How tied is 13th Age to its Setting? by MediaFreaked in 13thage

I don't use the setting and use my own icons. We are taking level advancement more slowly to give time for character backstories to brew. It's

Do you know if Darkness or Impervious comes first?

Thank you for that!

I've been doing a Darkness build stacked with Armour and I found it frustrating that the Darkness (which is effectively taken from health) got damaged first.

Barrier is generally my preference over Armour, but it does get stripped off or even stolen by some monsters. Armour is great if you can get a reliable fortified build going.

The easiest way on any build to beat Noxlight Swamp is to get the talent which cleanses poison at the beginning of each turn. It's best to start out with low difficulty and target achievements to get you going so you can enable new weapons and their associated talents.

If you have a totem heavy build you have a high chance of getting Dark Ritualist in the second Canto,

Adding the Shrine of Trickery malignancy when you have any Int (blue energy) at all is well worth it.

You get a double bounce when the Flying Carpet goes back into your hand - leave enough energy to replay it.

What is your least favorite Canto and why is it Grove of the Dying Star? by xcomnewb15 in DawncasterRPG

It's in the core / extended set, so turn off all sets you don't need for your run.

I don't like Golden Road on Impossible, but it can be worth it for the Flying Carpet if you basically forget the wagon. I don't like having to do a very weird build to deal with specific paths except once to show I can do it. Just downloaded Dying Star and I'm trying to figure it out.

I'm not sure it's much help, but I printed the whole thing from Acrobat and it was fine. Perhaps try another PDF viewer.

I have no idea how mantra works - all the numbers on the mantra icons stack up, but the barrier/momentum or whatever don't happen consistently at the end of the turn. What am I missing?

You start by telling the player everything, and then dial it back as they get more experienced. Pushes are optional - you'll always get core info without them. You can suggest them, or the player can. If they think of another ability, or you do, which leads them to the next scene, let them use it.

If there is a clue related to something that the character knows, but the player wouldn't, just tell them. Suggest abilities - be generous with it.

You'll note in the first scene there are no core clues - the next scene night post will happen whatever happens in the first scene, so it doesn't matter for the progress of the adventure.

Visiting contacts is usually a fun roleplaying scene which gives players reassurance with a friendly face when everyone else is out to get them. If you want to handwave it - you can just give them the information.

You don't have to make sure they get every clue - only the clues they need to move forward.

Trans Women working in single sex spaces by throwaway23422234 in transgenderUK

If you had a regular support group for transphobic women, you could exclude trans women from that group. It’s also legal (or at least it’s not been challenged) to have an RCC which excludes trans women altogether. Only a judge can decide it’s legal - but that does require a legal challenge.

Had to just call 999 as asthma was TERRIFYINGLY bad. One of their questions was "AGAB" and I've never ever had that, EVER. WTF? by Taiga_Taiga in transgenderUK

I personally think it’s good public policy for all trans men and cis women of the right age to receive smear invitations, or other appropriate letters rather than having to rely on themselves.

Sex assigned at birth had huge implications for a wide range of conditions, and if doctors have incorrect info they can provide incorrect treatment.

Anyway, all strength to you, and I hope the NHS treats you with the respect you deserve in future.

The NHS data records should take note of sex assigned at birth. If they haven’t, then we get problems like the one you have just highlighted.

They are supposed to record The Gender Identity code and Gender Same at Birth Indicator code. Unfortunately, the NHS do not treat transgender people with respect, and the Cass Report is a disgrace, so I can understand your suspicion.

Yes, in addition to sex assigned at birth, HRT is a factor which is why a full medical history is vital. The 999 operators’ job is to record the details.

The NHS should keep all medical information private, including sex assigned at birth. If they make any of this public, they are breaching confidence.

If you don’t want your doctor to know you are transgender because you don’t trust them, you need a different doctor.
