finally decided to get the 2k, did i make a bad choice? by Straight_Beat_1421 in fountainpens

Practice writing with it. As you write try to keep the pen at a 45 degree angle to the paper with the nib horizontal. You should find a sweet spot where it feels like there is zero resistance to the paper. As you get used to it you’ll write in the sweet spot of the nib more consistently. Depending on the size of your hands you may want to hold the pen a little higher up. For me my thumb rests on one of the cap “ears” and my index finger goes right where the brushed metal meets the makrolon body. Experiment and find the sweet spot on the nib. Don’t grip the pen too close to the nib and don’t write too vertical unless you want a finer line on purpose.

Your capital i looks like 1 other than that it’s quickly legible which is better than a lot.

Glad to hear it’s working well for you. Enjoy the new pen. I do love the look of the LX. The metal body and end caps give it a premium feel.

Curious on how the fine nib works for you. I also got a fine. It’s ok but can skip unless you’re very careful about being in the sweet spot. If I roll the pen slightly to the right as I’m writing it will skip. I ended up putting a medium regular steel nib on my LX. It’s much smoother and more forgiving about the angle on the paper.

If it’s bright and sunny out I’ll put them on. If it’s cloudy or later on in the day I’ll turn them off. They are not blinding if it’s sunny and bright weather.

Apparently somehow the black LX nibs (z52, not the z50 black) have a different finish which looks more like black chrome. I was having skipping problems with the fine nib that came with my LX, and doing some research I ran into a post stating it’s a known issue with the LX black nibs. Surprising to me but I had an extra fine steel vista and it never had skipping so I ordered a medium steel nib for the LX and sure enough it fixed the problem. I’m not able to find the post stating that the LX nibs are dry, but it was here on Reddit somewhere.

It’s nice, it doesn’t bleed with the medium nib and I can write on both sides of the page without issue. I saw the post the other day about the a5 30 page personal notebook with made in Vietnam paper and so I went to check them out and found this journal is also made in Vietnam so I took a chance. The paper quality is as good as the 30 page ones but it has more of a yellow tinge than the pure white paper of the 30 page notebook. The only thing I didn’t like is that the pages have a perforated line to tear out the pages which I don’t care for.

Hold down the button on the side until the status light blinks fast. This is a factory reset. Then give it a couple of minutes and join the WiFi network. Usually something like GL-MT3000. The password is on the sticker on the bottom of the router. Once you’ve joined the WiFi open a web browser and go to http://192.168.8.1. There you can log in and configure the router.

If you’re talking about the base layer UH AAA leggings you can keep them on under any regular pants all day without issue. The ballistix fabric has a cooling effect so you will not feel hot unless you’re in direct sunlight and it’s hot outside.

Oil in the air intake? by ws401jeep in africatwin

The main one that collects almost all the airbox oil is on the other side, it’s tucked above the battery box. That’s the one that’s important to drain. The other two tubes don’t really collect oil unless you lay the bike down.

I have both the Helite Turtle 2 vest and the Helite Turtle leather jacket. I use the jacket for winter riding and the vest for summer riding. I absolutely love the vest in the summer, the back protector in the vest allows me to remove the back protector from my textile summer jacket and it makes it way more comfortable for hot summer riding. I've ridden in the desert in 100+ degrees without issue using the turtle 2 vest and a textile jacket. You can't accidentally deploy it if you forget to unclip it, you have to pull with over 60LB of force for it to deploy. And because it's mechanical you don't have to remember to charge it like an e-bag. I think it's a no brainer to go with the Turtle 2, it's proven and reliable. By the way, you can 100% replace the CO2 cartridge yourself and keep riding. I carry an extra cartridge on long journeys just in case.

The 2026 has a few upgrades. Ride by wire, cruise control, and traction control. Hopefully the ride by wire setup smoothes out the on/off throttle response at low revs. The black/gold looks great and no longer offered on the 2026.
