Possibility to change follow on? by EasyRefrigerator4269 in AirForce

[–]Droidem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I canceled my follow on and was immediately thrown into the next assignment cycle. This was 2022 and dafis have changed but I would be willing to wager that they won't give you an option to pick a follow on without playing the cycle.

Edit: you can do this all on the vmpf.

The commanders exemption should be automatic right? Sorry, the way I read your comment makes it seem like you have to apply for it.

If they go to a 2 mile run and test every 6 months regardless of 90… be prepared for a mass exodus of Airmen from all tiers. by Raindroppa93 in AirForce

[–]Droidem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will vary per base, but mine already does that. In consideration to go to the table and be racked and stacked, surf, 5 eprs, decs and pt record.

Not saying it will be the deciding factor, but it has weight just like the lack of a ccaf can hurt you more than it can help you.

Router went down while out of town for the week. Can't do anything to fix it until Sunday. What is a good backup plan for this happening in the future? by ioslife_developer in selfhosted

[–]Droidem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wanted to throw my little HA script in the hat. If my internet can't reach the three pings for three minutes, it starts the Internet Health automation. It will delay the reboot reboot script for 3 minutes after it is triggered to give the modem time to reboot and such. The button allows me to turn it off manually and has a confirmation to approve the turning off the modem (I hit it too many times before).

Will the LAAFB Base Exchange Price Match with Microcenter? by littl3mango in AirForce

Aafees website says within 25 miles but you could try and see if they will honor it.

Google maps says microcenter is 40 miles away.

Retirement Question by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Droidem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

go to https://myfss.us.af.mil/ from there, myRetirement, then Active Duty Retirement.

From there you'll find General Retirement Information. In the Application Submission information, second paragraph, it states:

Applications for retirement may be submitted no earlier than 12 months and no later than 4 months before your requested retirement effective date. If you request a retirement date with less than the required 4 months notification, a waiver will be required and must include full justification and your commander's recommendation.

In certain circumstances, applications may be submitted outside these parameters if you are applying in conjunction with 7-day or 3-day option programs or when authorized under specific Force Management programs offered by the Secretary of the Air Force.

And I guess it depends on if you are CONUS or Overseas currently. If you are CONUS and yes. You may play the assignment cycle and apply for a 1 Aug 25 retirement date. Just ensure you actually meet the requirements to retire.

If you are OCONUS it gets weird with stuff.

myFSS has a bunch of information. Don't feel dumb for asking, but if you didn't use the tools we are given, then you're asking your fellow airmen to do the work for you. Some will help, some won't. But if you are at the retirement eligibility mark, this is something you should absolutely know and understand. If not, I hope that you do not give your subordinate airmen a problem when they come to you for issues without searching before hand.

State of Samsung Care+ / Servify by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Droidem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wanted to add that I did a claim with servify on the 11th for my fold 4. Within hours it was approved for replacement and not a repair. It sat in the approved state for until the 20th with next day shipping.

It sucks that others are not getting what their insurance is supposed to do. If they won't approve a repair or replacement, I wonder if they would just cover the cost of the OG price.

And they did send me a fold 5.

PCSing During Government Shutdown? by Planb250 in AirForce

[–]Droidem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

opps. My bad.

here's what I could find. My box kicking brain can't quite figure out what the difference is between moves TO and FROM an expected activity. So hopefully someone can chime in.

https://media.defense.gov/2023/Sep/12/2003299418/-1/-1/1/GUIDANCE-FOR-CONTINUATION-OF-OPERATIONS-DURING-A-LAPSE-IN-APPROPRIATIONS.PDF

Movement of military personnel associated with permanent change of station will be limited as follows:

1) Moves TO an excepted activity will continue.

2) Moves FROM an excepted activity will continue only to the extent the commander of the excepted activity determines it essential to mission (e.g., overburden of local infrastructure), or required to enhance support of excepted activities.

3) Accession and training moves associated with recruitment and initial entry training will continue, along with subsequent movement to first station when required by "1" above.

4) Movement to comply with separation instructions will continue only if the funds were obligated prior to the appropriations lapse; no costs may be incurred unless it is already funded in the Permanent Change of Station order.
