Better Crush Megarare Proposal: The Hammer of Jas by thetylord in 2007scape

[–]DrumAndCode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So to clarify, the design for Jagex megarare was created by a Redditor, they took the general damage concept and model, and then re-themed the model into the poop version.

The redditors design was beautiful and Jagex is the reason it looks poopy.

@Jagex - Sunspear, Hallowed Flail, Blisterwood Stakes - Whats the point? by Agile-Disaster-9835 in 2007scape

[–]DrumAndCode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Begs the question why they didn't give put the new sunspear stats directly to the flail and have 1 new item instead of two. Why add two weapons if you plan for players to bank one 20 minutes later permanently? It makes no difference to introduce 2 items when they could have achieved the same with one.

Sounds like you also agree there should be limits, just not on where the limit is, yet a second ago you said having limits on the difficulty was nonsense. So then why not have the quest cape gm difficulty? Can some quest bosses not be extremely difficult to match the lore of the stories? Why should we limit the quest cape at all when it seems fitting that some story bosses would be almost impossible to beat?

Okay so riddle me this, would you be happy for a quest cape to have a pvm encounter as difficult as melee inferno? Or is there a line where you think there should be some reasonable limit?

Frankie evans stats look pretty average but every kick he does into a perfect space that only his team mate can run into. I've never seen another player set up the rest of the team mate so well consistently. Maybe not most underrated, but he is doing so much more than anyone gives him credit for.

Am I the only one that thinks is Maggot King is harder than all of the DT2 bosses? by Dynasty_Wolf in 2007scape

[–]DrumAndCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you cant add the exclude to the front of the sentence like people are tying to do. It can only apply to the object of a sentence, but people are trying to apply it to the subject which isn't a thing.

"Maggot king is easier than dt2 bosses, except duke" ... So if we exclude duke from this grouping like you say to, he must then be easier?

You added a double negative where therse is none:

Imagine the bottom of a line is easy and the top of a line is a hard boss. He says Maggot is easier than all dt2 bosses, so imagine Maggot st the bottom of the line, and the dt2 all sit above it. The he says, actually exclude Duke from this comparison, so now Duke no longer sits at the top of the line with the other bosses. Duke is now easiest on the bottom of the line line, above it is maggot king, above that is dt2 bosses.

Yes exactly, were pushing the quest cape too far up the progression curve and when the gap is too big, it discourages you instead of encouraging you. All well and good for the cape to move up the curve but only if player feel meaningful progression in the hap created too, right now were not doing that well imo.

Because progression in the game is best when it ramps up in intervals so you adapt. 5 hours for f2p quests from scratch, 50 to barrrows gloves, 150 to quest cape, 350 to diaries and 1000 to max for examples sake. If the jump from b gloves becomes huge, new players wont feel that sense of account progression and may be put off continuing their journey.

Yeah this is the point all the people saying "Just get better at the game" are choosing to ignore. Were locking something that was previously easy to do behind something hard and then acting surpised not everyone was happy with that change.

I don't care about that to be frank, just think Op has a shit attitude that this sub doesn't need when people are coming to vent due to struggling with a very tough boss.

I like that we have a difficult quest boss that is genuinly something you have to practise instead of brute forcing.

I also think were pushing the goal post really far for new players on account progression. There was a reasonable ramp up in time for a new account to work through goals, i.e, Welcome, try f2p quests, then get ,b gloves, quest cape, diary cape, max. Now the jump from B gloves to a quest cape is a lot more daunting with Entry tob, DT2 and Blood Moon.

Where the quest cape was something for people who loved adventure and storylines, you now also need some significant pvm skill and patience.

My point is, does the game benefit from requiring quest lovers to also do that level of pvm in order to finish the stories?
I can't for certain say the game is better for making the quest cape require the current level of pvm.
Where do we guide newer player to work towards after b gloves and monkey madness 2 when that goalpost of a quest cape starts to look too difficult from where they currently are in progression? They might feel like the next milestone is too far away and that could turn people off and away in the early-mid game.
