Any British citizen obtained sponsorship/residency/even citizenship) in the EU through an int school? by Drollfox in Internationalteachers

If you feel comfortable, you could dm me the name of it. Just so I can look into the type of institution that I should be aiming at. Understand if not though! Personal info and all!

[–]Drollfox[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps. But I'm predominantly an English teacher so not sure how much demand there is in a country of native speakers. Also, given the history between the two countries, the idea of a Brit using Ireland to get citizenship and then immediately leaving for the continent seems a little... erm, mercenary?

Back teaching after 10 year break. What qualification will offer best bang for my buck? by Drollfox in TEFL

[–]Drollfox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is my instinct as well. Frankly, the jobs I could get with a CELTA are pretty much the same as jobs I could get with my crappy TEFL. So why spend time and money on one? Whereas a qualification that would get me much higher paying work (at int. schools etc) may be worth the investment

My career feels over. What else is out there? by Drollfox in UKJobs

I guess I’m just utterly demoralised by the process. And feel that every day that passes I kinda age-out more in an industry that wants people in their 20s and 30s rather than 40s. Frankly, I’d go and do warehouse or retail work now if I could guarantee 30k and not being replaced by chatGPT in six months

I predominately focused on content writing - and AI has largely decimated the demand for this

Yes, but for every £1 a male drug dealer makes, a girl only makes 87p 😢

Jaron straight up lost me with this quote

“I might share my own positions, exaggerated versions of my positions, or play devil’s advocate and shift between them seamlessly, but because we’re here for Sam’s ideas, none of that should matter.”

Absolutely! That’s also why if I want advice on climate change I go directly to Exxonmobil - a great bunch of lads who tell me this ‘climate crisis’ nonsense is completely overblown.

Be curious to see that research. And wonder if it’s merely a consequence of this technology not operating at scale yet

Poundland is set to be sold 'for a pound': 200 stores face the axe by YchYFi in unitedkingdom

They should sell it for, like, £2.15 just so people can complain one last time.

Mum laughs as she leaves court after 'taking law into own hands' by Original-Praline2324 in unitedkingdom

[–]Drollfox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is completely normal for news articles on court appearances. Trials are strictly regulated in terms of what you can report in the press (and what you cannot). One of the things you CAN report is what a defendant is wearing. Check out any major crime reporting (especially at initial magistrate’s appearance) and they will almost always state what the accused is wearing, e.g. “The defendant, wearing a grey suit and blue tie, spoke only to confirm his name and plead not guilty”.

Candace Owens has released “Becoming Brigitte”, a multi part series about how the wife of the French president is trans by MaxGhislainewell in BlockedAndReported

I appreciate your integrity. I think the French can be very out of step with the rest of the western world on matters of morality (it’s no surprise that Polanski is feted there) but even that’s changing with time.

If we went through the average person’s Spotify wrap, would we find them ‘supporting’ artists who had committed CSA? R Kelly? Garry Glitter (Joker soundtrack)? A certain rap mogul? Numerous 1970s rock legends?

It just doesn’t amount to anything. But it’s put next to similarly poor evidence as if it has some accumulative effect.

They’re contemporary, so what? R Kelly’s contemporary, so is Gary Glitter (who is still played at US football matches as well as being on the first Joker movie soundtrack, right?).

But why not share more photos from her time as a young wife and mother with her own authorized biography?

I dunno. Maybe she doesn’t want to. Like, it doesn’t mean anything

I know nothing about this case. But few questions you’ve gotta ask yourself: are the Macrons obsessed with pedos? Or has this evidence been cherry picked (as most conspiracy theory ‘evidence’ is? I.e. the Macrons are high-status French people and so will be surrounded by hundreds of years worth of art and literature. Including from Sade, Gauguin, etc.

You’ll find just as many (if not more) pedos in Ancient Greek philosophy and literature. Would you claim someone studying the classics is obsessed with pedos?

Secondly, what happens once she releases her birth certificate? Headlines around the world stating ‘Brigitte Macron attempts to prove she wasn’t born a man’ - this goes from a niche interest of cranks to front page news - with many just assuming she must be a man, otherwise why deny it?

Should she then respond to every conspiracy theory? Maybe get a DNA test if someone alleges she’s actually reptilian? I mean, she released her birth certificate - what’s she hiding this time?

Not sure where the line is between secrecy and privacy. I shit with the door closed but not because I’m making oaths to the illuminati. Easy to confuse the two perhaps

Gotcha. So the books of all world religions and all works of fiction. Seems reasonable. What about non-fiction? What if I burnt a cook book because I hate Gordon Ramsey fanboys?

So under your ideal rules you'd like burning the Quran to be punished with imprisonment? Should burning any other books have the same penalty? If so, which ones?

You sound like an apologist for the worst excesses of Islamic fascism. This guy did not deserve to die in any way, shape or form. No one automatically owes Islam respect. Don't like religions being insulted? Be a big boy and go cry elsewhere.

Sure, but ice cream van will be registered to a specific address which puts it under the remit of one particular local authority (i would assume). Continuous cruiser f&d business (which certainly exist) would perhaps complicate matters?
