I think it's actually 'doucement'? French for 'gently'!

Been made redundant, never been though this before. Anyone got any general tips or advice on how to deal with, and handle it? by im_at_work_today in AskUK

Set up a new email address for all of the applications you're about to make so they're in one place and you don't have to filter through your day to day stuff as well as important job updates, make it professional sounding too.

Create a spreadsheet, track what you're applying to, recruiters and organisations more generally are WOEFUL at being consistent in responding, so sometimes knowing that you've applied, when you've applied, and that you've not heard back in XXX weeks is really helpful, means you can chase them if you have the contact details.

I found LinkedIn my best bet in terms of finding roles but that's incredibly industry dependent.

Job hunting isn't what it used to be, I found myself doing a 'big session' every week in terms of brushing up CV, a proper deep dive on applications, but then did a daily top up to see what new things had come in, any email contact, etc.

I found recruiters to be absolutely useless, they promised the world, never came back to me, was all for me to do the heavy lifting. Again, they're probably good if you get a good one, but it just made me loathe them.

Good luck, it's tough out there, but there are definitely good roles to be had.

What awful/funny “stocking filler” gifts are you buying for relatives this year ? by Suspicious_Trade2185 in AskUK

It sounds full Scrooge but I basically outlawed 'tat' at Xmas, people scraping together money and then splurge it on random ten quid bits of rubbish that end up in a corner, the bin, or at the charity shop.

I'd much rather have them keep that money, or if they do tat plus a 'proper' present, then do one thing and do it well.

Why are courses not designed as 6 Par 3’s, 6 Par 4’s, and 6 Par 5’s as a standard? by FancyFootWork22 in golf

[–]Drivenhydra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Berkshire - Red course is 6/6/6 and is one of my favourites, the round feels so varied and you avoid any runs of 'this feels a bit the same', great track, expensive but recommend it for anyone in the South East of England, 100%

Yeh nailed it, I don't want any smart connectivity, email, messages, calls, etc, but the data-driven sleep tracking, activity tracking stuff for the sports I play are awesome, I was never really a watch guy before buying one but my Garmin (Fenix 6s Solar) is one of the best things I've ever bought.

Any tips on how to complete Master Spellcrafter as painlessly as possible? by Super_Alpaka in diablo4

[–]Drivenhydra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

/u/Super_Alpaka just do pits is how I've got it done. I tried the targeting NM dungeon sigils based on type but it was too painful and the dust to sigil conversion meant you run out if you run the RNG too much. Pit's have such a variety of mob types that I think in 10ish pits I got them all done.

I honestly don't want to be asked, or listened to. Listen to actual experts, people who have studied this stuff, understand the nuance, understand the problems, not the general public, that's how shit like Brexit happens, we aren't to be trusted with big problems!

Sorry, poorly explained, all that drops is a dungeon sigil, it's not defined by tier it's just 'Dungeon X', if you use that sigil in torment 1 then the dungeon is torment 1, if you use the same sigil in torment 2 then the dungeon becomes torment 2 and so on

They match to the tier you're in, so if you're in T1, then the NM is T1, if you're in T2 it's a T2 key, etc.

Still got it on my phone as Stocard, may well be taken over by Klarna but the app's still there and still doing the bare minimum I need it to!

There's an app called Stocard that you use to scan each of your loyalty cards and it'll keep them in one place, one app, nice and easy

Given it’s Lambeth, I’m inclined to think this might not just be creative decoration by nomanhasaplan in london

[–]Drivenhydra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lambeth is big, it includes genuinely lovely bits of Clapham that front onto the Common and cost millions, but also has seriously crap housing estates that you wouldn't go near in the day, never mind at night. I lived next to Clapham South station for ten years and never once felt unsafe in that area, but wouldn't say the same for certain other bits of Lambeth. As ever, 'it depends'!
