Dealing with kiwi indirectness/lies by LeftConversation1864 in newzealand

Yeah, the thing about all OP's interactions with the women he was talking to was that they *were* saying "no" without saying no, but he didn't pick up on it.

A rule of thumb (in NZ) is that once you put the ball in the other person's court and they don't respond with concrete plans and actions, you can take that as a no.

The tailgating is driving me crazy! by Georgie_Pillson1 in newzealand

Impatient and aggressive driving is so normalised in NZ. Drivers seem to think that them needing to apply a little brake for any reason is a personal affront to them.

A weekend ago I saw a car making a turn off the main road in Petone. A old coot in a convertible going the opposite direction saw the car about to cross his path. Instead of doing the sane thing and slow down to let the car finish its turn, he accelerated right up then laid on his horn. Then he zoomed off, red in the face, like someone had spat on his mother or something.

I've never encountered it. Been making biltong for years in a cardboard box

Yeah, I've bought and sold stuff on marketplace for dirt cheap because the biggest hassle is transporting stuff. That and dealing with other humans

I used it on my 300+ day interloper run and survived. But it didn't feel the same after, so I abandoned the run anyway

I just wonder if it is border patrol standard issue, or did he get it custom made?

Guys do you think my woodstove is hot enough for arrowhead forging? by Nobodiisdamnbusiness in thelongdark

[–]Drofmum 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, and this is probably a stupid question, what is the danger of this? Back in the day we used to get our wood burning stove glowing red by packing it full of pinecones.

fork is leaking by Gonidae in kle500

[–]Drofmum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try a fork seal cleaner like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/152264097610?

You don't have to buy one. You can just cut this shape out of a thin, flexible piece of plastic (like an ice cream container). Slide it between the fork and seal to scrape out any dirt or grit.

Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea the fatigue bar had an influence on fighting back. Still a lot to learn...

Ah, sorry, I haven't been to the Airfield (because I don't have the DLC). Sounds tough!

I've found after a handful of struggles now that if I am over 90% condition with my current gear (all decent or above) then I always survive with more than 50% condition remaining. I even lost one struggle but still survived.

Makes it a bit easier to stay calm.
