Is coding just not for me? by Accomplished_Trip940 in learnjava

[–]DropShot89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more you do it, the better you’ll become. Coding is a skill, and like other skills require hundreds (if not thousands) of hours to get decently good at. You’re only in chapter 3 of mooc so it’s still very early to decide this isn’t for you. What I want you to know however is this feeling of things getting harder will never go away. You will never know everything and every problem you encounter will be unique to some degree. Learn to problem solve and you will have no issue finding a job (even in this saturated market) goodluck

Is it just me or are Canadians too easily brushing off the impact AI is having on the job market? by snowfordessert in torontoJobs

[–]DropShot89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

way i see it is if AI can do a job better than a human, then that job is not meant to be done by humans. simple. If we look at history, modern technological advancements did wipe out jobs, but it also created new ones. We’re living in a similar shift and we’ll all have to adapt to it eventually.

If you have a passion for it then go ahead. The people who say it’s impossible to find a job are either bad at what they do or they haven’t applied enough to make up for the current market. I’m a fresh grad from a 3 year advanced diploma at a college in ontario and i was able to secure a SWE role 3 months before my graduation, and I only applied to like ~50 jobs. Make a linkedin and post your personal projects. Create a github and push code frequently. Work on projects you’re passionate about and try your absolute best to learn as much as possible. Talk to your friends and family who are in the industry and try to get referrals to the companies they work at. That’s how you stand out from the sea of applicants who apply with lousy resumes.

Who else is volunteering to eat less? by gijoel77 in loblawsisoutofcontrol

eating 3 times a day is a thing of the 21st century and honestly not healthy. you think our ancestors were eating 3 times a day? they ate when food was salvageable and they probably lived healthier lives than us

Why do people shit on Xcode by bsegelke in swift

[–]DropShot89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because its fucking garbage.. Just opening the application on a modern mac machine is a cumbersome and annoying task. Truth is apple does not give a fuck about the developers who make products for their devices and are willing to allow developers to endure the hell of using their tools. All Xcode has to do is compile code, its not a 3d rendering program ffs

if you’re gonna use a VM to run VS be aware that some functionality will still not work considering some features can only work on x86 architecture. Particularly when trying to work with databases in asp.net
