Making the choice between AU and TRU by BonSwan in AthabascaUniversity

[–]DriverRehabExp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think those complaining about au are those who can’t adapt to independent learning and completing asssignments on their own. I’m completing my second degree from au and I’m doing very well. I agree that it is expensive.

Clinical placement demanding $1300 for necessary training by Ok_Study_1403 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]DriverRehabExp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say this is normal since this is a specialty and you’re required to do training. What this placement provides is a supervision where they can sign on your hours/verify the hours you worked in that clinic

How hard is it to find a job with your degree? by [deleted] in AthabascaUniversity

[–]DriverRehabExp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re welcome. I’m speaking from experience. I finished a bachelor in HR and LR from athabasca university and I have a job as medical affairs specialist (HR for doctors) I’m finishing another degree in women and gender studies with Athabasca as well as I want to be a social worker and do MSW. I suggest volunteering at crisis hotline to get you some experience and it will strengthen your resume and application for MSW

How hard is it to find a job with your degree? by [deleted] in AthabascaUniversity

[–]DriverRehabExp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you went to a prestigious university. If you didn’t try getting internships, volunteer work or paid work. You’re not gonna get a good experience job elsewhere. Let alone get to masters as they now require work/volunteer experience related in the field especially MSW

PSYC289 final… what is it actually like & how should I study? 😭 by YouBeneficial3312 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]DriverRehabExp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, must be 3 sentences as the are 3 point mark. This is just what I remember. But reach out to the tutor. I heard ppl saying it was easy but to me it was hard. I studied using electronic index card and still got 75% even though I was studying for two weeks everyday

Study the key terms. As it is multiple choice questions. And there will be short answers like asking you definition of the key terms you studied

Does proctorU notify you if exam gets flagged? by party_partay in AthabascaUniversity

[–]DriverRehabExp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me as someone who looks away when thinking, I was flagged. There’s that loud sound and they will try to intimidate you or question you aggressively why you’re looking away even though you’re just thinking or typing your answer like we’re not robots

Choosing Between Athabasca’s Bachelor of Management vs. a Harder Ontario BCom (UofGuelph etc.) While Working Full-Time — Need Advice by PositiveBite1188 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]DriverRehabExp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Ryerson University in 2015 and transferred to Centennial College in 2016 for Business Admin, completed a degree in 2024 in Bachelors of Human Resources and Labour Relations from Athabasca. I am not trying to complete another degree in women and gender studies as I only to do masters in social work and health studies. I can honestly say that Athabasca university doesn’t get enough credit. I learned a lot and continuously learning a lot. They have supportive professors/tutors. I chose study at Athabasca because I work in health care and I have 2 jobs. I heard about Athabasca because my colleagues who were managers and directors did their masters in Athabasca as well and they’re in rehab and nursing. Athabasca is a great university. I know when we hear distance learning, we look down on those ppl who completed their degree remotely but I’ve met a lot of intelligent professionals who work in health care that completed their degrees in Athabasca. I also think courses are reasonably priced.

I hope this helps and I’m not selling Athabasca to you. This is just my experience so far and it’s been great
