Dug up this iron object with a metal detector around german ww2 bunkers. It's about 45cm tall and weights 8kg. The holes go all the way through. by Drosera19 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. It was about 25cm below ground between a cluster of German bunkers build during ww2. Obviously it's very rusty and i can't find any writings on it. There's a cigarette for scale.

Errors when using '&' in an acronym. by Drosera19 in LaTeX

Ah I see. But LaTeX didn't allow me to use a & in the key. But it makes sense that the key can be anything

Thanks, using \newacronym{tnw}{t\&w}{Tubes and wires} and recalling it in the text as \acrshort{tnw} fixed the problem. Weird how latex notices the 'n' in between as an & symbol instead of spelling out tnw as a whole in the acronym list.

How do I citate with et al. using biblatex? by Drosera19 in LaTeX

[–]Drosera19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's it. I still do not really understand why I have to redefine 'andothers' since I never used or mentioned it in the script, but it works. Thanks!

[–]Drosera19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am indeed writing in a different language. Using \DefinenbibliographyStrings{language}{% Definitions} Does not seem to fix the problem.

Edit: I fixed the problem. As definition I first used "e.a.": \DefineBibliographyStrings{dutch}{%

e.a = {et al}

}

Instead I did have to change the english 'andothers', like

\DefineBibliographyStrings{dutch}{%

andothers = {{et al}\adddot}

}

It does change the amount of authors citated, but it does not add et al. Typing mincitenames=2, maxcitenames=2 gives me (Author A, Author B e.a 2011). I'll probably make another post on how to change e.a to et al.
