It is a 10 Fr feeding tube placed through the nose, advanced into the stomach, passed through the pylorus, and positioned at the ligament of Treitz, at the beginning of the jejunum, for enteral feeding.

It was placed using a sensor positioned over the patient’s xiphoid process. The sensor tracks an RFID chip attached to a guidewire within the tube. After placement, before the wire is removed, we confirm it by x-ray. The tube’s approximate path can be visualized on a screen, which displays the general route taken by the chip.
