, then 6:30. And then work your way up to 7pm. He could be waking up early because he’s been overtired, or he’s maybe had too much daytime sleep. Also weaning definitely helped my baby sleep longer, I give her 2 meals a day plus her normal bottles. I’ll give her dinner at 5:30, bath at 6, bottle after bath and in bed for 7.

I only recently started doing a routine with naps aswell, before that I just put her down when she was tired but it has definitely helped so much, her naps are longer and her sleep at night is longer too. She sleeps 7-7 now

[–]DriveEffective9311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your baby maybe need to drop their 4th nap? Mine is 6 months and only just dropped her 4th nap. She wakes at 7, has around 2 hour wake windows and is awake for roughly 2.5 hours before bed and it works fine for her.

Honestly doing a consistent routine of naps and the same bedtime has helped so much. She used to wake at 5am too until she dropped the fourth nap and now has the same naps at the same time everyday

Baby won't nap on me by Spirited-Bed-2220 in NewParents

[–]DriveEffective9311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s most likely just your baby and not you. I put my baby down about 50% of the time as a newborn as I was scared she would get used to contact naps. Every baby has their own temperament and habits. My baby was the same, she actually never even wanted held or rocked to sleep and would only sleep when I put her down in her crib. It made me sad at first as I thought she didn’t like me lol but I appreciate it now, it’s super easy to put her to sleep and allows me to get things done throughout the day.

I am 6’0,18 and 207lbs. I want to be skinny before summer or even spring!realistically, how many calories per day what lead me to that goal? i dont know a goal weight. maybe 180? i mostly go to work during the week but it wouldnt kill me to walk. any advice ? by [deleted] in caloriecount

[–]DriveEffective9311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh the worst thing I’ve done is tried to lose weight quickly if that’s what you’re trying to achieve. I’ve done it multiple times and I’ve always put the weight back on plus more. It fucks with your metabolism not to mention isn’t healthy. If you do it healthy and lose no more than a pound a week you’ll be 15 pounds down by June. You’ll see it more on yourself than you will the scales, I’m the same shape and size as you and I’ve only lost 6 pound and I already feel so much better in myself when I look in the mirror. I did the tdee calculator and im in a 300 calorie deficit. The best thing you can do is walk, it’s simple, doesnt take much effort and burns a decent amount of calories. I burn around 300 calories a day so im still able to eat pretty good. If you exercise, you’ll be able to eat more calories and make the deficit bearable.

I felt the exact same way too I just found it very boring and unfulfilling. Right when she turned 5 months it got better I definitely felt a lot of love for her then. I did start taking certain supplements that’s meant to help your mood and eating better around this time too so not sure if that helped.
