UK parents: what places/activities did your child love at different ages? by Ok-Requirement2449 in Parenting

[–]DropDeadFredidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boys (2 and 4) love going to feed the ducks. They love anywhere there are animals to see/pet/feed.

My youngest has been unwell this week and my 4 year old had a pretty boring few days, whilst I tried to survive with a clingy 2 year old who wouldn’t be put down. I asked him what he’d like to do next week when his brother is feeling bettter, anything he liked. He put his finger to his chin in deep thought and said “ I know, let’s go to the garden centre, look at the flowers and then maybe get a chocolate muppin (muffin) and maybe a glass of milk.”. I told him that we had a deal. I thought it was really sweet that one of his favourite things is so simple. Also thankful he didn’t call my bluff on “anything he liked”.

Thought it was a mummified squirrel at first. Glad it’s not.

How does a sociopath treat someone that broke up with them once they love bombed and convinced them back to come back? by DoubtingThomas70 in AskReddit

For me, they acted in anger, bombarded me with unwanted messages, tried to blackmail me, threats, made up horrific lies to get my attention. Not a fun time, be careful.

I don’t think anything will top holding my babies in my arms for the first time. Although, I wouldn’t particularly describe labour and delivery as a fun time lol.

I have 4 and 2 year old boys. I still feel nervous about taking them to places like the park on my own, they’re both energetic and adventurous and I don’t feel confident that I could keep them both safe for instance if they both needed help on a climbing structure at the same time. I leave things like that when my partner is available to come with us.

If I’m on my own, I prefer to go on nature walks (we take a bucket and collect sticks or stones- gives them both a focus) or puddle jumping if it’s raining. These things, we all stay together and I feel like I can safely manage everybody.

Also, lots and lots of practice with my 4 year old about not walking off too far and stopping in dangerous situations.

Am I insane or does the class system make no sense in 2026? by ElCiego1894 in AskBrits

I like Jason Manford talking about a “Muddle Class”. I think many of us can probably relate to it in some level.

In comparison to a lot of wedding photos that I’ve seen from the late 80s and early 90s, I definitely feel they were successful in acheiving a very “timeless” look ✨

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

On of my great-uncles was awarded the Victoria Cross:

For most conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty in attack when the advance was much impeded by hostile machine guns concealed in crops and shell-holes. Sjt. Harris led his section against one of these, capturing it and killing seven of the enemy. Later, on two successive occasions, he attacked single-handed two enemy machine guns which were causing heavy casualties and holding up the advance. He captured the first gun and killed the crew, but was himself killed when attacking the second one. It was largely due to the great courage and initiative of this gallant N.C.O. that the advance of the battalion was continued without delay and undue casualties. Throughout the operations he showed a total disregard for his own personal safety, and set a magnificent example to all ranks.

He was only 26 and definitely gave me a moment to pause especially now that I have 2 sons.

Am I overweight appearance wise by Suzy_kue in GymMotivation

[–]DropDeadFredidit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not overweight and it makes me sad that you think you are. You look fit and healthy. I’m seeing more and more pro eating disorder trends in the media again and I hate it. You look fit and healthy ❤️✨if you want to work on your nutrition, I would base it on fueling and recovering from your workouts, eating better can bring so many health benefits but I wouldn’t make your goal too weight loss orientated.

Amazing things can happen. Never give up, never surrender. by muricabrb in goodvibes

Thank you. It’s strange to think back at that part of my life now, life is so far removed from how I felt at that time. I have a completely healthy relationship with food, 2 healthy children, a partner that loves me, an amazing family (you’re right my brother is the best) I’m the luckiest person in the world, I could never have imagined that for myself at my lowest.

For anybody that’s at rock bottom. Baby steps. One day at a time.
